TO OUR FRIENDS, old and new, we say welcome back to our beautiful Coastside, thanks for your support, and have a most wonderful time here. We’re delighted to be pre-senting our 25th annual show and proud to say it keeps getting bigger and better every year. The show is not only fun for exhibitors and spectators, it also benefits the function-ally disabled members of our community; and for that we again say, thank you.

Each year the Coastside Adult Day Health Center uses all the proceeds to preserve existing programs and, in some cases, to establish new ones. Thanks in part to your support, we opened the sparkling new Coastside Adult Community Center this past year. Drop by the fabulous new facility we share with Senior Coastsiders at 925 Main St. in Half Moon Bay. All the volunteers hope you enjoy this year’s show. Please tell your friends about it and join us every year on the last weekend of April.

Drive Safely, Bob Senz, show founder Chad Hooker, show chairman Bob Pelikan, show co-chairman

TO OUR VOLUNTEERS: On behalf of the Board of Directors, staff, and most importantly, participants of the Coastside Adult Day Health Center, thank you for volunteering your time during the Pacific Coast Dream Machines. This event is a critical source of funds to support our program costs. It is because of people like you, our volunteers, that this event is such a remarkable success.

The costs of providing our participants with the real needs they require to main-tain optimum independence are more than most can afford to pay. The profits from this event provide us with the means to assist those participants who need it, keep-ing them close to family and friends and in the community many of them helped to build. Your time and effort is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely, Janie Bono, CADHC executive director

a revered and time-honored Coastside tradition roars into town on Sunday, April 26, when the Pacific Coast Dream Machines Show comes to Half Moon Bay Airport. Thanks in large part to the vision and leadership of longtime

Coastside resident Bob Senz, for the past 25 years the Pacific Coast Dream Machines Show has celebrated the glories of vintage warbirds, gleaming cars, tricked out trucks and motorcycles, antique engines and tractors in a spectacular showcase of motorized mechanical marvels from throughout the 20th and 21st centuries.

To mark this year’s 25th anniversary, organizers are planning a special tribute to honor Senz, the late Eddie Andreini and their families, as well as other key early organizers. The tribute is scheduled for 3 p.m. in the music stage area.

Proceeds benefit the Coastside Adult Day Health Center. Offering a variety of daily activities and health services, the CADHC has enhanced the quality of life for individuals with brain impairments associated with dementia as well as provided support for their caregivers since 1982.

Senz, the driving force behind the Dream Machines Show, originated the idea when the CADHC board of directors asked him to help start a fundraiser. Think-ing about an event that would attract a broader base of visitors, participants and vendors, Senz and the board directors decided on the Pacific Coast Dream Machines Show. “I knew in my heart it would be a success,” Senz says.

His heart was right on the money. Thousands of visitors have passed through the Dream Machine gates over the years garnering tens of thousands of dollars. He and wife Barbara moved to the San Mateo Coastside in the 1970s, opened Ocean Shore Hardware, and have been involved with community ever since.

“The Coastside Adult Day Health Center has grown and prospered over the years, due in no small part to the support from the community at large and the Dream Machines Show in specific,” said Chad Hooker, Dream Machines Show committee chair. “Bob had a clear vision for the Dream Machines. The larger community also benefits from this marquee event that brings tourists and dollars to the coast and helps support the numerous nonprofits that participate.”

Hooker credits Senz with doing the work himself for the first few years. Now there are about 150 volunteers who staff Dream Machines Show.

Janie Bono-James, CADHC executive director, calls the Dream Machines Show “my favorite time of year!” She said she is gratified to see all the volunteers working for the good of the community. Along with creating and developing the show, she also applauds Senz for enlisting the wonderful volunteer crew.

Senz has many wonderful memories from the past 25 years. “The thing I’ve truly enjoyed most over the years has been watching and listening to parents and grand-parents share and talk about their experiences with the machines with their children and grandchildren,” he says. “That’s the best part.”

Sick. Insane. Awesome. The sickest, most insanely awesome show ever. No super-lative goes too far when it comes to the back-flipping, high-flying, self-immolat-ing daredevils of RockStar/Metal Mulisha freestyle motocross team.

