Easter Sunday: Very early in the morning after the Sabbath, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb to anoint Jesus’ body with precious oils.

The reward of this good and conscientious steward was to be among

the first to know that Jesus had been raised from the dead! Alleluia!

LORD HEAR OUR PRAYER … For those who are ill, and those in need of our prayers …

Queridos hermanos, dear brothers and sisters, "He loved us, and out of love He made Himself weak. And

with His weakness, He heals my weakness; He heals your weakness. ‘ Give yourself over to His love!’ Show Him your weakness, that He may make you strong! And do not overlook, as you go about the city, the many faces of the weak men and women, who also need of the loving look of your understanding!" - Pope Francis Happy Easter! Sincerely in Christ, Msgr. Gabe Gonzales

    Reflection on Today’s Readings:

FOCUS: The Easter symbols remind us of our life in Christ and our commitment to Him. We have been purified of sin, made anew, and restored to life through the death and resurrection of Christ. The Easter symbols of water, light and white garment are reminders of our transformation and unity with Christ. Easter celebrates what Christ has done for us and is a time to renew our sacred commitment to Christ.

LITURGY OF THE WORD: Peter was not afraid to give witness to the salvation that comes through the life, death, and resurrection of Christ. Paul reminds the Colossians that they have died in Christ. They are to be one with Him now and on the day of resurrection. In John’s Gospel we hear the account of the first witnesses of the Resurrection and their reactions.

Masses: Sat: 5:30 pm. Sun: 7:30 am. Sun: 9:00 am. Sun: 10:30 am. Sun: 12:00 NN. Sun: 7:30 pm.

Living Faith for Kids… “For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God” Col 3:3

On this glorious day we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. We also celebrate our own baptism, the day we died to sin and were reborn in Christ.

St. Paul in his letter to the Colossians reminds us that our new life is “hidden with Christ in God.” When Jesus returns or we return to Him in death, then we will see the glory of our new life. Until that day, let us celebrate with great joy all that the Lord has done for us.

Father in heaven, thank you for giving me a share in the life of Jesus. May I grow in faith, hope and love throughout my life.

CHRIST HAS RISEN Where is your sting, O death? Where is your victory, O hell? Christ has risen, and you are

overthrown. Christ has risen, and the demons have fallen. Christ has risen, and the angels rejoice.

Christ has risen, and life reigns. Christ has risen, and not one dead rests in the grave. For Christ

having risen from the dead became the first-fruits of them that slept. To him be glory and majesty

to ages of ages. Amen. —Byzantine Pentekostarion

Jesus is risen, Alleluia! They saw the cloths lying there...and they believed. - John 20:8 Every Easter, a man named Eddie would turn to all the people near him and with great gusto and conviction proclaim: “He is risen, Alleluia!” It was startling because we usually don’t say these words to one another; it’s not in the liturgical script. After Eddie’s declaration of faith, I would think, “Can I say that with all my heart? Can I say out loud, ‘He is risen!’? Can I look others in the eye and say Alleluia!?” It’s not something we Christians do in a ritual way, but it is something we proclaim through our daily lives. Though Lent is over, we can continue to fast from what keeps us from God, give generously of our time and money, and continue the practice of quiet prayer before God. Jesus was dead in the tomb and is alive again, so He doesn’t leave us alone with these challenges. He is with us, guiding, healing, loving us. He helps us step apart, to become holy and whole as His beloved followers. We rejoice that death could not hold Him. “They saw the cloths lying there...and they believed.” We may not say it out loud, but we want very much to believe it. He is risen! Alleluia! PRAYER: Risen Christ, walk with me this glorious day and always. Fill my heart with joy that you are alive and with me. May “Alleluia” be my song. - taken from Lent 2014, Joy in the Journey, Daily Reflections, Practices & Prayers, © Gwen Costello

Fact of Life: Susan B. Anthony (1889), abolitionist and early leader of the women's suffrage movement, opposed abortion, saying: "Sweeter even than to have had the joy of caring for children of my own has it been to me to help bring about a better state of things for mothers generally, so their unborn little ones could not be killed away from them." “Indeed the tragedy of abortion haunts women from all walks of life. Abortion advocates are spending millions to package their tired rhetoric and half-truths in cutting-edge advertising campaigns targeted to young women... The early feminists were pro-life. And really, abortion is a huge disservice to women, and it hasn't been presented that way." -- Emmy winning actress, Patricia Heaton, from Everybody Loves Raymond

Save The Date: VBS! Vacation Bible School will take place July 14 to July 18, 2014

This year’s theme is SON TREASURE ISLAND!

TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION The Lenten journey is now complete, its mission of renewal and preparation to receive new life fulfilled. The call to worship the Risen Lord has been received, and we gather to experience together the consoling presence of Christ in word and sacrament. We are at our best today, crowded and cramped to be sure, but the fullest sign of who were are meant to be. Christ has claimed us in the waters of baptism, we have acquired wonderful companions, and together we can accomplish great things. This is the day for rekindling the old flames of baptismal commitment, so we light the paschal candle, and by its light we make yet again the ancient promises to reject evil’s grip and empty promises. Today we do not recite the Creed, but respond with one voice to age-old questions. New life has to be nurtured, both the life of the newly baptized and the renewed life of those who have passed through Lent’s refining prayer, fasting, and giving alms. At any Mass during the next fifty days, you may be surprised by grace and splashed by water! —Rev. James Field, Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
