The Faculty of Global and Regional Studies aims to develop human resources with the ability to innovate on economic, social and various other systems based on their deep understanding of the relat ions between regional diversity and different global systems, and/or with the ability to

contribute to the solution of problems and autonomous development in diverse regions, in the global society, where various challenges—economic problems, poverty, resource issues, environmental challenges, armed conflicts, and so on—continue to arise.

To foster practical human resources who can be active in the dynamically changing global society, the Faculty pursues the goal of expanding the following three kinds of capabilities in our students:1 ) knowledge about various problems in the global society and diverse issues rooted in regional societies, history, lifestyles and values, and the ability to analyze such problems and issues;

2 ) practical language prof iciency and communication skills that are useful in the environment of cross-cultural and multicultural encounters and necessary to leading actors in the global society; and3 ) the practical ability to resolve challenges in regional societies, creativity for developing and promoting innovations, and leadership.

T h e Facult y a ims to d eve l o p human resources who pursue research that can practically contribute to the solution of various problems in the global society by developing innovations in economic, social and other various systems from a top-down

perspective, and by putting innovations into practice from a bottom-up perspective to achieve the autonomous development of diverse regions.

国際学部においては、経済、貧困、資源、環境、紛争な

どさまざまな課題が新たに発生しているグローバルな社会

において、地域の多様性とさまざまなグローバル・システ

ムとの関連性の理解に基づいて、経済、社会などのさまざ

まなシステムに変革（イノベーション）を起こしうる人材、

および多様な地域における課題解決と自律的な発展に貢

献しうる人材の養成を目的にしている。

ダイナミックに変わりゆくグローバル社会において行動で

きる実践的な人材として、第一に、グローバル社会におけ

る諸問題や地域の社会、歴史、生活、価値観に根ざした

諸問題に対する知識と、それらの諸問題を分析する能力、

第二に国際社会を舞台に活躍するための異文化環境にお

ける実践的な語学力、コミュニケーション力、第三に地域

社会における課題解決に向けた実践的能力、イノベーショ

ンを構想・推進していくための構想力、およびリーダーシッ

プ能力、の3 点を磨くことを教育目標としている。

トップダウン的な視点で経済、社会などさまざまなシス

テムのイノベーションを創出し、ボトムアップ的な視点で

多様な地域の自律的な発展にむけてイノベーションを展開

していくことにより、グローバル社会の諸課題の解決に、

実践的に貢献していく人材の要請と研究の推進を目的と

している。

Creating innovation in social systems and developing it in local communities

社会システムにおけるイノベーションの創出と地域への展開

The Faculty of Global and Regional Studies, which has started in

April 2017, aims to develop practical human resources that can

play an active role in the dynamically changing global community

at its two departments: the Department of Global Innovation

Studies and the Department of Regional Development Studies.

In the global community, in which a variety of issues — such

as economic disparity, deepening of environmental issues,

exhaustion of resources, and dramatization of conflicts — are

constantly emerging, there is a critical need for innovation

in various social systems as well as their background cultures

and values. It is required to develop human resources that are

willing to take bold action and that can play a leading role in

making innovations in social systems, while being aware of the

universal value of human existence and being full of creativity

and entrepreneurial spirit. Meanwhile, in order to ensure these

innovations take hold in the real world, it is also necessary to

foster human resources that understand the uniqueness of

various regions across the world from a global perspective, and

that can conduct practical activities, including development

support activities and business activities, in local communities.

経済格差、環境問題の深刻化、資源の枯渇、紛争の激化など、さまざまな問題が発生

しているグローバルな社会において、社会を支えるさまざまなシステムやその背景にあ

る文化、価値観の変革（＝イノベーション）が切実に求められています。

人間の存在に普遍的な価値を自覚しつつ、創造性と起業家精神に満ち、社会システム

のイノベーションを目指して果敢に行動することを厭わない、先導的な役割を担う人財

の育成が必要となっています。

一方で、このようなイノベーションを実社会に根付かせていくためには、グローバルな

視点をもちつつも世界中のさまざまな地域の独自性を理解し、実際の地域社会におい

て開発支援やビジネスなど実践的な活動を展開できる人材の育成も併せて必要となっ

ています。2017 年 4 月にスタートした国際学部では、グローバル・イノベーション学科、

国際地域学科の 2 つの学科においてダイナミックに変わりゆくグローバル社会におい

て行動できる実践的な人財の育成を目指します。

Educating human resources for innovation in cooperation with overseas institutions

