Did you know? What to do if you are worried about family abductionFamily abduction happens when a child is taken or hidden by one family member from another, against custody or visitation rights. In some circumstances, family abduction is considered a crime, and can be prosecuted. If you are worried about a possible family abduction, you can take action. Have a valid custo-dy agreement that outlines who can see or take your child, and when. Advise your child’s school or day-care about custody arrangements, including who can and cannot pick up your child. For more information, visit missingkids.org/theissues/familyabduction.
PATIENCE IS THE COMPANION OF WISDOM!
“Patience is the companion of wisdom!”Saint Augustine
To the members of the Saint Finbar Church community:
Today we reflect on the words of Saint Augustine. Think about it for a moment. Patience often seems to be the most elusive of virtues. However... When seeking the insights and counsel of others, don’t we often choose the person we know to be the most patient for advise and encourage-ment?
Saint Augustine had his mother as a tutor on patience. Saint Monica, the mother of Saint Augustine, is celebrated for her patience and persistence in prayer. Saint Augustine didn’t exactly lead a “saintly” existence in his early years yet his conversion to the faith has been celebrated through the centuries and his influence on Christian philosophy is rivaled by few others. Saint Monica’s patience and perseverance in prayer were integral to her son’s conversion. As a Church we are blessed by the witness and faith of these two great saints.
Patience can be among the most challenging virtues to attain because it takes time, practice and it pretty much requires learning to live with vulnerability. That’s why prayer is often vital for those who pursue the virtue. None of us like the feeling of vulnerability as we wait on things that are important to us. However, mutual vulnerability is necessary in the development of loving relationships and life-long friendships.
Through patience we open ourselves to receive God’s gift of wisdom. The two virtues are not only companions, they work hand-in-hand. Wisdom is the reward of patience and patience is the outcome of wise thinking.
Saint Finbar Church is blessed to have you as a member of our community. It’s your faith, your wisdom, your patience and your perseverance that assist in making Saint Finbar Church such a wonderful place for fellowship, friendship and worship. As we continue our community’s journey of faith through the pandemic, please know we truly cherish your presence and your involvement at Saint Finbar Church. Your willingness to brave uncertainty at a time of mutual vulnerability is an act of faith and your continued presence is an example of faith.
Though few of us considers ourselves to be patient, the countless acts of wisdom and patience that you have demonstrated over the past eighteen months are lessons for us all. We journey together. The wisdom you have shared and the patience you have demonstrated are making us a stronger community of faith and a community ready to embrace in faith all of the challenges and opportunities we will encounter as we emerge into the post-pandemic world. Just a little more patience, please. We will soon be there together!

Fiesta De La FeLa paz sea contigo
