East Asian Studies at Trinity (EAST) is an interdisciplinary degree that com-bines intensive study of East Asian languages and cultures with the study of the social sciences and business in an East Asian context. Graduates of the program will have mastered pro-fi ciency of the language and achieved an advanced level of understanding across the curriculum. The intent of the program is to culturally prepare students as future leaders in many sectors of the global environment.

DISTINCTIONS
• The program draws from seven University departments offering cut-ting-edge interdisciplinary coursework
which includes Art History, Business Administration, Chinese, Economics, History, Philosophy, Political Science, and Religion.
• EAST sponsors the China in the Schools internship, offering students a chance to develop teaching skills in a real-world situation. Students spend the summer in Hong Kong studying at Lingnan University and conducting service in the community.
STUDENT EXPERIENCE
• EAST sponsors a language fl oor in a selected residence hall where students studying Chinese and Japa-nese room with native-speakers and exchange students from China, Korea, and Taiwan. Activities and excur-sions are planned and organized to enhance the experience.
• Trinity currently exchanges students with three universities in Chinese-speaking regions of the world—Lingnan University in Hong Kong, National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China. We also have exchange agreements with two Korean Universities—Ewha and Yonsei in Seoul.
• The University sponsors a Chinese Culture Club, a Korean Students As-sociation, and a Vietnamese Students Association.