And they’re back in a big way, guaranteed to spike your adrenaline like an IV drip of

pure caffeine at the 25th annual Pacific Coast Dream Machines Show, Sunday, April 26 at Half Moon Bay Airport. For the uninitiated, freestyle motocross, aka FMX, is like Olympic freestyle snowboarding. Except there are wheels. And a gas-powered engine. And sometimes the rider is on fire. On purpose.

“Oh yeah,” laughs Lloyd Massey, Executive Direc-

tor of WGAS Motorsports. “Monster air, back flips, fire…doesn’t everybody’s job include stuff like that?”

Leading the charge at Dream Machines is Jimmy

“Fitz” Fitzpatrick, a 20-something phenom known the world over, and a true rock star of the X Games. He’d like you to believe he’s beyond tough. He lists hunting, fishing, and bar fights among his hobbies. But once upon a time, little Jimmy was far more refined. In fact, he was a high diver. Diving? You mean, instead of scarred motorcycle leathers, he wore…a Speedo?

Indeed, Fitz was a diver. So good, in fact, he became a Junior Olympian. Until his

family moved to a vineyard in Temecula, where he built a few dirt bike jumps in the back yard. And heard the wild call of FMX.

The expertise learned at a diving board — concentration, courage, and gymnastics

— carried over seamlessly to the world of FMX. It is those skills, combined with a love of the adrenaline rush, which have catapulted him to the heights of his profession.

“One nice thing to note about Fitz is that, even though he is now world-famous

in this sport, he’s retained his humility,” notes Massey of WGAS. “John Borba, who founded WGAS 40 years ago, gave Fitz his first professional event. Fitz has never forgotten that. To this day, when John wants him for an event, he’s there. He is truly one of those guys who remembers where he came from.”

Nice work if you can get it. But Massey stresses that it’s not all fun and games. “You

have to remember that every time they ride, they put their lives on the line. One small mistake can mean bruises, maybe some blood, even broken bones. One big mistake can mean something far worse. So they dedicate themselves constantly to their fitness and riding skills.”

He cites Derek Garland as a good example. “When he isn’t riding, the guy is

constantly climbing mountains, cycling a million miles, competing in an Ironman triathlon, just always doing something to hone his fitness.” Also performing at Dream Machines will be world-class riders Julian Dusseau and Jesse Jolson.

What does it take to make it into the monster air of FMX like these four young

men? John Borba said it best: “You need the memory of an elephant, the body control and athletic prowess of an Olympic gymnast, and the stone of a professional bull rider.”

In other words, don’t miss this event. Don’t even think about it. It’s going to be

totally sick.

320-minute FMX

stunt shows will be held at 11:30 a.m.,1:30 p.m.

and 3:30 p.m.

Modesto’s John Ward is the proud owner and pilot of “Old Glory," a beauti-fully polished, natural finish B-25 Mitchell Bomber that will be a showstop-per at the 25th annual Pacific Coast Dream Machines Show. “Old Glory” is

similar to the planes used in the famed Doolittle Raid of World War II.

Ward’s incredible B-25 has had a long career over its lifetime, ranging from Army Air Force bomber in WWII in the Mediterranean, to civilian fire bomber and tanker, to suffering a forced landing and being placed in storage, to another complete restora-tion, and finally to back in the air in its current military configuration. In 1995, the plane went through an 18,000 restoration. Ward has a deep connection to warbirds. His father flew as a gunner/engineer in the Aleutians in PBY's, one of the most widely used seaplanes in World War II.

The North American B-25 Mitchell was an American twin-engined medium bomber manufactured by North American Aviation. It was used by many Allied air forces, in every theater of World War II, as well as many other air forces after the war ended, and saw service across four decades.

The B-25 was named in honor of General Billy Mitchell, a pioneer of U.S. military aviation. By the end of its production, nearly 10,000 B-25s in numerous models had been built. These included a few limited variations, such as the United States Navy's and Marine Corps' PBJ-1 patrol bomber and the United States Army Air Forces' F-10 photo reconnaissance aircraft.

