his has been an amazing year for me, made special by out-of-the-blue invitations to travel to far-fl ung places. The thing about moving into an unfamiliar space where the culture, language, climate and currency is foreign is

that I inevitably compare it to my own reality. Sitting at a sidewalk café in Paris a few months ago,

wearing a summer dress and sandals while reading emails from family and friends in chilly Cape Town, it was hard not to envy the glamorous big-city lifestyle I don’t have.

The thing is, by the time I leave whatever destination I’m at, I’m always raring to go home: I suddenly remember that I fi nd concrete jungles claustrophobic and physically crave SA’s wide open spaces, clear light and clean air.

By the time I land in Cape Town, I can’t wait to hug my husband and hear my kids’ delighted giggles. As much as I love travelling, it always makes me realise that I’m the lucky one, and that I wouldn’t change my life, or the country I call home, for all the champagne in France.

I hope you too are celebrating the end of a wonderful year and that we all enjoy a peaceful and prosperous 2013. Happy shopping!Happy shopping!

7 OMBRE

Nothing epitomises summer more than exotic colours and tropical prints. Piña colada, anyone?

For a look that’s feminine, chic and sophisticated, you can’t go wrong with white lace. It used to be considered demure but now it’s just downright stylish.

Soft and romantic, the ombre trend is a gentle way of easing colour into your wardrobe.