An overseas study program is held to enable students to experience innovation by touring partner universities, which boast quality education regarding innovation, in different countries, including Strasbourg (France), Florence (Italy), Mondragon (Spain), and Bilbao (Spain). Furthermore, in conjunction with a practical entrepreneur training program MTA held at Mondragon University, we offer a new type of education to develop human resources for innovation.

実している海外協定校を巡り、イノベーションを肌で感じる海外研修を実施しています。また、モンドラゴン大学 MTAで行わ

Study abroad program for Japanese students

I n t h i s g l o b a l i z e d s o c i e t y, w e a r e f ace d with var ious issues , including economic disparities, the aggravation of environmental problems, the depletion of natural resources, and the acceleration of conflicts. The world desperately requires innovation in various systems supporting our society. Furthermore, innovation in cultures and values behind the systems is also strongly desired.Our world involves multifarious contexts, including culture, society, economics, h i s t o r y, a n d t h e e n v i r o n m e n t . T h e Department of Global Innovation Studies (GINOS) educates students to acquire the ability to take action to resolve issues while understanding and respecting these contex ts , and work ing together with diverse people with different backgrounds. For the period of one year starting from the latter half of their sophomore year, students are required to take part in a study abroad program, which is implemented

as an exchange program, in principle. Destinations are varied, including Europe, Nor th America, and Asia. Universities to study at have been selected not by third parties, but directly by our faculty members through on-site inspections and direct negotiations. Different students are assigned to different destinations to the best extent possible, providing students with an English-speaking environment in which they can immerse themselves in their studies.In addition to the one-year study abroad program, we also provide students with various other opportunities to “Travel” from right after university entrance. For example, “Learning Journey to Experience Innovation” is a program in which students actually visit other countries to make businessmodel/policy proposals through numerous dialogues with experts, Besides these programs, many other “ Travel” options are available.

世界の多様な文化、社会、経済、歴史や環境など多様なコ

ンテクスト（文脈）に対して寛容な理解を示し、異なる背

景を持つさまざまな主体と協調しながら、問題解決に向け

た行動力を養います。２年次後半からの１年間の海外留学

（必修）は原則として交換留学プログラムで行います。留学

先はヨーロッパ、北米、アジアなど。留学先の大学の選定

は人任せにせず、すべて教員が出向いて、直接交渉してい

ますので安心ですし、出来るだけ留学先は分散してしっか

りと英語の環境に浸かって、大いに勉強に専念できる環境

を提供します。

また、１年間の留学だけでなく、入学時からさまざまな「旅」

の機会を用意します。例えば、「ラーニング・ジャーニー」

“Learning Journey to Experience Innovation”など

は、実際に各国を訪問して対話を繰り返しビジネス・モデ

ルや政策提言の提案をするというプログラムです。その他

にも「旅」の選択肢はたくさん用意します。

as an opportunity to practice entrepreneurship through dialogue among students, is held every spring and very popular.

多様な主体と対話（Dialogue）による起業家精神実践の機

会として、シルク・ドゥ・ソレイユなど国内外の先端企業家・

研究者を招き、CREATOYO Global Creativity Week を

毎年春に実施し大好評を得ています。

For communication, making your opinion understood is more important than just giving your opinion. In this workshop, acting training methods and theatrical techniques are used to allow all students to experience the circulation of communication by using every part of the body.

