July to September 2018 Edition : 9 Dear Friends The rainy season is always a dull period for tennis; and with many of the regions having good rains, tennis activities are always hampered during those few months. Yet, the spirit of tennis players wasn’t dampened. About 10 tennis tournaments of various levels, conducted for the Junior tennis leagues in Pune and Mumbai, were the highlight of the quarter Solapur took the cake, region-wise, hosting the maximum tournaments and camps, taking advantage of the climatic conditions The period also gave a brief respite to our young tennis stars, who took time off to energize themselves for the coming season. The period also marked the elections of the MSLTA Executive Committee for the period of 4. Bharat Oza (Mumbai) and Sunder Iyer (Pune) were unanimously re-elected as the President and the Hon. Secretary General respectively, of the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association for the term 2018-2022. Former President of MSLTA, Sharad Kannamwar has been elected as the Life President of the Association. Rajeev Deshpande of Nasik and Sudhir Bhiwapurkar of Nagpur have been re-elected as the joint secretary and Treasurer of the Association respectively. In the elections held for the Post of Vice Presidents, Mr. Prashant Sutar, Mr. Vishwas Lokare, Mr. Kishor Patil (All Pune), Justice Arvind Sawant, Mr. Pradeep Joshi, (All Mumbai) and Dr. Dileep Rane (New Mumbai) were elected with an overwhelming majority. Mr. Abhishek Tamhane (Pune), Mr. Sheetal Bhosale (Kolhapur), Mr. Milind Deshpande (Parbhani), Mr. Shivam Mor (Yewatmal), Mr. Ali Panjwani (Nanded), Mr. Rajiv Desai (Solapur), Mr. Rajesh Belani, Ms. Varsha Swamy (All Mumbai) were elected as the new council members of the MSLTA. The same was ratified at the Annual General Meeting of the MSLTA which was held in Mumbai. As we have set new targets for the MSLTA Council and will be focusing on making the association stronger. We are happy with the progress we have made by conducting highest number of tournaments of various levels in India. Our tennis players are bringing laurels to the State and excelling at the national and international levels. Now, we will ensure that the sport of tennis is taken to the smaller towns and made affordable. As we get ready for a hectic international season ahead, Maharashtra will be the only state in India to host WTA, ATP Challengers and 4 back-to-back $ 25000 ITF Women's events, coupled by HCL Asian Junior Championships, MV Deo Memorial Gadre Cup ITF Grade 3 event, Yonex Sunrise Junior nationals and other regular events! Dear Friends

The rainy season is always a dull period for tennis; and with many of the

regions having good rains, tennis activities are always hampered during

those few months. Yet, the spirit of tennis players wasn’t dampened.

About 10 tennis tournaments of various levels, conducted for the Junior

tennis leagues in Pune and Mumbai, were the highlight of the quarter

In the elections held for the Post of Vice Presidents, Mr. Prashant Sutar, Mr. Vishwas Lokare, Mr. Kishor Patil (All

Pune), Justice Arvind Sawant, Mr. Pradeep Joshi, (All Mumbai) and Dr. Dileep Rane (New Mumbai) were elected

with an overwhelming majority. Mr. Abhishek Tamhane (Pune), Mr. Sheetal Bhosale (Kolhapur), Mr. Milind

Deshpande (Parbhani), Mr. Shivam Mor (Yewatmal), Mr. Ali Panjwani (Nanded), Mr. Rajiv Desai (Solapur), Mr.

Rajesh Belani, Ms. Varsha Swamy (All Mumbai) were elected as the new council members of the MSLTA.

The results of the elections of the quadrennial elections were announced by the Election Officers Khusrow Shroff and

Nikhil Sampat and presided by Senior Advocate of the High Court, Adv. Mohan Khatavkar at the AGM of the MSLTA

held in Mumbai.

“We hope that our new managing committee which represents all the regions of Maharashtra, will take the game forward in

their respective areas and help create new champions and take the sport of tennis to new level”, said Mr. Bharat Oza,

President of MSLTA.

"We will try and make the association stronger. We are happy with the progress of tennis and are already conducting the

highest number of tournaments in India, and our tennis players are bringing laurels to the state and excelling at the national

and international levels; we will now ensure that tennis is taken to the smaller towns and made affordable for all," said Mr.

Sunder Iyer, who is also an executive Committee member of AITA and the Maharashtra Olympic Association.

Go Sportz Raging lifts third edition of the MUMBAI OPEN Junior

Tennis League

Go Sportz Raging Bulls scored a close 35-30 win over Prime Sports Rising Eagles to lift the third edition of the

MSLTA -Mumbai Open Junior Tennis League organized by Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association (MSLTA)

and played at Dr.G.A. Ranade Tennis Centre in Mumbai.

Winner and runner up team got trophy. The Prizes were given away by Sharad Kannamwar, Life President of

MSLTA. Tournament Director Manoj Vaidya and Tournament Supervisor Payal Jain were present on the occasion

TECPSL Speeding Cheetahs emerge champions at BVG India PMDTA Junior Tennis League

TECPSL Speeding Cheetahs registered a 47-31 win over PESB Roaring Lions to win the fourth edition of the

BVG PMDTA Junior Tennis League organized by PMDTA which concluded at the PYC Hindu Gymkhana Ten-

nis Courts here.

The winner team TECPSL Speeding Cheetahs were awarded a trophy and Rs. 40,000/-, while runner up PESB

Roaring Lions received trophy and Rs.25,000/-. The prizes were given away by PMDTA Vice President Mr.

Prashant Sutar, Treasurer Mr. Kaustubh Shah, Hon. Secretary Mr Abhishek Tamhane and Jt. Secretary of the

PMDTA, Mr.Jayant Kadhe.

In the All Maharashtra Finals, to be played in Mumbai, the winner of the Pune leg TECPSL Speeding Cheetahs

will take on Go Sports Raging Bulls for the trophy.
