Close upsClose ups are used as a way to sell the artist and as a way for the artist to connect with the audience to create a relationship. The close ups used can highlight the emotions of the artist and create an identity of the artist or the music videos main protagonist. We wish to portray the innocence of our main protagonist for our music video as well as the close up of her eye to see her demons.
Long shots
Long shots are used to show and help the audience establish the location of the music video to add to the narrative/the story behind the music video. Long shots are a way of showing the music video from a range on different angles, as above there is a slight low angle shot and a slight high angle shot, creating different perspectives. We wish to use some long shots in our music video so the audience can tell the difference between the location for our narrative and our performance.
Mid shot
Mid shots are used to show the identity of the artist as well as the location to help the audience understand the narrative more. The majority of our music video will be shot using mid shots as it can show the artist close up as well as the location so a relationship can be built between the two, to establish the narrative.
Depth of fieldA depth of field shot can be used to focus on a certain object or person, for example in this shot, the focus is on the artist which helps create a sense of identity for the artist. I like the idea of using a depth of field shot in our music video to place all the focus on certain objects or people, such as the eye in our music video. This will be a good way to make the audience focus on the most important thing in the current shot.
Andrew GoodwinIn this shot, a mirror is used to display part of Andrew Goodwin's theory, the notion of looking as she is looking into a mirror and we are looking at her do this. This shot can be used to assist the way the narrative is portrayed.