演劇の訓練手法を用いたパブリックスピーキング

コミュニケーションにおいて大切なのは「伝える」よりも

「伝わる」ということです。このワークショップでは、俳

優の訓練や演劇の手法を用い、体全体を使ってこのコミュ

ニケーションの循環を体感していきます。

CREATOYO English Public Speaking through Acting Training

Although English language sk i l ls are required, it is not necessar y from the beginnig to be good at using English. It is essential to be fond of learning and using English, as well as communicating with people. A forward-looking attitude is also indispensable.Many staff members dedicated to Engl ish education take responsibility for educating you in an environment where you can use English e v e r y d a y. T h e r e f o r e , y o u r E n g l i s h proficiency will surely improve.Classes are divided by skill level according to the four language skills ( listening, speaking, reading, and writing), and also by class type, for example, debate, presentation, and negotiation classes. This enables us to educate students so that they acquire well-balanced English language skills. In addition, by monitoring the progress and personality of each student, we can propose a tailor-

made English learning menu. Furthermore, various other services, including counseling for studying abroad, support for document creation, and career counseling, are available on demand at our one-stop laboratory services for English study “GINOS Studio,” where full-time staff members are always ready to provide services with reasonable care.For communication, oral presentation skills sufficient to express yourself are vital. Success in oral presentations depends on how good you can “act” while understanding various contexts. To enhance creativity for context understanding and issue resolution, wide variety of active learnings and project studies intensive courses are provided to all students. Simulations of various situations, ranging from global dispute settlement to international business, enable students to acquire high-level practical skills useful even after graduation.

のスキル別にクラスを編成し、バランスの取れた英語力を

鍛えるだけでなく、個別の進度と個性をモニタリングして、

英語学習メニューを提案するとともに、留学の相談、書類

作成のサポート、キャリア相談などもオーダメードで常駐

スタッフが支援する専用のワンストップ英語学習支援ラボ

GINOS Studio で丁寧に面倒をみます。

何よりコミュニケーションの基本として自分自身をしっかり

と表現するプレゼンテーション能力が求められますが、そ

の基本は多様なコンテクストを理解していかに「演ずる」

かということです。コンテクスト理解のうえに、問題解決

のための創造性（Creativity）を高める実践的演習として、

さまざまなアクティブラーニングとプロジェクト・スタディー

ズの集中コースを提供しています。グローバルな紛争解決

から国際ビジネスの現場まで、現場をさまざまにシミュレー

ションによって経験することにより、卒業後の高度な実践

力を養います。

GINOS StudioImprovement in practical skills By mainly using a project-based learning method that meets various needs, we offer small-group classes so as to help students engage in practical activities. To respond to various needs of students, we provide students with support at a facility called“ GINOS Studio.”

DIt is expected that students will have keen interest in various issues in the globalized society, and acquire the ability to take action to resolve issues by putting their dialogue skills to full use in the fields of international business and collaboration. This can be achieved through the one-year study abroad program,“ Travel” to overseas bases for leadingedge innovation, and our learning environment in which thirty percent of the students are from overseas.New-age innovation is achieved through dialogue among “Knowledge Angels”. The term“ Knowledge Angels” refers to authentic global human resources who can provide advanced knowledge and skills beyond the boundaries of organizations, companies, and nations, and at the same time, further improve their own knowledge and skills through the provision of their expertise. Even in this era of protectionism, or rather, precisely because we are in such times, our society requires global Knowledge Angels who can have dialogue beyond organizational and national boundaries.To establish dialogue by making innovation happen as one of the global Knowledge Angels regardless of where you are in the world,

you need to have wide-ranging knowledge with flexibility and depth. GINOS students are expected to have a good grasp of the overall view of the global system by taking courses in the Global System Field in the beginning. After gaining such overview, students select a body of knowledge as they see fit by considering which field they want to mainly engage in, the International Business or International Collaboration field. In addition to these, courses in the fields of Liberal Arts and Regional Development Studies provide a good grounding. Needless to say, knowledge for “Dialogue” should be acquired through “Dialogue”. To enable students to absorb “active” knowledge that can be used at any time, the latest active learning methods are applied. The simulation of situations in which knowledge is actually used, and internship programs which GINOS’s unique project studies unprecedented in Japan ( Learning Journey, English Public Speaking through Acting Training, CREATOYO Global Creativity Week ) and use English skills, also help students acquire active knouledge GINOS brings innovation to human resource development methods as well.

