What is ROTC?

• The Reserve Officer Training Course (ROTC) is a four-year training program that prepares college students for service as commissioned officers in the United States Army, Army Reserves, and Army National Guard.

• Army ROTC is – a challenging and exciting college elective that focuses on leadership development not only in theory, but in practice.

• Upon Graduating college ROTC cadets receive a commission in the United States Army.

Extra Income

PAY BENEFITS: A Private First Class (E-3) will make the following during a normal two-day drill:

$211.72 per month (1 weekend) $793.95 for annual training (2 weeks) $3,334.59 per year

*Soldiers who serve 20 years qualify for retirement benefits

Terms of Enlistment

ENLISTMENT OPTIONS:

Standard Enlistment• Allows recruits to enlist for active drilling commitments of

three, six years or Eight years.

• Six and Eight year commitments qualify for G.I. Bill Benefits.

• All enlistments qualify for Tuition Assistance.

Active First• This program allows a new recruit to enlist with the Army

National Guard and serve a period of 36 months on active duty as his or her first military assignment.

• New recruits can earn up to $50,000 in bonuses from this program.

GED Plus Option

What Is GED Plus?• Allows Non-High School Graduates who score

above 31 on the Armed Forces Qualification.Test (AFQT) to enlist.

• Students must earn their GED.

How GED Plus Helps Students…

• Through the use of professional educators, the Guard prepares individuals to take and pass the General Equivalency Diploma (GED) exam.

Patriot Academy

What Is Patriot Academy?

o A National Guard sponsored High School program

o Students live on campus, attend class and receive life skills while earning a High School Diploma

o Students receive monthly stipend while attending school

o All students must enlist in the Army National Guard

o Students must attend BASIC TRAINING prior to starting the Patriot Academy

o Not open to students currently in High School

Patriot Academy

Requirements:• 17 – 19 years of age• No major legal issues• Must be within 12 credits of graduating• Must be withdrawn from school for at

least six months (waivable dep on school)• Must meet Army Medical Standards• Cannot have legal dependants• Must enlist into the INARNG

What Is Heritage Outreach?• The Heritage Outreach Program (HOP) is an exciting

American history program.

• It features a curriculum-based lesson plan and 35 minute interactive classroom presentations.

How HOP Helps Students…• HOP stimulates students’ imaginations and gets them

involved in history.

• A trunk of historical artifacts enriches the educational experience.

• Eye-catching student textbooks are provided for each student.

Youth Challenge Program

• Established in 1993 by the Army National Guard, 1st class conducted in Indiana July 8th, 2007. 35 “at-risk” youth graduated Indiana’s 1st class.

• 17 month program targeted toward 16-19 yr-old males or females, who must be drug free, unemployed, no pending felony charges or convictions. They must also be an Indiana resident who has been classified as a “high school dropout” or unable to attain academic alignment to graduate on time in a traditional sense.

• 3 phases- Pre-Challenge (2 weeks); Residential (5 months); Post-Residential (12 months)

• Cadets focus on 8 Core Components which include- Leadership, Responsible Citizenship, Academic Excellence, Job Skills, Life Skills, Personal Hygiene, Service to Community, & Physical Fitness

LOCAL SPORTS PROGRAM What Is the Local Sports Program?• This program offers local sports teams the

opportunity to wear Guard-branded sports uniforms.

• The team kits range from basketball, bowling and volleyball to soccer and softball.
