Week 7, Term 4, 2015 From the Principal’s Chair: Kia ora tena koutou katoa We are currently practising our items for the End of Year Concert on 14
th December at
5.30pm. Please note this date. We would love to see you there. This will be held in the Activity room. The evening will run as follows: Welcome, Sing National Anthem, Kapa Haka performance, Play by the children, Principal and Chairpersons speeches, Piano re-citals, Prize giving and presentations, Christmas carols and Santa :) You are welcome to bring a picnic tea and BYO drink. The students all participated well and did their very best at the athletics. Finn and Rei-hana represented our school at the inter-schools Athletics on Wednesday and although they were unplaced, they did themselves proud. I was treated to a surprise last Friday when the students arrived singing Happy Birthday to me. Ange had kindly baked a lovely chocolate cake which meant we had to have an early morning tea! The students had secretly each made birthday cards with Sissy which I was presented. Thanks team, I had a great day. We visited the Masterton Fire Station to conclude our People that help us unit for the term. This was a very informative session and well organised. Thank you to Tineke, Kerstin and Tina for taking vehicles. Remember to check that you have working smoke alarms in your homes. We had lunch at the park followed by a training swimming session for the older students at the indoor pools and a free swim. The weather was perfect on the day. The school pool is well utilised and the students swim daily. We have seen great pro-gress in a short time. End of year reports have been written and these will be sent home with the students at the end of Week 8 along with Learning Profiles. Next year, the students will begin new profiles so these may be kept at home. Have a great couple of weeks until our last newsletter for 2015 which is due out in Week 9.

School Values - V = Value
The students are working through the school values and to them V means being
Strong and Bright, lively and enthusiastic. Always busy and willing to learn.
New things.. The McCathy Trust donated $500.00 to the
school to be used in the library. This allowed
us to purchase some modern seating which
has proved popular with the students.
The blinds have been installed in the class-
room to reduce the glare from the sun, and
they have made a very positive difference.
We were able to purchase these blinds by
using the $1000.00 donation from White Rock
Station we received in Term 2 and the money
raised from the MX5 luncheon in Term 3. A
huge Thank you to all those who were
involved.
Happy Birthday Miss Mahoney Ms Mahoney celebrated a birthday last weekend and she got a lovely surprise on the Friday morning. The cake was yummy and the cards the children made were very special.

Piano Performance
We were fortunate to have Vanessa Bohlinger come and play for the school last week. Vanessa lives near Frankfurt in Germany. She’s here in NZ for 1 to 5 years if she can study psychology next year at Victoria. She had been staying with Russell and Kerstin but has now moved on and Kerstin says she misses her playing already. Thank you to Jocelyn for organising this and thank you to Russell for bring-ingher down to the school she we could perform for us. Her performance was amazing and we wish her well with her travels.
Skip Bin The bin is slowly filling up, so during the summer months don’t forget its there for you to dispose of an metal rubbish. Please remember to remove any wooden batons on fence wire and if disposing of a fridge, please empty it!
