DRUG SITUATION REPORT/SIGNIFICANT EVENTS

REPORT FOR INDIA FOR THE MONTH OF

AUGUST 2016

This report is based on the information received from

various State and Central drug law enforcement agencies

till the end of August 2016. Significant seizures effected

earlier but reported during August 2016 are also

incorporated in this report.

SEIZURES EFFECTED IN THE MONTH OF AUGUST, 2016

On 01/02.08.2016, officers of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Mumbai and Customs, Pune conducted joint operation and busted 01 illicit clandestine laboratory at Taluka Daund, Pune, Maharashtra and seized 159.100 kg of Mephedrone & laboratory equipments. 01 person was arrested.

On 02.08.2016, officers of NCB, Amritsar Sub Zone in coordination with BSF Khemkaran, Punjab seized 14.060 kg of Heroin. The suspected source of the seized drug was South West Asia.

On 02.08.2016, officers of Central Bureau of Narcotics, Bareilly seized 1.500 kg of Hashish at Bareilly Budaun Road, Bareilly. 01 person was arrested.

On 03.08.2016, officers of NCB, Bangalore Zonal Unit seized 115 gram of Cocaine, 43 gram of Methamphetamine, 30 gram of MDMA, 02 gram of cocaine in tablet form and 0.25 gram blots of LSD at T.C. Palya, Bangalore. 02 Nigerian nationals were arrested.

On 03.08.2016, officers of NCB, Kolkata Zonal Unit in coordination with BSF seized 500 gram Heroin at Murshidabad, West Bengal.

On 03.08.2016, officers of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Gorakhpur, intercepted a Bus at LCS Sonauli and seized 3.596 Kg of Cocaine. The drug was concealed in inner surface of trolley bag. 01 person was arrested. The suspected source of the seized drug was Nepal.

On 04.08.2016, officers of NCB, Amritsar Sub Zone arrested 01 person and seized 5000 injection containing Buprenorphine at Bus Stand, Sector-17, Chandigarh in follow up operation conducted in connection with the seizure of Crime No. 29/2016 dated 19.07.2016.

On 04.08.2016, officers of NCB, Ahmedabad Zonal Unit seized 100 tablets of Acetaminophen Hydrocodone at National Sorting Hub, Ahmedabad.

On 04.08.2016, officers of NCB, Patna Zonal Unit seized 80.300 kg of Ganja at Patna. 04 persons were arrested.

On 04.08.2016, officers of Customs, Air Cargo Exports, New Delhi seized 19.700 kg of Amphetamine at CELEBI Delhi Cargo Terminal Management India Pvt. Ltd., IGI Airport, New Delhi. 01 person was arrested. The suspected destination of the seized drug was Zambia.

On 05.08.2016, on the basis of input received from NCA, United Kingdom and NCB Hqrs, the officers of NCB, Delhi Zonal Unit conducted a Controlled Delivery operation and seized 500 gram of Cocaine at Khadda Colony Extension, Jaitpur, Badarpur, New Delhi. 03 persons including 01 Nigerian National were arrested. The suspected destination of the seized drug was Tobago.

On 06.08.2016, on the basis of input received from NCA, United Kingdom and NCB Hqrs, the officers of NCB, Guwahati Zonal Unit conducted a Controlled Delivery operation and seized 110 gram of Cocaine at Vaivakawa Sub Post Office, Aizawl. 01 person was arrested.

On 06.08.2016, officers of NCB, Ahmedabad Zonal Unit seized 31.900 kg of Ganja at Maninager Railway Station, Ahmedabad. 03 persons were arrested.

On 07.08.2016, officers of NCB, Chennai Zonal Unit seized 290 kg of Ganja at Village Gamparai, Vizag near Vanagaram Toll Gate. 02 persons were arrested.

On 07.08.2016, officers of NCB, Lucknow Zonal Unit seized 5.000 kg of Hashish at Rupaidiha . 02 persons were arrested.

On 08.08.2016, officers of NCB, Mandi Sub Zone seized 392 gram of Hashish at NH21, Near Dhondi Panchayat Bhawan, Tehsil Bahl, District Mandi. 04 persons were arrested.

On 08.08.2016, officers of NCB, Chandigarh Zonal Unit seized 1.470 kg of Opium along with Indian currency Rs. 57,600/- at Sector-20, Panchkula, Haryana. 01 person was arrested.

On 09.08.2016, officers of NCB, Ahmedabad Zonal Unit seized 8,43,600 tablets of Alprazolam, 49,700 tablets of Zolpidem and 300 tablets of Oxycodone at Vadodara. 02 persons were arrested. The suspected destination of the seized drug was USA & Europe.

On 10.08.2016, officers of NCB, Chandigarh Zonal Unit seized 610 gram of Heroin at Aadarsh Nagar, Zirakpur. 02 persons were arrested.

On 10.08.2016, officers of NCB, Patna Zonal Unit seized 134.200 kg of Ganja at Gaya. 02 persons were arrested.

On 11.08.2016, officers of NCB, Chandigarh Zonal Unit seized 2.700 kg of Opium along with Indian currency Rs. 20,500/- at ISBT, Sector-43, Chandigarh. 02 persons were arrested.

