Recycling is the process of collecting and processing materials that would otherwise be thrown away as trash and turning them into new products. Recycling can benefit your community and the environment.

An average American generates nearly 1 ton of trash a year, but all that waste doesn't have to go to the landfill. We want you to re-cycle your bottles, cans, paper and more! Rumpke offers a convenient curbside recy-cling program in East Cleveland, giving cus-tomers a means to reduce the amount of trash sent to the landfill.

ACCEPTABLE ITEMS TO RECYCLE
Residents can also use their own bags to recycle, a clear bag is preferred but the small blue grocery store bags are also acceptable.
Please place them on the side of your cans do not mix recyclables with
your regular trash
RUMPKE is the official waste removal and recycling service provider for The City of East Cleveland.
Preparing for Pick Up
We encourage you to place your items at the curb or collection the evening prior to your pick-up day. All trash and Recycling must be placed at the curb before 7 a.m. on your collection day.
Bulky Items
Rumpke will collect bulky household items such as beds, furniture, appli-
ances and white goods, from the curb on your regular trash collection day.
Please Call Rumpke 24-hours in advance to schedule a
bulk item pick-up.
Hazardous Materials Rumpke is not legally permitted to col-lect any items deemed hazardous, in-cluding tires and automotive batteries. Please contact the Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District at 216-443-3749 for more information about handling
these items.
RECYCLING FREE BAG PROGRAM
Recycling is easy with the bag program. Each residence can place a recycling bag at the curb for recycling. The recycling bags are available for pick-up at the East Cleveland Service Garage

Paper Products: news papers with inserts, junk mail, magazines, tele-phone books, cardboard boxes, brown paper bags, office and computer pa-per, envelopes with and without win-dows, paperboard (i.e. cereal boxes and beverage cartons) folders and catalogs.
Plastic Bottles: all bottles and jugs such as soda bottles, water bot-tles, milk jugs, laundry detergent bottles, ketchup bottles, salad dress-ing bottles, shampoo bottles and con-tact solution bottles. (no need to re-move labels, please remove caps).
Glass Bottles: brown, clear, green and blue (no need to re-move labels).
Aluminum Cans: beverage and food cans
Steel Cans: food and soup cans and aerosol cans with tips removed (no need to remove labels)
Place them about 2 ft away from your cans and/or trash bags.
