Runner Sewing Instructions1. Place (1) 2 ½” Fabric C square on the top left corner of (1) 4 ½” Fabric D square, right sides together (Fig. 1). Sew across the diagonal of the smaller square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 1). Flip open the triangle formed and press. Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle ¼” away from the sewn seam (Fig. 2).

2. Follow Figure 3 for the seam direction to add a 2 ½” Fabric C square to each of the remaining corners of the 4 ½” Fabric D square to make (1) Unit 1 square (Fig. 4). Repeat to make (4) Unit 1 squares total.

3. Repeat Steps 1-2 and use Figures 5-7 for fabric identification, location and seam directions to make (4) Unit 2 squares, (4) Unit 3 squares and (4) Unit 4 squares.

Runner Top Assembly (Refer to Figure 8 while assembling.)4. Sew (1) 1 ¼” x 7” Fabric B strip to each side of (1) 7” x 39” Fabric A strip. Sew (1) 1 ¼” x 40 ½” Fabric B strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric A strip to make the Center Block.

5. Sew (1) 4 ½” Fabric C square to the top of (1) Unit 4 square to make (1) left side border strip. Sew (1) 4 ½” Fabric C square to the bottom of (1) Unit 4 square to make (1) right side border strip. Sew the side border strips to the Center Block.

6. Sew together (1) 4 ½” x 20 ½” Fabric C strip, (2) Unit 1 squares, (2) Unit 2 squares, (2) Unit 3 squares and (1) Unit 4 square to make (1) top border strip. Sew together (2) Unit 3 squares, (2) Unit 2 squares, (2) Unit 1 squares, (1) Unit 4 square and (1) 4 ½” x 20 ½” Fabric C strip to make (1) bottom border strip. Sew the resulting strips to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block.

7. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 16 ½” Fabric B strip to each side of the Center Block. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 50 ½” Fabric B strip to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block.

8. Sew (1) 3 ½” x 18 ½” Fabric H strip to each side of the Center Block. Sew (1) 3 ½” x 56 ½” Fabric H strip to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block to make the runner top.

9. Layer and quilt as desired.

10. Sew the (5) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric I strips together, end to end with 45-degree seams, to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and press.

11. Bind as desired.

17. Trace (4) eggs onto the backing fabric. Cut out each egg on the drawn lines.

18. Trace (4) eggs onto the batting. Cut out each egg on the drawn lines.

19. Place the place mat front and place mat back right sides together. Place the layered eggs on top of one batting egg. Sew around the layered pieces, leaving a 3” opening for turning. Turn the place mat out and stitch the opening closed.

20. Quilt as desired to complete.

12. Sew together lengthwise (2) 2 ½” x 30” Fabric E strips, (2) 1 ¼” x 30” Fabric D strips, (2) 3” x 30” Fabric C strips, (2) 1 ¼” x 30” Fabric B strips and (1) 5 ½” x 30” Fabric A strip to make (1) Unit 5 strip (Fig. 9).

14. Trace (2) eggs on top of each Unit 5 strip (Fig. 10). Cut out each egg on the drawn line to make (2) Place Mat #1 fronts (Fig. 11).

15. Sew together lengthwise (2) 2 ½” x 30” Fabric G strips, (2) 1 ¼” x 30” Fabric D strips, (2) 3” x 30” Fabric C strips, (2) 1 ¼” x 30” Fabric B strips and (1) 5 ½” x 30” Fabric F strip to make (1) Unit 6 strip (Fig. 12).

16. Trace (2) eggs on top of each Unit 6 strip (Fig. 13). Cut out each egg on the drawn line to make (2) Place Mat #2 fronts (Fig. 14).