グローバル社会における諸問題に強い関心を持ち、対話力を

駆使して国際ビジネスや国際コラボレーションの領域で問題解

決に向けて行動する力を、１年間の海外留学や、海外の先端

的イノベーション拠点への「旅」、３割が留学生の学びの環境

で身につけます。

新しい時代のイノベーションはナレッジ・エンジェルズたちによ

る対話により開かれます。ナレッジ・エンジェルズ（Knowledge

Angels）とは、自らの高度な知識やスキルを組織・企業・国

家の境界を越えて提供し、さらにその活動を通じて自らも知

識やスキルを高めていくという、本格的なグローバル人材で

す。保護主義の台頭する時代であっても、むしろそれだからこ

そ、組織や国境などの境界を越えて対話をするグローバルなナ

レッジ・エンジェルズたちが必要になるのです。

グローバルなナレッジ・エンジェルズとして、地球上のどこからで

もイノベーションを起こし、対話を成立するためには、多様で柔

軟で奥行きを持った知識が必要です。GINOS では「グローバル・

システム領域」の科目群によってシステムの全体像をしっかりと

把握した上で、「国際ビジネス」と「国際コラボレーション」のどち

らを中心に活躍したいかによって自分なりの知識体系を選択し、

さらに「リベラル・アーツ」「国際地域学領域」でバックグラウンド

をしっかりと育てていきます。もちろん、「対話」のための知識

は「対話」によって修得します。アクティブ・ラーニングの最新の

手法を取り入れて、実際に知識を使う場面を想定しながら、また

実際に日本には例のないGINOS 独自のプロジェクト・スタディーズ

（ラーニングジャーニー、演劇の訓練手法を用いたパブリックスピー

キング、CREATOYO Global Creativity Week 等）や英語の

スキルを活かせるインターンシップの経験を通して、いつでも取

り出せる文字通りの「アクティブ」な知識として吸収してもらいま

Our thorough English education, which varies depending on the proficiency level of a student, improves your English language skills so that you can study in English.The means to acquire knowledge for dialogue is dialogue. Specialized courses are offered in three fields of studies. The first is the Global System Field, in

which students understand the system of globalization and learn social changes associated with

globalization and its impacts. The second is the International Business Field, which deals with

the systems and features of business developing across several countries and regions and how

companies and entrepreneurs should operate in the international business environment. The

third is the International Collaboration Field, which provides knowledge related to cooperation

and collaboration across countries and regions through the exchange of people, goods, and

information. Students enhance their professional knowledge through small group-based active

lectures and seminars.

グローバル化のしくみを理解するとともに、それにともなう

社会の変化や影響について学ぶ「グローバル・システム領

域」、複数の国や地域にまたがって展開するビジネスのしく

みや特徴、国際的なビジネスにおける企業・起業家のあり

I C国際地域学科Department of Regional Development Studies (RDS)

The Medium-term “Learning English Abroad” Program aims for students to enhance their overall English proficiency and communication skills in a multicultural environment, through five-week intensive English learning at a university in the Philippines, Malaysia or Australia. Moreover, follow up training, where students review their own study and life abroad, helps motivate students to devote their efforts to subsequent language learning and to participate in practical activities, including specialized training, internships and volunteer activities.

<Host universities>　Each student is sent to the University of San Carlos in the Philippines, MARA University of Technology in Malaysia, or the University of Science, Malaysia, in Malaysia, or Curtin University in Australia.* Host universities are subject to changes in international situations.

本実習では、フィリピン、マレーシアおよびオーストラリアにある大学で、約

５週間にわたって集中的に英語を学びます。トータルな英語力の向上を目指

すとともに、異文化環境でのコミュニケーション能力を高めることを目的とし

ます。さらに事後研修では、実習の振り返りを通して、語学学習や専門研修、

インターンシップ、ボランティアなどの実践的な活動への動機づけを行います。

-実践的な語学力とコミュニケーション能力を磨く-

This department aims to have students acquire practical linguistic competence as important tools to communicate with people living in various regions across the world and experts who are familiar with the regions.Regarding English learning, in addition to the provision of language courses designed to improve the four skills of listening, speaking,

reading and writing, which are required in today’s society, language training (planned to be conducted on Cebu Island, the Philippines and in Malaysia) is also required of students. Second foreign language courses are also offered for students to learn French, German, Chinese, and Korean.

