Technological Concepts
Introduction
Students need time and opportunity to explore these; to
appreciate the breadth, depth, and subtlety of meaning that
attaches to them; to learn that different people view them from
different perspectives; and to understand that meaning is not
static.
By approaching the key concepts in different ways and by
revisiting them in different contexts within a relatively short time
span, students come to refine and embed their understanding of
them.

Screenshot
A screenshot, or screen
capture, is a picture
taken of your computer's
desktop. This may include
the desktop background,
icons of files and folders,
and open windows.
Scanner
A scanner is an input
device that scans
documents such as
photographs and pages
of text. When a
document is scanned, it is
converted into a digital
format.
Secondary
Memory
Refers to storage devices,
such as hard drives and
solid state drives. It may
also refer to removable
storage media, such as
USB flash drives, CDs, and
DVDs.

Server
A server is a computer
that provides data to
other computers. It may
serve data to systems on
a local area network
(LAN) or a wide area
network (WAN) over the
Internet.
Speakers
Speakers are one of the
most common output
devices used with
computer systems. Some
speakers are designed to
work specifically with
computers, while others
can be hooked up to any
type of sound system.

Telecomunications
Telecommunications, or
telecom, is the
transmission of signals
over long distances. It
began with the invention
of the telephone in 1876,
and then expanded to
radio broadcasts in the
late 1800s and to
television in the early
1900s.
Tablet
A tablet, or tablet PC, is a
portable computer that
uses a touchscreen as its
primary input device.
Most tablets are slightly
smaller and weigh less
than the average laptop.
Toolbar
A toolbar is a set of icons
or buttons that are part of
a software program's
interface or an open
window. When it is part of
a program's interface, the
toolbar typically sits
directly under the menu
bar.

Touchscreen
A touchscreen is a display
that also serves as an
input device. Some
touchscreens require a
proprietary pen for input,
though most modern
touchscreens detect
human touch.
Tutorial
A computer tutorial is an
interactive software
program created as a
learning tool. Tutorials
help people learn new
skills by using a step-by-
step process that ensures
the user is following along
and comprehending the
material.

Undo
Undo is a command
included in most software
programs. It is typically
located at the top of the
Edit menu and has the
standard shortcut
"Control+Z" in Windows
and "Command-Z" in Mac
OS X. The Undo
command allows you to
undo the last action you
performed in the
program.
Upload
While downloading is
receiving a file from
another computer,
uploading is the exact
opposite. It is sending a
file from your computer to
another system. Pretty
straight forward.
URL
Stands for "Uniform
Resource Locator." A URL
is the address of a
specific Web site or file on
the Internet. It cannot
have spaces or certain
other characters and uses
forward slashes to denote
different directories.

USB
Stands for "Universal Serial
Bus." USB is the most
common type of
computer port used in
today's computers. It can
be used to connect
keyboards, mice, game
controllers, printers,
scanners, digital cameras,
and removable media
drives, just to name a few.
Username
A username is a name
that uniquely identifies
someone on a computer
system. For example, a
computer may be setup
with multiple accounts,
with different usernames
for each account.
Conclusions
It is important to manage and know about
technical vocabulary, so we can talk
appropriately. Images can help us to understand some
technical vocabulary that will help us to
develop in our professional life.
