PROGRAM ELEMENTSIntellectual Development Center-based program, focusing on different interest areas, including, but not limited to:• Language and Literacy – Vocabulary and language, letters,

words, sounds, comprehension, phonics, reading readiness, handwriting and pencil grip, name recognition

• �Math and�Numbers – Number recognition and concept, comparing, sorting, shapes, patterns, measurement, beginning number operations

• Art – Thematically planned and developmentally appropriate painting, drawing, cutting, pasting, and easel work, clay, finger painting

• Science – Age appropriate experiments, thematic planning, study of living things, environment, earth, culture

Physical Development Physical development includes dramatic play, toys and games, blocks, sensory table exploring, manipulatives, fine and gross motor coordination and daily outdoor play.

Social Development Early Childhood curriculum and activities are designed to promote skills beyond self. Children are encouraged to build on interaction with others, teachers and groups. Children are also taught the important life skills of sharing, respecting others, appropriately resolving conflict and communicating with words.

Emotional Development Play and learning in our Early Childhood Program focuses on promoting self confidence and a positive self image that will lay the foundation for success in school and life. Our teachers introduce skills relevant to children’s development and interests and foster independence and self-assurance.

Spiritual Development We encourage children’s spiritual growth by incorporating lessons on faith, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, kindness and love into our curriculum. We utilize prayer, music and devotionals to connect learning about faith to living in faith.

DISTINCTIVE FEATURESDaily Chapel Children attend chapel services, which include prayer, songs and a children’s lesson led by our Early Childhood and Lower School Chaplain.

Godly Play A weekly enrichment, Godly Play is an outstanding method of Christian education and spiritual direction for children.

Science Lab Children experience hands-on science through lessons and experiments in earth, physical and life sciences. 

Art Early Childhood students create works of art through experimentation of different media planned around the basic elements and principles of art: line, shape, color, value, form, texture and shape.

Music Using the MusikGarten curriculum, music enrichment incorporates instruments, songs and stories that align with classroom curricular themes. 

Spanish Early Childhood Spanish curriculum is planned to introduce core vocabulary, colors, numbers and animals through verbal interaction, music and hands-on activities and books.

Technology Lab/Library Students are introduced to basic computer and iPad skills. The EC Library is filled with books to help promote the love of reading. SmartTables enhance their library experience with educational software.

Integrated, Literature-Based, Mathematics-Visual Arts Program Under the guidance of Dr. Robin Ward, a Ph.D. mathematics educator and author, children learn about artists by viewing and discussing images of their work. Students discover and explore the mathematics embedded in or used by the artist in his/her works and follow up by creating their own artifact.

Creative Dance Early Childhood students participate in a weekly Creative Dance class where they channel their imagination, creativity and self expression through dance. The children dance and dramatically act out characters to different musical pieces.

RANGE (Research, Adventure, Nature, Geology & Ecology) Students visit the RANGE, a 16-acre educational preserve located on the All Saints’ campus. Children learn about subjects relating to the RANGE area, which includes a pond, distinctive prairie grasslands and wetlands and a community garden.