ションする重要なツールとして、実践的な語学力の修得を

目指します。

英語については、社会的に求められている 4 技能「聞く・

話す・読む・書く」を高める語学科目に加え、海外英語実

習を必須化（フィリピン・セブ島とマレーシア、オーストラ

リアで実施）。さらに、第二外国語としてフランス語、ドイ

ツ語、中国語、韓国語なども学べます。

What forms the basis of studies in this department is our philosophy “Think Globally, Act Locally,” based on which students are asked to see issues from a global perspective and take concrete action at the local level. Students understand the society, history, l ives , and values of local communities and their various issues, and acquire the knowledge and ability to analyze such issues.

In the department, a quarterly system is implemented, in which the academic year is divided in to four terms. Students intensively study a wide range of courses involved in regional research, and steadily acquire practical ability by using rich opportunities for overseas experience, such as research-based training, long-term internships, and overseas study.

基礎となるのは、地球規模の視点で問題を捉え、ローカル

な場で具体的に行動する "Think globally, Act locally"

という哲学。地域の社会、歴史、生活、価値観と諸問題

を理解し、分析するための知識と能力を修得します。

1 年間を 4 期間に分ける「クォーター制」を導入。地域

研究に関わる幅広い分野の科目を集中的に学ぶと同時に、

調査型研修や長期インターンシップ、留学等の充実した海

外体験機会を活用して実践力を着実に獲得します。

Student-led Field Study Ⅰ - Ⅳ (field study in Japan or abroad / two credits each) Student-led Field Studies (SFS) are specialized studies where students themselves plan and conduct research in Japan or abroad. Students are required to set a regional research goal, decide its subject, plan and design their research, including items to be examined and methods to be used, and conduct research in the field for about 4 to 14 days, without being escorted by instructors. Applied-level field studies aim to enable students to deepen their understanding of problems and challenges faced by local people in the area, and cultivate their own skills in 2 communicating with local people and other related people, as well as a spirit of self-reliance and teamwork capabilities. Advanced-level field studies aim to help students acquire an essential understanding of the challenges, practical ability, and advanced research techniques, based on their on-site experience.

フィールド調査実習Ⅰ〜Ⅳ（国内外実習／各 2 単位）SFS は、Student-led

Field Study の略称で、学生が自ら国内外で行う調査内容を計画立案して実施

する専門的実習として位置付けられています。地域調査について調査の目的、

対象、事項、方法などを企画・設計し、教員の引率なしで約４〜14 日間程度

現地で滞在しながら調査を行います。応用レベルの実習では、現場の問題と課

題の理解を深め、地域住民や関係者とのコミュニケーション力、自立心とチー

ムワーク力を高め、発展レベルの実習では現場での経験に基づいた課題の本質

的な理解と実践力、高度な調査技法を身につけることを目的としています。

Enhancing-「現場」を実体験する-

Students acquire broad knowledge to understand various issues facing local communities at home and abroad from a global perspective, and the know-how to use such knowledge to contribute to regional development.Students are expected to play an active role not only in Japan or Asian countries, but also in various regions throughout the world as experts who contribute to the self-sustained grow th of local communities through

development assistance and business activities.Students foster a better understanding of the knowledge they have gained at the university and obtain applied skills by using their knowledge on-site. They also enhance their practical ability through various on-site experiences. Our curriculum includes participation in research-based training, intern-ships, and volunteer activities.

