FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK: NEEDED -- PARENT LEADERS FOR
THE 2017-18 PTA BOARD
M A R C H 2 7 - 3 1 , 2 0 1 7
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Our wonderful 2016-17 PTA Executive Board is
coming to the end of its term and the PTA Nominating Committee is looking for parents who will step into leadership roles for 2017-18. Some of our current PTA Board members are parents of 5th graders and will be leaving the school. Others are termed out in their current positions. Some are willing and able to stand for re-election. But it’s also time for some new people to join the board and move us forward to next year.
The Edison PTA is very important organization. It provides an important forum for parents to meet together and supports parent education and leadership development. PTA organizes signature community events like Fall Festival, Valentine’s Dance and fundraisers like the Jogathon, family dinners at school events, movie nights, and the Corazon de Vida Project. And as a non-profit organization, PTA turns most of the funds that it raises into grants that directly benefit our students. PTA funds extra instructional supplies for teachers, field trips, assemblies, some of our key on-line learning programs, before-school intervention, before and after school drop off supervisors, physical education equipment, etc. Please consider stepping up and becoming part of the PTA Executive Board. When we all wait for someone else with more time or more experience to step forward, we end up with key positions being unfilled. Please contact Maria Loya ([email protected]) or Lori Orum ([email protected]) before spring break if you’d like to nominate yourself or someone else.
NOROVIRUS UPDATE – It has been really tricky to
eliminate this virus on our campus. Our numbers drop and then rebound. We continue with extra cleaning, handwashing, and restrictions on activities. Please report all absences to Kathy Fargnoli (ext. 61-348) and keep children home for 48 hours after their last symptoms. Please do not come to campus yourself if you have had symptoms in the last 48 hours. POTENTIAL PARKING RESTRICTIONS – The City is considering a request from neighborhood residents to make all the streets around Edison zoned for residential permit parking. You can provide feedback by emailing [email protected], writing to City of Santa Monica, Mobility Division, 1685 Main Street, Room 115, Santa Monica, CA 90407-2200, and/or by attending a public hearing at the Pico Branch Library – Community Room this Wednesday, March 29 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. ANUNCIOS
benefician directamente a nuestros estudiantes.