William Hill, better known as Wild Bill Hill is a world famous car collec-tor and tattoo artist — yes, a tattoo artist with a complete bodysuit of his own mostly done by the legendary artist Ed Hardy. Will Bill and his

girlfriend Roxanne will be showing their rare '66 Shovel-Head at this year’s Pacific Coast Dream Machines Show. "This is 20th year and by far my favorite car show. If you plan to go to only one car show this year, this is the one to go to! No telling what you will see there and Half Moon Bay is just beautiful this time of year."

This 1966 H-D Shovel-Head

Race Bike Hauler has been owned by Wild Bill of Roseville since 1974. The bike, built and maintained by Cork’s Cycle, is fully loaded: 1,200 cc 74 ci Engine + 4 speed tranny. It is used on the infield of the Speedway and Mile Race Tracks for fast and safe retrieval of bikes that go down in the far corners.

Old E. Metal Works built the sidecar from Bill’s drawings. The ramps are only four inches off the ground for easy loading. It has a small removable ramp that is attached with wing nuts that can be used for the heavier bikes. The long rail is ad-justable so when carrying a larger bike it can be moved backwards to balance and distribute the weight. The inside rail area would get a lot of abuse so he sprayed bed liner on it. An ammo box has a false bottom to hide the stock sidecar mounts so a sidecar body could be mounted. Toggles on the box operate loading lights, extra head lights and flashers. Ratchets and hooks are attached on the frame for fast loading and quick tie down. The Speedway bike on the Bike Hauler is out of Larry Hedden’s collection an early 1980s Weslake, with a 60+ horse power single cylinder four stroke.

For 40 years, Wild Bill’s Tattoo shop has been in downtown Roseville with a

staff of 10 male and female artists. Every February, the artists at Wild Bills have a “Tattoo-A-Thon” benefiting the UC Davis Children's Hospital. Over 25 volunteer tattoo artists contribute their entire wages for the day, including tips ($18,000) to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. To date they have raised over $184,000. “The hospital named part of the new wing after the Tattoo Shop. What an honor.” The next Tattoo-A-Thon is Saturday Feb. 20 2016.

Wild Bill started collecting cars about 35 years ago with a Model-T and now has a garage full of specialty cars including a 1915 Ford Speedster (with a match-ing miniature go-cart), 1964 Amphicar, 1932 Ford Phaeton (+ mini go-cart), 1954 Porsche Spyder, 1959 Messerschmitt 3-wheel Micro Car, 1959 Nash Metropoli-tan (with a 15’ flame thrower), 1966 shortened flame throwing VW Bus (+ mini go-cart), 1999 Chevy flat-bed car hauler, 2002 Panoz AIV Roadster, 2005 Panoz Esperante, 2015 Lincoln MKX, 1981 Freeway 3-wheel Micro Car, the 1966 H-D + Sidecar, a 2/3 size Bobber M/C and 3 mini-bikes.

To check out his amazing collection, visit Wild-Bills.com and click on Bill’s garage.

Whether it’s a vintage airplane, a drag racer, a hydroplane or an antique steam engine, the Pacific Coast Dream Machines Show has always been about horse power. This year, horse power—the kind on four legs—will

be an integral part of one exhibit, provided by the California Historic Artillery Society www.warhorse.org/index.html

“Almost all our historic vehicles and equipment were originally moved by

horses,” says Dee Murphy, a CHAS volunteer. The California Historic Artillery Society, based in Salinas, is a non-profit, educational organization whose mis-sion is to preserve and exhibit artillery from the 1840s to 1918. CHAS is the only mounted artillery unit west of the Mississippi.

The unit participates in parades, historic celebrations, and serves as a major

player in Civil War Days, an annual educational event in Duncans Mills, CA. Mur-phy, who refers to re-enactments as living pieces of history, believes such events are critical to understanding war—and why we should find paths to peace. “If any-thing, re-enactments show how horrific war is, how much sacrifice is involved.”

Although they are leaving the horses at home for Dream Machines, the CHAS

cannon and ambulance on show this year are horse drawn. As was the case during the Civil War, each vehicle requires teams of horses, numbering between four to six Standardbreds.

“Our horses are all harness racers who retired from their racing careers and

now have new lives as part of our unit,” Murphy says. The same horses prized by mounted police units and carriage drivers alike, Murphy adds, “They are so calm, level-headed, and, well, you can literally shoot off a cannon and they could care less.”