グローバルな視点を持ちつつ、国内外の地域が抱えるさま

ざまな課題・問題を理解するための幅広い知識と、それを

「現場」に展開していくためのノウハウを獲得。

開発支援やビジネスなどを通じて、地域の自律的な発展に

貢献するエキスパートとして、日本、アジア諸国、そして

世界のさまざまな地域で活躍していきます。

教室で学んだ知識を実際の現場で展開することにより、学

んだ知識への理解を深め、応用力を身につけます。現場で

のさまざまな体験により実践的な力を磨いていきます。調

査型研修やインターンシップ、ボランティア活動などへの

参加がカリキュラムに組み入れられています。

In our department, we aim the educational goal to obtain the knowledge of the creation of vibrant regional societies in Japan and abroad, and enhance to develop human resources who is eligible to perform in the actual field. And we have established a group of course in the primary curriculum to go with our goal to acquire the practical abilities. Both internship and volunteer activities are available to participate in and also earn credits as a part of the curriculum.Taking part in these activities is highly expected to make use of learning in this department, and it will also contribute to the improvement of social and human networks, which can be experienced at the actual field of society. It will also contribute to the improvement of the nature, coordination, and communication skills.

本学科では、国内外での「地域づくり」の知識と、「現場」でそれを実行で

きる人材の育成を教育目標とし、その実践力を身につけるために正課内に

現場・実務経験を伴う科目群を設置しています。インターンシップ、ボランティ

ア実習は、いずれもこの科目群に位置づけられており、授業の一環としての

参加・単位修得が可能となっています。これらの活動に参加することは、本

学科における学びを生かすという面でも高く期待されており、社会の現場に

出ることで得られる経験や社会的・人的ネットワークは大きく、主体性、協

調性、コミュニケーション力の向上にも寄与するでしょう。

Specialized courses dealing with a wide range of topics are offered in four fields of study based on

development research and regional research. These topics include poverty alleviation, economic

and regional planning, infrastructure, the environment and disaster prevention, cross-cultural

understanding, and comparative culture and society.

Students deepen their specialized knowledge by systematically taking a broad range of courses

based on a course program system, which consists of the following topics: international

development, regional design, public policies, comparative culture and society, and environment

and disaster prevention.

Department of Global Innovation Studies (GINOS)

Our students in GINOS/RDS share what their faculties and departments offer, what they can learn in their classes and their dreams and goals for the future.

GINOS ／RDS で学ぶ学生たちが、学部・学科の魅力や、授業で身に付くこと、そして将来の夢や目標について語ります。

留学生が多く、多様な国籍とバックグラウンドを

持つ人々が交流する国際的な環境です。そして幅

広い科目を学べて、会話や意見交換、教室外での

学習を推奨している点も魅力です。特に GINOS

が主催する様々な活動に仲間と協力して参加する

ことで、国際的な舞台で成功するために必要な勇

気が得られ、スキルを磨くことができます。

私の目標は、自分が情熱を注げる仕事で起業する

こと。国際的な GINOS の環境で得たアイデアの

表現方法や、コミュニケーション力、ソーシャルス

キルを活用したいです。

GINOSの海外留学で自分は、日本の常識が他国

では通じないことに気付いて驚きました。この経

験を活かして、今は「カルチャーショックの効果」

について学んでいます。子どもたちにいかにして

海外経験の機会を設け、それを通して、異文化に

対する寛容さを身に付けられるのではないかとい

う研究です。

将来は、日本に来た外国の人たちを、生活や仕事

の面でサポートできる仕事に就きたいです。

コミュニケーション力を磨くGINOS Studio の存

在や、海外研修プログラムは、この学科ならでは

の魅力。さらにビジネス、国際関係、メディアな

ど幅広い分野の授業があります。私は今、貧困層

の子どもの教育支援について学んでいます。アメ

リカへの長期留学や、貧困層を支援する NPO で

のインターンシップを通して、支援方法のあり方や

重要性を知り、関心が高まったからです。

将来も教育に関わる職業に就きたいと考えていて、

社会で幅広い知識を応用できるよう、今から準備

しています。

We have an international environment where people from diverse nationalities and backgrounds converse. GINOS offers a wide range of subjects taught by talented individuals from each field. The teachers here encourage conversations, exchanging of opinions, and learning outside of the classroom. Especially, participating in activities by GINOS helps us find the courage and hone the skills needed to become talented individuals who will thrive in an international environment. My career goal is to become an entrepreneur. I intend to make the most out of the international environment using my communication and social skills.

