Used to remind motorists that bicyclists are permitted to use the full lane. Santa Barbara community has requested green-backing on sharrows.Bicycle Boulevard: Bicycle boulevards are streets with low motorized trafc volumes and speeds, and are designed to give bicyclists safe travel options and allow full automobile access to residents. Bicycle Boulevards may use signs, pavement markings, and intersection treatments to discourage through trips by motor vehicles and create safe, convenient bicycle crossings of busy arterial streets.Bike Lane: Also referred to as Class II lanes, these are an exclusive space for bicyclists provided through the use of pavement markings and signage. Santa Barbara community has requested green painted Class II lanes.Buffered Bike Lane: Conventional Class II bicycle lanes paired with a buffered space or soft barrier separating the bicycle lane from adjacent motor vehicular travel lane and/or parking lane.Couplet Bike Lane:A pair of one-way streets that provide through-movements in opposite directions, preserve on street parking, simplify intersection movements, and increase vehicular carrying capacity of both streets.Green Bike Lane: Green painted surface within a bicycle lane that increases the visibility of the facility, identies potential areas of conict, and reinforces priority to bicyclists in conict areas.Bike Path: Class I bicycle lane that provides a completely separated right of way for the exclusive use of bicycles and pedestrians with crossow by motorists minimized.Glossary of Terms: Santa Barbara Bicycle Master Plan (SB BMP)July 2015
