He’sthoughtful and funny with it, mixing humour with humility, compassion and common sense. He talks about the people he hasknown with affection and about himself with a delicious sense of theridiculous. He can spot when his dog is having an existential crisis andknows that the best cure for insomnia is a straight-from-the-tinbaked bean feast. “My aim”, Lionel says, “is to give people the courageto get out of bed”.

Bishop's Stortford’s rich history can be traced back to Saxontimes and is called Estereford in the 1086 Domesday Book. The town and the River Stort are named after an importantSaxon family known as Steorta and, along with its’ castle wassold to the Bishops of London in 1060, and was seized byKing John in the early 13th century.