That’s good news, because artillery cannons, also known as ordinance rifles,

can pack quite a punch. The three-inch ordinance rifle was much loved by Civil War soldiers on all sides for its reliability (it didn’t blow up on itself, as did some rifles), and for its accuracy.

The rifle tube itself is only 73 inches long, yet it weighs 815 pounds. It has a

range of 1835 yards. To put that into perspective, that’s the slightly more than the length of 18 football fields.

During Civil War Days, a team of horses is used to move CHAs ordinance rifles

from one location to another. When it comes to horse power, CHAS really under-stands.

The Sheriff ’s Office will be represent-ed by its Office of Emergency Services and its community relations groups at a large display.

New “dream machines” from the Sheriff ’s Office being featured are the Mobile SWAT Command Vehicle, Support Four Vehicle, Public Outreach trailer. Also returning by popular demand are the SWAT Bearcat, OES public information and recruitment, and North Fair Oaks Festival/ Queen of the Festival.

Support Four is the newest vehicle in the OES fleet and is used by the on-call OES district coordinator to respond to incidents throughout the county. Since it was placed into service last October, it has already responded to hazardous material and major fire calls, and was instrumental during the storms last December. It is equipped to be a complete mobile office in the field and has the ability to manage the initial stages of setting up an evacuation center.

The OES public outreach trailer is a new concept in bringing preparedness informa-tion to the community. It can be set up at any event and is stocked with literature and information of how the community can be better prepared for disasters that may strike the county. It has a secondary function as a check-in station or staging area office in the event of a major disaster.

The OES Mobile SWAT Command Vehicle includes, radio and internet communi-cations, smart board, PTZ (pan/tilt/zoom) infrared camera and planning equipment for setting up a command post for tactical situations.

The Sheriff ’s Office of San Mateo County serves the coastal communities of the county from the Santa Cruz County line up until Pacifica and is the contract police office of Half Moon Bay.

The North Fair Oaks Community Festival is a community event on August 16, 2015 sponsored by the Sheriff ’s Office and is a fund raiser for countywide Sheriff ’s Youth Programs. The Queen of the Festival scholarship program awards $23,000 annually to university-bound high school seniors. For more information go to www.northfai-roaksfestival.org

The Sheriff ’s Office Emergency Services Bureau is comprised of sworn specialized units and volunteer forces to respond to emergency law enforcement activities, search and rescue missions, evidence searches and requests for mutual aid.

Beyond the magnificent machines that will mesmerize adults and kids alike, there are plenty of other amusements for youngsters at the Pacific Coast Dream Machines Show.

The excitement starts with our awesome zip-line! Zip-liners are safety har-nessed, then climb a spiral staircase up to the crow’s nest 28 feet in the air. They are then attached to the zipline by our trained team via a redundant safety pulley and pre-pared for launch. Two at a time can zip side by side so not only will they enjoy the ride but also shriek in unison while in flight. Flying through the air reaching over 20 mph they approach the specially designed power pack decelerator and come to a gradual stop. The smiles, laughter, and squeals say it all … it’s the thrill of a lifetime!

Zorbs — AKA Human Hamster Balls — are all the rage! It’s simple: you get inside of a air cushioned sphere and run around a dual-lane 75-foot criss-cross race track until you just just can’t go any longer. Zorbs will wear you out!

Jump high into the sky, flip around and catch some massive air on Mobile Rock’s incredibly fun Quad Bungee; up to four people can be jumping at one time. Flips are fun and easy to do. Heights of 20' above the ground can be reached. Parents get a real kick out of watching their kids have a blast. Try out our extreme air bouncing equipment to practice stunts or simply for fun exercise.

For a real scream, you gotta try Waterballerz! Participants climb into a giant, clear inflatable ball which is filled with fresh air. The the ball is zipped up, which com-pletely seals it, and they enter an inflatable pool that is 24 by 24 feet and literally walk (and roll) on water. Run, jump, bounce, walk inside the balls on water. As many as six balls can be in the pool at one time. This exciting new attraction is always a hit!

