IntroductionBraids have been popular since the Medieval Era. Hair was braidedelaborately in the Medieval Era in styles similar to the designs we see today.

Because some of the same hair styles from the Medieval Era are coming

back, I put this book together to show you how to do old-fashioned and

new styles of braids. Braids were woven with flowers and decorations

during different holidays. The class of the women depended a great deal

on what hairstyles they wore. While I was traveling in Costa Rica with my mom, I ran out of bobby

pins and needed to find a way to keep my hair off my neck. It was 90

degrees! So I invented the weave (a way to French braid my hair and then

weave the tails back through my hair.) The braided weave was tight and

held in place without pins. And, amazingly, it looked really cool! Everyone

came up to me and stared at my braided weave. They couldnt figure outhow I did it, when they saw it.

After creating the Weave while in Costa Rica, I have designed hun-

dreds of cool braids for all kinds of hair types. Whether you have short or

long hair, straight or frizzy hair, one length or layered hair, youll find braid

designs that will look good and work with your hair.

Simply start by selecting a cool braid. Then, read the instructions. Its best to learn how to do the Basic French braid before trying a fancier

    style.

Creating the part is the most important step. Create the part by

using a comb, and then seperate the hair. Tie off each section with a hair tie

to seperate sections and to make them easier to work with, and start braid-

    ing according to the directions.

Brush or comb out each section as you braid to keep all loose hair

together and to keep the braid tight. If you make a mistake, just back up

and re-braid it. Then continue following my directions.

If you have layered or frizzy hair, use lots of gel to keep loose endstogether and make your hair look perfect. To make your braids look really

fancy, you can accessorize with clips, colored bands, beads, etc...

You can also create your own braids. Parting your hair in different

ways can make braids look completely different. Try weaving extra hair or

putting the excess hair in a ponytail. Braiding is fun.

These braids look fancy but actually are quite simple to do. Withthese easy instructions, you can create beautiful braids. By using your new

braiding skills, you can create amazing braids yourself!

Directions1. The Part: Make the zig zag parts starting at the left temple and continuing all the way until

you reach the neck. Start the next part on the right side approximately the same distance

from the center as the first part and then continue the part until you reach the neck. With

each part, start at the top at approximately the same distance from the center. The last

two parts will swirl around and end at the neck. (See photo)

    2. Put each section of hair into a rubber band so it doesnt get in the way.

    3. Start braiding the top at the left side.

    4. Start braiding very small strands; they get bigger as you continue.

    5. When you have finished braiding all

of the braids, tie them off with

    colorful

    rubber

    bands.
