What is Humic Acid: Humic Acid is naturally occurring, organic substance found in lignite etc. Though it is not a substitute to chemical fertilizers and bio-fertilizers, It increases water retention, retains nutrients and enhances microbiological activity, enzymes in soil etc. Lignite contains more of humic acid, which is plant bio-stimulant (promotes plant growth) and contains plant nutrients such as nitrogen, potassium, iron, calcium, sulphur, manganese, molybdenum (0.10 – 6.0%), copper, zinc, magnesium, boron (20-200 ppm) etc. - hence beneficial to crops. It is soluble in water and has high biological activity in soil conditions. Ram Industries manufactures the same Humic Acid near Villupuram.

Functions of Humic Acid: Humic acid helps to retain the nutrients and soil moisture, supports microbial activity, and nitrogen fixation, and increases the yield minimum from 20-30%. It improves soil physical property, cat-ion exchange capacity (CEC), water holding capacity, drought tolerance ability; protect plants from physical/soil stress and increase soil microorganisms, biological activity. This also prevents loss of nutrients from soil (ie leaching / run off) and act as a storehouse by keeping plant nutrients in soil. It increases crop growth and yield, soil fertility status and reduces use of chemical fertilizers.

Page 3: E-Brochure Ram Industries 18 May FINAL

Stimulating beneficial microbial activity and root growth, long-term research showed that humic substances bond many organic and non-organic substances into poorly soluble or insoluble compounds, so it reduces the toxic effect of residual amounts of herbicides, soil polluting radio nuclides, heavy metals, and other harmful substances, as well as radiation and chemical contamination.

Improve crop stress-resistance ability, it has been proved that the humates help to fight the effect of droughts and ensures their drought resistance. Long-term experience in the use of humates has shown that their presence is important during all stages of plants’ development but particularly vital in early stages.

The pre-planting treatment of seeds is very important. Even before germination begins, vital forces are awakened, and the immune system is stimulated. Increase the yield and quality of various crops. Humates contain more biologically active components, and it directly affects their use.

Why Humic Acid Necessary :

25 billion tons per year of topsoil lost

worldwide and India is losing 4.7

billion tons a year, mostly through

water erosion. In a survey, it has been

reported that 6000 million tones of

productive soil is lost every year from

about 80 million hectare of cultivated

land in India.

In general, it has been proved that

the crop yields have increased from

10 to 30% apart from reduction of

chemical fertilizers, which adversely

affects environment.

Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC), Neyveli

Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC),

Neyveli is classified as Mini Ratna of

Govt. Of India has started a project

whose main objective is microbial

extraction of humic acid from lignite.

Finally, NLC has successfully

developed a process for extracting

humic acid in the form of Potassium

humate from lignite.

First phase of field trials commenced

at different agro-climatic conditions

viz, Vridhachalam, Athur,

Coimbatore, Bhavanisagar, Pollachi,

Alandurai and crops like groundnut,

sugarcane, paddy, green gram and

black gram were tested with varying

levels of humic acid. Application of

humic acid increased the yield by

40% when compared to crops in

groundnut samples harvested at

Vriddhachalam. Field experiments

were completed with Rice crop at

Aduthurai, Cauvery Delta and

significant yield increase was

recorded for the application of humic

FUTURE IS HUMIC ACID:

By 2050, when Indian population

touches around 150 crore, our

farming community faces a huge

challenge of increasing its

production many folds to feed them.

Unfortunately, the cultivable land

(142.3 million hectares) remains the

same or will shrink in size. In

addition, India is losing about 4.7

billion tonnes of top soil every year

through water erosion. Re-instate of

soil fertility is utmost important

besides increasing the soil fertility.

So, the only option left is to use

humic acid.

Humic Acid is being produced in

various ways. However, the

technology developed by NRDC and

perfected by NLC is producing humic

acid from Lignite.

By using the Humic Acid developed

& perfected by Central Govt.

Agencies and recommended by State

Govt. Agriculture department

officials, you ensure the best for

your crop.

Ram Industries plans to adapt model

farms in each potential agricultural

area to show the benefits of humic

acid. So, you can see for yourself the

benefits of humic acid.

We welcome you all to participate in

the Second Green Revolution

process in India.
