DESCRIPTION

Here is a short presentation on a few recent case I have completed utilizing Atlantis dental implant abutments. Utilizing the unique Atlantis VAD™ (Virtual Abutment Design) software, the CAD/CAM patient-specific abutments are individually designed from the final tooth shape for outstanding function and esthetics.

Atlantis™– the freedom of unlimited possibilities

Utilizing the unique Atlantis VAD™ (Virtual Abutment Design) software, the CAD/CAM patient-specific abutments are individually designed from the final tooth shape for outstanding function and esthetics.

Achieving ideal esthetics and function with Atlantis™ patient-specific abutments

Page 4: Dr. Todd Welch

• Atlantis abutments are milled abutments (no human hand touches them)

• Custom cast abutments are modified, waxed, and casted by a lab technician – costs extra fees for labor and material.

What’s the Difference between Atlantis and a Custom Cast?

Stock Vs. Atlantis Abutment

• Full anatomical dimensions;

– Largest diameter abutment provided with best emergence profile possible

Page 7: Dr. Todd Welch

• Contour soft tissue;– medium diameter

anatomically shaped abutment up to 1.0 mm larger than sulcus of model of soft tissue provided

• Support tissue;– anatomically shaped

abutment will be up to 0.2 mm larger than sulcus of silicone model of soft tissue provided with desired emergence profile

– “Easy” insertion

Support tissue

• No tissue displacement;

– Smallest diameter, non-anatomically shaped abutment with no soft tissue support

– The abutment will not touch the soft tissue

No tissue displacement

Case 1

This is what an implant abutment should look like. As you can see, the margins and angle of insertion is ideal, and the inter-occlusal distance is perfect for any restoration. This can only be achieved using Atlantis Abutments.

Case 2

I extracted tooth #7 and placed an immediate dental implant.

Page 13: Dr. Todd Welch

I will take care of temporization for implants in the anterior.

Page 14: Dr. Todd Welch

I take an implant/fixture level impression following implant integration (typically 8 weeks), an opposing impression and a bite registration.

The case is then sent to the Atlantis Laboratory in Boston.

The lab then fabricates the Atlantis Abutment and lab fabricated temporary crown.

Page 15: Dr. Todd Welch

The case returns with the Atlantis Abutment, in this case a Zirconia (White Metal) Atlantis Abutment, and temporary crown.

Zirconia abutments can be fabricated in 4 shades to give you the best translucency, which enhances the esthetics on anterior cases.

Page 16: Dr. Todd Welch

I deliver the case and torque the abutment to Astra Tech and Atlantis’ recommendations of 25 Ncm.

As you can see, the margins in this case were set at the gingival margin. Therefore, standard crown and bridge techniques can be used.

Margins can be designed however you like at an ideal level for safe and easy cement removal.

Page 17: Dr. Todd Welch

The case returns to your office with the abutment torqued and the temporary crown on the abutment. All you need to do is remove the temporary crown and take a standard crown and bridge impression.

This is a case that we all see on a daily basis. As you can see, #7 space is as large as #’s 8 and 9. The patient refused veneers on #’s 6- 11, so this is the best that can be done in these cases.

Case 3

Atlantis is perfect for implant supported bridges. The angulation, parallelism, inter-occlusal distance and margins

are set for you.

Page 19: Dr. Todd Welch

The case returns to your office with the abutments torqued and the temporary bridge in place.

That is a temporary bridge on the right.

They do a great job with the temporary crowns and bridges.

Case 4

I extracted tooth #9 and placed an immediate implant.

Atlantis Abutments In Summary

Standard Crown and Bridge Techniques for final fixed prosthesis.

Perfect parallelism and inter-occlusal space. No need to adjust the abutment.

Margins can be set by you to your personal preferences.

Case comes back to your office with a lab fabricated temporary crown.

I don’t charge extra for Atlantis Abutments. I place Astra Tech implants which have 27 years of history and research. It is what I would want placed in my mouth.

Atlantis Abutments In Summary

Decreased chair time for you and your staff.

Implants can be placed up to 30 degrees off angle which decreases the need for bone grafting.

Atlantis abutments cannot be used on “knock-off” implants, i.e., Blue Sky Bio and Implant Direct. (Knowing the quality of implant the dentist placing your implants is extremely important)

Atlantis will only fabricate abutments on quality implants.

Conclusion Thank you so much for your support of me and my

practice. I am grateful for your support.

If you would like more information on Atlantis Abutments or laser periodontal therapy, please call me anytime.

I am always available to take your call.

If you would like to try try an Atlantis Abutment on your next implant case, please let me know, so I will take the proper steps to have the Atlantis Abutment fabricated.

I do place standard “snap cap” abutments on single implants, mostly premolars, but if you request Atlantis, then that is what I will do for you.
