• Online:

An online editing is also know as multi-camera set up, where more than one camera is used to record the same action from different angles, comprising with the sequence of shots in continuity.

Linear:

A tape to tape recording where only the relevant

portions from the source tape are transferred to create an edited version.

Non Linear:

An electronic machine that allows the cutting of images without being physically destroyed to the original footage. A device where all the media files are stored in the hard disk with no destruction.

Editorial script: A print or written matter given by the direction

dept. to the editor with the details of visuals, its origin (rushes) and

position (time code) with the details of shots & takes which is

okayed by the director to use the visual for presenting, having also

the details of duration of the shot and the effects to be given to the

visual. A script which will have the date and approximate time in

hours planned to be edited and miscellaneous time required, total

number of shots in each scene and in each page of the editorial

script at the bottom of it, with the authorized signatories.

TCR: Time Code Recording

This is the method to note the correct shots and the OK takes of theshots and scenes required for editing. It shows the time in detailrecorded in the rushes.

TCR has four counters – Hours – Minutes – Seconds – Frames.24 frames = 1 second. 60 second = 1 minute. 60 minute = 1 hour.

All digital tapes are in the speed of 25 frames per second (fps) and incase of film it is 24 fps.

Use full to locate the material with the help of TCR.

TCR: Time Code Recording

Derivation:TCR is a derived numeric meter by the SMPTE, Society of Motion

Pictures & Television Engineers, who have derived by the calculation

of the speed of the television, film & video cameras.

A digitally encoded signal is recorded visually in the vertical frame

Line is known as VITC (vertical Interval Time Code), where each frame

on a video tape identifies each frame with an arbitrary and ascending

numbers in the format of hours:minutes:seconds:frames (00:01:02:03).
