As a new year gets underway, most of us are looking forward to making new beginnings. This is the time we set goals and frame resolutions- eat healthier, exercise daily, improve relationships- in short, turn over a new leaf. For all of us in the committee, the resolution is simple- do our best for the remaining part of our term! For cricket buffs the New Year has begun on a bright note. CHRISTMAS BAZAAR - 8TH & 9TH DEC

2

If all this Christmas spirit gets you in the mood for some shopping, you would love the Mangalore Club Christmas Bazaar, featuring lots of fun Christmas gift items for people; including Jewellery, cakes and Kuswar, The traditional Mangalorean Christmas sweets and eatables. The shopping event is held every year as a precursor to the festival season of Christmas which is celebrated by billions of people all over the world. Unlike in other parts of the world where the Christmas Bazaar is mostly held for charity, at the club it is basically held as a social gathering and to encourage members and others to showcase their handmade and home-made products. There were 17 stalls which consisted of food, handmade soaps, art and crafts, jewellery and trinkets, Christmas Cribs, hand painted bottles etc., - things and collectibles which are not ordinarily available in the market but only available in such rummage sale. Most of the vendors did brisk business and some even sold out their wares during the 2 days. Outside in the lawns a 2-man band played Christmas carols and Retro numbers to entertain the customers. With food and beverages reasonably priced, it was an evening to remember. The event also combined the monthly housie of the Club and almost all the regular Housie participants were present for the game.

CHRISTMAS BALL - 25.12.18Deck the halls with boughs of hollyCause it’s the season to be jolly.

Mangalore comes alive at this most wonderful time of the yearWhen relatives and friends drop in from far and near.

The smell of freshly baked plum cake fills the airThe parties and festivities are a month-long affair.

The highlight , the Christmas Ball , is a much awaited eventWithout jingling and mingling at Mangalore Club , we can never be content.

With the Fernandes Band and DJ Lalith we rocked the night away The bubbly compere Jake Texiera kept us entertained all the way.

The music inspired us to giddy up and pick up our feetWaltz and jive to the foot tapping beat.

This year ,it didn’t matter if you were naughty or nice If you were lucky enough you could win a prize.

Maybe not a White Christmas but it surely was brightAs the dazzling dudes and dolls were a pretty sight.

Watching everyone, the young and the old Making merry, was truly a sight to behold.

For us at MC, an eventful twelve months it has been Looking forward to more great times in twenty nineteen.

THE NEW YEAR PARTYThe crowd at this year’s new year bash was anticipating a great time following a slew of great events like Diwali Nite and the Christmas Ball. They were not let down by Team MC. A lovely program was in store. The festivities to welcome 2019 began with a cultural show. ‘Hejje Naada’ troupe made a comeback with excellent dance numbers. The MC’s had some fun games to pep up the gathering. The enthusiastic amongst us got into the spirit of things. The rest were content to watch the entertainment. To the delight of the partygoers, DJ Cletus began to weave his magic with a good mix of Hindi and International dance numbers. The bar was doing brisk business keeping our spirits high. A great food spread awaited the revellers. The MC staff doing a great job of managing things without any fuss. The new year was welcomed with festive fervour as the clock struck 12. The party carried on for a while till the music lasted. We all trooped out of the club with hope in our hearts that the 2019 would be “Happy and Prosperous”!
