EARTH DAY EXPO 2016 Wednesday, 6 April, 10am - 2pm ECU in partnership with the Australia Association for Environmental Education (AAEE) and Earth Day Network wish to invite you and your students to attend the 2016 Earth Day Expo. There will be a range of earth day lessons, animal encounters and earthy creations for students in primary school to experience. Students will be able to have fun while learning important skills of how to live sustainably at home and at school. Teachers will be able to gather information about existing and new programs to enhance their classroom connections with the environment . The day will be split into five, 35 minute sessions with a lunch break and enter tainment so come and enjoy a day out at the university courtesy of ECU, AAEE an Earth Day Network. EARTH DAY EXPO 2016

Wednesday, 6 April, 10am - 2pm

ECU in partnership with the Australia Association for Environmental Education (AAEE) and Earth Day Network wish to invite you and your students to attend the 2016 Earth Day Expo. There will be a range of earth day lessons, animal encounters and earthy creations for students in primary school to experience.

Students will be able to have fun while learning important skills of how to live sustainably at home and at school.

Workshop Aboriginal Cultural Celebration - Learn about the significance of Aboriginal dance and its integral relationships with the land.

Birds of Prey Birds of Prey Live - An exciting interactive learning experience incorporating an educational talk with a visual display of some of our unique birds of prey.

Ranger Red Ranger Red- A hands on educational experience with various types of feathered, furred and scaly West Australian critters. An opportunity to learn about habitats, diets and adaptation of our unique wildlife.

Indigenous Celebration - Learn about the significance of face painting as part of the Dreaming from an amazing storyteller. Children can have their face painted as part of this activity.

Western Shield Western Shield - Students will be able to learn about setting traps and carry out weigh and measure activities on some replica animal species, as well as record the data obtained. These activities will help students understand the importance of monitoring threatened native animal species as a conservation strategy.

Old Ways-Students will learn Traditional Nyoongar bush craft techniques to make tools from elements in their natural environment.

In the swim Life in the ECU pond - Collect your own water samples and get the chance to explore the world of micro-organisms through a microscope. Learn about the secret world of life in the water around you and how we are connected.

Birdlife Australia Birdlife Australia-Explore the amazing diversity of our native birds. Learn techniques of bird spotting, identification and protection.

Keep Australia Beautiful

What’s living in your compost - Dive into a world filled with mini beasts ranging from worms to pseudo scorpions and see them up close and personal. Students use magnifying cups to explore the diversity of life found in a backyard compost.

Department of Fisheries

Ocean Organisms – Explore the myriad of organisms that are found washed up on the beach. Identify, classify and learn a range of fun facts about these organisms.

Webs of Life Webs of Life- Students will explore how different elements of our environment connect, support and rely on each other.

‘Where does this go?’ - Activities and games to discover where we can take things when we no longer need them. Does it really need to go in the bin?? What other options are there and how can we have less to start with!
