Hot Topics 86: First Australians by Professor Larissa Behrendt

Looks at the diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, how they are defined, where they live and their cultural engagement.

It examines their socio-economic profiles in relation to health, education, housing, employment and criminal justice. Discusses the concepts of self-representation, self-determination and sovereignty. A section on land covers Mabo, land rights and Native title.