I was surprised to discover that what I considered to be common sense was rather different overseas. As a result, after my experiences studying abroad, I have decided to do research on the “Effects of Culture Shock”. This research is focused on how children can have opportunities to study abroad, where they can have culture shocks and develop tolerance for other cultures. In the future, I would like to find a job that will allow me to provide support to foreigners living and/or working in Japan.

Global Innovation Studies offers interesting overseas training programs and gives access to “GINOS Studio” where students can improve their English communications skills and abilities. In addition, classes in GINOS cover a wide range of fields such as business, international relations, and media.I have been studying the ways to provide efficient support for the poor children especially through education. Through a two-week training program, studying abroad in the US and an internship at a nonprofit organization, I could get new experiences related to my reserch. Best to gain practical knowledge which can be applicable in our society, and in the future, I would like to work in the field of education.

Department of Regional Development Studies (RDS)

社会の「持続可能な開発」において、RDSで学

べる内容は必要不可欠です。なかでも私が最も興

味のあるテーマは、都市・地域計画など、コミュ

ニティ開発に関することです。急成長する都市、

ジャカルタ出身の私は、都市に大きな可能性とと

もに、解決すべき問題の数々を感じていますが、

今学んでいるテーマは、それらの問題の深い理解

に役立ちます。将来の目標は、コミュニティ全体

で生活の質を改善する開発計画に携わることで

す。将来に向けて、大学で質の高い研究を進めて

いきたいです。

RDS provides many valuable academic and extracurricular opportunities. As sustainable development plays an increasingly prominent role on the world stage, the subjects taught at RDS are essential. I come from a rapidly growing urban city, Jakarta, and I see a huge potential in the city as well as rising issues that need to be solved. These subjects covered a great deal of topics about the development of Japan and other Asian countries, which will be very useful to understand deeper about global and regional issues. My career goal is to be able to contribute to development projects that could improve overall life quality in the community. I hope to produce a quality research within my University study for my future.

この学科は、海外に高い関心を持ち、実際に海

外に行って何かをしようとする行動力のある学生

が多いです。学科全体にお互いを高め合おうとす

る雰囲気があります。

自分は今、ミャンマーを専門とする教授のゼミで、

同地の農村地域の開発について学んでいます。今

年は 2 週間ほど現地で調査を行う予定で、英語

を駆使して調査して、現地の人々の文化や生活に

触れるのがとても楽しみです。発展途上国の開発

にとても興味があるので、このような現地で調査

できる研修があることは、とても魅力的です。

This department has many active students who have strong interest in overseas issues and who are willing to go there to pursue some mission. The department also has an atmosphere that encourages enhancing each other. I am currently researching rural areas development in Myanmar under the supervision of a professor who specializes in that area. I am planning to conduct my research in Myanmar for two weeks this year and I am very excited to experience their culture and way of living. I am very interested in providing support for developing countries, therefore, I am extremely grateful for this opportunity to go on this research trip to one of the developing countries.

RDS の「PS 科目」と呼ばれる Project Studies

では、国内外問わず、教室の外で学ぶプログラム

が含まれています。実際の現場で感じる学びは、

教室での学びと全く異なるものです。私も2 年生

の春休みに、ラオスで１ヵ月間、NGO団体のイン

ターンシップを経験しました。

また、様々なゲストスピーカーのお話を聞く貴重

な機会もあります。自分は将来、人々の働く環境

を改善する仕事をしたく、いずれは独立もしたい

ので、大学で培った行動力も活かして、その夢を

実現していきたいです。

Project studies, also called “PS Subject” in Regional Development Studies (RDS) includes extracurricular studying opportunities within Japan and overseas as well. Getting practical knowledge in the field is totally different from the theoretical knowledge you get in the classroom. I had the opportunity to work for a non-governmental organization in Laos for two months when I was sophomore. The class provided a precious chance to listen to various guest speakers. In my future, I would like to contribute to the improvement of people’s work environment. Having developed my dynamism while studying in Toyo University, I am planning to start my dream business in this field.
