Four Preventive or Delaying Steps You Need to Know

According to the newspaper, USA WEEKEND, about 79 millionAmericans have pre-diabetes. Are you part of that group or onyour way to be? If you regularly have above normal blood sugar,

    then you are.

Here are four steps to help prevent or delay a diabetes diagnosis:

Lose 7% of your body weight.

Exercise 30 minutes five days a week.

Moderate level exercises, such as brisk walking, playingtennis, lifting weights and even scrubbing floors, is suffi

    cient.

Take natural supplements or medicine, if need be, tocontrol your glucose levels and keep cholesterol and bloodpressure in line, because pre-diabetes raises your risk of heart

    disease and stroke by 50%.

Have your blood sugar checked regularly to see if you areimproving or if you need to add more precautionary behaviors

    to your lifestyle.

An additional measure totake is to attend our WLBCDiabetes Support Group (seebelow). Non-church membersare welcome, so please inviteall interested individuals to

    come.

Helpful hymns when paying your taxes

Put a song in your heart as April 15

approaches. As you contemplate "What a daythat will be" and anxiously wonder, "What if it

were today?", you may be asking, "And can itbe that I should gain?" If you complain, "I am

not skilled to understand" and wish you hadbeen "A debtor to mercy alone," you probably

can find that your "Days are filled with sorrow

and care" and feel "Shackled by a heavyburden." "Trembling soul, beset by fears," "Be

not dismayed, whate'er betide." Just "Let yourhearts be broken," knowing that "God will take

care of you" as you say, "I surrender all." Whenyou realize that "Now the day is over," you canexperience "Peace, perfect peace" and joyfully

    exclaim, "It took a miracle!"

    -Joan Brauning, Coatesville PA