On 11.08.2016, officers of Central Bureau of Narcotics, Neemuch seized 1.380 kg of Opium at Messy Fargusan Chauraha, Neemuch. 01 person was arrested.

On 12.08.2016, officers of NCB Ahmedabad Zonal Unit conducted follow up operation in connection with the seizure affected on 09.08.2016 and seized 21,200 tablets of Diazepam, 38,200 tablets of Zolpidem, 3,600 tablets of Alprazolam, 10,000 tablets of Lorazepam, 1000 tablets of Clonazepam, 138 grams of ONAX and 35 grams of Oxycodone. 02 persons were arrested. The suspected destination of the seized drug was USA & Europe.

On 13.08.2016, officers of NCB Jodhpur Zonal Unit seized 29.400 kg of Poppy straw at Bikaner. 01 person was arrested.

On 17.08.2016, officers of NCB, Lucknow Zonal Unit seized 3.550 kg of Hashish at Rupaidiha. 1 Nepal National was arrested. The suspected source of the seized drug was Nepal.

On 18.08.2016, officers of NCB, Lucknow Zonal Unit seized 3.030 kg of Heroin at Mughal Sarai Railway Station, Mughal Sarai, Chandauli. 01 person was arrested.

On 19.08.2016, officers of NCB, Bhubaneswar Sub Zone seized of 6.000 kg of Ganja & 390 gram of Opium at Village Indupur, PS Satyabadi, Puri, Odisha. 01 person was arrested.

On 20.08.2016, officers of NCB, Kolkata Zonal Unit seized 450 gram of Heroin at Dakbanglow More, Barasat, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal. 01 person was arrested.

On 20.08.2016, officers of NCB, Kolkata Zonal Unit in coordination with SSB seized 3.700 kg of Methaqualone at Integrated Check Post (ICP) of SSB, Panitanki, Darjeeling, West Bengal 02 persons were arrested. The suspected source of the seized drug was Nepal.

On 20.08.2016, officers of Goa Police, Anit Narcotic Cell, Goa seized 41 gram of Ganja & 4 gram of LSD at Anjuna, Bardez, Goa. 01 Costa Rica national was arrested.

On 21.08.2016, officers of NCB, Amritsar Sub Zone in coordination with BSF, Khasa, Amritsar, Punjab seized 3.800 kg of Suspected Powder. The suspected source of the seized drug was South West Asia.

On 21.08.2016, officers of NCB, Lucknow Zonal Unit seized 7.850 kg of Opium at Mughalsarai. 01 person was arrested.

On 22.08.2016, officers of NCB, Amritsar Sub Zone in coordination with BSF, Khasa, Amritsar, Punjab seized 2.000 kg of Suspected Powder. The suspected source of the seized drug was South West Asia.

From 22.08.2016 to 29.08.2016, officers of NCB Sub Zone Mandi along with local police, Gram Panchayats members, Mahila Mandal, Yuva Mandals, School children and NGOs actively participating in destruction of illicit cannabis cultivation in Himachal Pradesh in which 3121.558 acre of Cannabis plants uprooted.

On 24.08.2016, officers of NCB, Lucknow Zonal Unit in coordination with SSB Maharajganj seized 3.000 kg of Cocaine at SSB Check Post, Sonauli, Maharajganj. 01 person was arrested. The suspected source of the seized drug was Nepal/South America. Further, in follow up operation NCB, Delhi Zonal Unit arrested 01 person along with 100 gram of Ganja.

On 24.08.2016, officers of NCB, Ajmer Sub Zone seized 36.900 kg of Ganja and busted an interstate Ganja trafficking network. 03 persons were arrested.

On 25.08.2016, officers of NCB, Mumbai Zonal Unit seized 43.070 kg of Hashish at Borivali Railway Station. 03 persons were arrested.

On 25.08.2016, officers of NCB Kolkata Zonal Unit seized 1700 bottles of Phensedyl Cough Syrup containing Codeine at RPF post of Sealdah Railway Station of Eastern Railway, Kolkata, West Bengal.

On 27.08.2016, officers of NCB Chandigarh Zonal Unit seized 2.800 kg of Opium at ISBT Sector-17, Chandigarh.02 persons were arrested.

On 29.08.2016, officers of Central Bureau of Narcotics, Bareilly seized 1.000 kg of Opium near Invertis University, Bareilly. 01 person was arrested.

On 31.08.2016, officers of NCB Madurai Sub Zone affected a case of seizure of 85.900 Kgs of Ganja at Madurai. 02 persons were arrested.

On 31.08.2016, officers of NCB, Lucknow Zonal Unit seized 3.900 kgs of Opium at Mughalsarai and 01 person was arrested.

On 31.08.2016, officers of NCB, Jammu Zonal Unit seized 289 bottles of CoughRex Syrup and Rexcough Syrup at Lakahanpur Check Post. 01 person was arrested.

During the month of August, 2016, officers of Sashatra Seema Bal (SSB) seized 897 gram of Heroin, 57.270 kg of Hashish, 3.177 kg of Opium and 37.550 kg of Ganja in 35 cases and arrested 42 persons including 14 Nepalese nationals. The suspected source of the seized drugs in most of these cases was Nepal.
