“I think the Minc machine will be huge this year – it will certainly bring a new tool conceptto the market place. I also reckon we will see a continuation of the die-cutting andembossing trends and stamping also seems to be having a resurgence. Knitting andpatchwork are definitely on the up too, I’m happy to say.”
“In knitting we will be looking at strong influences from Scandinavian styles. Alsowoodland themes will be heavily influencing fabrics – look out for foxes and owls. Englishpaper piecing is very much a focus, with mixed colourthemes; monochrome and indigo will be huge, and lilac, mint, salmon, browns and greens will be strong, too.
“What’s more, look out for the new technique ofknooking, which is a mix between knitting and crochet!”

“My area of expertise is home décor, and it’s greatto see wallpaper has been so popular lately. Textile
designers up and down the country have beenraiding their archives to bring old designs back to life
with an edge! Bold statement pieces for the home arealso big news, think oversized rugs and stand out cushions.
“There are a few trends that I think will be popular. One isdefinitely digital crafting as it’s a quick way to create one-of-a-
kind designs. If you’re going to be crafting with kids, pom-pom makingand cake decorating will go down well with the youngsters.
“This year I plan to upcycle an old laser cut wooden screen I’ve had forages. I also have some delightful fabric I bought in Sweden, so I’ll be makingsummery cushions to give as gifts.
“There are a few key looks and themes to look out for. Metallic hues are still verymuch in play but muted colour tones like apricots and dusky blues are just as stylish.
“Ditsy and bold florals are spring staples. The ditsy print will return with awatercolour look, and bold florals on dark backgrounds give a traditional look an
edge. Other hot themes include maps and globes – think cartography colourful orvintage. Travel and transport will continue to be popular, as will animals and thezoological theme, such as owls, birds and the great British wildlife.

“The upcycling trendwill continuestrongly, which isgreat for home décorand 3D crafting.Decorating your ownstationery andorganisers will bepopular, too. I alsopredict that we willsee more intricatecrafts such as creatingyour own scenes andkinetic dimensionalcards and gifts. Plus, decoupage is gettingstronger again, especially cutting andfolding techniques. I’ve
also noticed that lots of old techniques arecoming back around such as the lace effect.
