• Leading manufacturers and plants are working with DOE through the “Better
Plants” program to:
• Improve their energy intensity, usually by 25% over ten years
• Develop energy management plans
• Track and report their annual progress
• The average energy intensity improvement rate has exceeded the 2.5% per year
benchmark rate required to stay on track with the program’s long-term 25% goal.
