Dart thuds into the bullseye and character breathes out heavily

“How d’you do that?”“Practice, darl’ practice.”

“This place, it’s more than just a pub. It’s the regulars it’s the memories.”

“Which you’re going to lose anyway”.

“What you doing?”“Don’t do that, Tiffany!”

“Do what?”“Creep up on people”

“Ricky! What are you doing here?”“Kicked me out”

“What’s that? To buy myself an ice cream?”

“You’ve got it spot on”“You’re the first person who’s said that”

“Who have you told?”

“Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying thatBianca’s a bad mother”

Both women continue to argue in thebackground as the male character grows

increasingly exasperated.

“Maybe we should just calm down?”“Be quiet”

“You can’t even bear to hear his name! What doesthat say about your family, hey? Mine might have

cracks in it but at least I still speak to my daughter.When was the last time you spoke to your son?”

“Right everybody listen up. I’m hosting abarbeque in the square at 1 o clock so save

some room for a burger.”

“Will you stop lurking about like that. You’re putting me off”

“I could help”“Yeah? Up or down?”

“What’s it for?”“Mind your own.”

“Is it Billy? I’m right ain’t I”

“Yeah, He’s coming ‘round later.”“Are you two in love?”

“Yeah”“What’s it like?”

“You really wanna know?”

“Ah, just get off, Morgan!”“Oh, yeah, Bianca it’s me. Listen look, look, thekids are here and they want to know what time

you’re going to be back.”

“Ah, excuse me? Is there someone with you?Bianca where exactly are you?”

“Pat, what do you think?”“Not bad!”

“Peggy?”“We’re up here.”

“That bloke of yours is here!”“Well lets hope Ken agrees, hey?”

“Oh no.”“What? I’ll kill her!”

“No, listen, it’s all right. I understand it’s shortnotice. Yep. Thanks, bye.”

High pitched electronic ringtone.

“Hi babe! Oh yeah, listen, about that, why don’t you

wait? Well you know, until the big opening”

“Look don’t worry, alright. You’ve been working so hard it’s going to be fine. Yeah look, I’ll see

you later yeah.”

“You were over at the club? Was Ronnie all right?”“Yeah, why?”

“She sounds a bit stressed, that’s all”“Stressed? Ronnie? Never.”

“So, what did you get your granddad then?”“A book called Cosmic Catalogue. Actually, Uncle Jack it’ll be perfect for you too. I’ve got my copy

here if you want to look.”

“Ah Peggy! Looking even more radiant in the sun.”“Thank you, you old charmer. Would you excuse me

a minuteplease?”

“What the hell do you think you’re playing at?!”“What? Bring the punters in you said. Slice of

the old east end. ‘S what I’ve done.”

“Wow this is a rarity. Charity on your own doorstep.”“Charity?”

“Feeding the homeless. Always been the sign of a successful business, not having to watch the pennies.”

“Oh look! There’s Dot. Where’s Jim?”“He had a fall. He was on his way to the lavatory

and his knee gave way. He’s alright now, just a bit shaky.”

“Poor Jim. But this barbeque, it’s in his honour.”

“Now, why don’t I go and get you a drink?”“Why don’t I come in with you?”

“All right”

“Is there no one else you can think of? Fine. You have a good day too.”

“Right, listen. The way I see it is, you’ve got two choices, right. You can either continue to pretend that

everything’s hunky dory. Or you can admit that you’re not perfect and you can ask me very, very, very nicely for my

help and we will blitz this place together.”“Fine, you can help.”

“Yeah, he’s our instructor so he’s a bit older than us and stuff but we’re on a level.”

“Hmm”

“What?”

“You look really different”

“Would that be the combats? Shouldn’t really be wearing them but I knew mum

would get psyched.”

“It’s just really weird seeing you again.”

“I’m sorry I lied about my leave.”

“Oh no, don’t be! I wouldn’t want to come back to a girlfriend who bangs on about she hates my job

either.”

“Did you come down here to dump me?”“I’m sorry”

“You love me, Billy, yeah. ‘Cause you’ve told me before and I’ve got texts that say it.”

Background noise of people and birds as both characters sit in silence.

“Billy, please. Just tell me you love me.”

“What have you been saying to my kids?!”“Just trying to reassure them”

“Is that why they’re scared half to death thinking I’m going to die of some terminal illness!”

“Oh come off it, they’re in there scared half to death”

“Well it’s not what I want, Bianca”“I’d never desert my kids.”

“What are you talking about you batty old cow?!”

“Once a cheat, always a cheat”

“Well, you’ve got the knack”“It’s in the blood”“You and me both”

“Now, talk to me”“Well, I can’t give you figures off the top of my

head”

“But I’m confident that I’ll put a smile on that gorgeous face of yours”

“Forget about that, I’ve got something cold and bubbly on ice.”

“I think you’ve scored on both accounts!”

“Now then, do you want to do the honours?”