Experience the thrills, chills and excitement of real NASCAR racing on Pit Stop Mobile Racing’s micro-reality, remote-controlled track. Imagine racing your favorite NASCAR driver on a banked oval speedway at speeds over 200 mph! You’re in complete control as you head into the banked curve, your left hand gripping the full size steering wheel, your right hand the shifter. It’s as though you’re driving –– spectacular crashes, high-speed spinouts, the bumping of real racing and non-stop action that makes micro-reality, remote-controlled racing the ultimate interactive experience.

Kids and adults alike will enjoy Mobile Rock’s challenging 24-foot Climbing Wall where trained climbing technicians will be available to show you the ropes. The wall is color coded to assist climbers, from the youngest to the most advanced, make it to the to the top.

From the sweetest of looks to more daring designs, "It's Fun Face Painting" brings an extra sparkle to the event! Face painting and body art with bright colors glitter and imagination, fun henna designs, glitter tattoos and hair bling are among their unique wearable art offerings. Get your dazzle on with looks ranging from rainbow princesses, zombies, and fairy faces to dramatic tigers and superheroes for the day. Want something that lasts a little longer? Enhance your tresses with colorful hair feathers that will stay the course or a non-traditional festival henna tattoo design (made with fresh premium organic brown henna) that will keep the fun going all week.

Cali Caricature is the Bay Area’s best caricature illustrator, based on the sunny Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. With amazing skill and good humor, this talented band of artists excels at quickly rendering guests with one-of-a-kind, keepsake caricature art.

Party Animals are the most incredibly expressive puppets on the planet! You can animate them to sit , scratch, walk and dance just like a real animal! And if you like to dance to music, your Party Animal can dance as well as you can! You will be amazed at the effect these comical critters have on people of all ages.

With a uniquely beautiful backdrop of the world’s coolest motoring ma-chines, some of the biggest names on the Bay Area music scene are head-ing down to Half Moon Bay Airport for the 25th annual Pacific Coast

Dream Machines Show on Sunday, April 26.

The Andy Santana Band, Wavelength: A Tribute to Van Morrison, and The Ray Charles Project make up the sensational lineup that will take the stage for what promises to be a very special day of music.

Kicking things off is The Andy Santana Band. The gifted Santana is a dynamic vocalist and world class harmon-ica player as well as a proficient guitarist and song writer. With decades of profes-sional experience and shows on his resume, he has legions of fans and consistently delivers memorable live performances. Andy heads a group of talented musicians that includes the incredible Rusty Zinn on guitar. Zinn’s guitar playing and singing with deep feeling for the blues have earned him gigs and recordings over the years with many blues masters, including Jimmy Rogers, Snooky Pryor, Luther Tucker, James Cotton, Mark Hummel and Kim Wilson.

Belfast's Kevin Brennan fronts his popular band Wavelength in a tribute to an old Belfast Buddy, Van Morrison. Wavelength is comprised of very talented musi-cians whose craft is fine tuned to the rich and wide spectrum of Van’s music. From early days of Brown Eyed Girl through Beautiful Vision to Haunts of Ancient Peace, Wavelength captures Mr. Morrison's sound “Vantastically.” The top notch line up includes Grant Walters on harps/vocals, Gary McArthur on sax/flute, Rob Christian on bass, Pelham Houchin on lead guitar, Erik Nielsen on drums, and some very special guests.

In tribute to the genius of Ray Charles, a swinging sextet of outstanding Bay Area musicians formed The Ray Charles Project to offer their take on some of the highlights from Ray’s amazing songbook. The band is a meeting of elite jazz and blues musicians including 11-time GRAMMY® Award winner and Santana vocal-ist Tony Lindsay, noted Bay Area guitarist Chris Cain and soulful vocalist Glenn Walters. A talent-packed rhythm section will back them, including Hammond B-3 player Dave Mathews, bassist DeWayne Pate and drummer Deszon Claiborne.

We’ve put together a great music lineup that will rival the quality of the world-class machines on display,” said entertainment director Grant Walters, a longtime supporter of the event beneficiary, the Coastside Adult Day Health Center.

In keeping with a long-standing Dream Machines tradition, festivalgoers can expect to see special surprise guests take the stage thoughout the day.
