• Jay Cooke Headquarters to the south side of Jay Cooke, across the St. Louis River

• Allows issuance of permits

• Collection of campground fees

• 10-20 sites

• 2 sites to accommodate group camping

• 2 latrines

• Water Source

• Picnic Tables

• Fire Rings

Day Parking

• 10 acres

• Good road access to the area

• Space to accommodate large horse trailers with parking space

• Circular drives work well with pull through campsites

• Soil needs to be well drained, sandy soil is adequate

Campsite Horse Accommodation

• Tie lines to accommodate a 2 horse minimum

• Tie lines should:– consist of two timbers with a cable connecting

the timbers

– Have a draining type ground underneath

• Single high tie post

• Corral pens could be used an alternate to the tie lines. Pens would need to be large enough to accommodate 2-3 horses per site

Manure Pits

• 2 Manure pits

• A wheelbarrow at each pit

• Pits should:

– Have three sides

– Be sturdy enough to accommodate a bob cat for manure removal

Trails

• Willard Munger Trail to connect to:

– The Triangle

– Oak Trial

• Connect to south side of St. Louis River

– Cross over the river on the Willard Munger Bridge

– Drop south and cross Otter Creek

• 10 additional miles needed on south side of park

Management

• Campground Host Volunteer Program

– “live in host”

– Assist campers by answering question

– Perform light maintenance
