Aanii,
I am very excited to be back in the Post Second-
ary Counselling Unit. It has been a busy couple of
months since my return catching up with the
continuing students and getting to know all the
new students.
The PSCU team has been working diligently to
develop new orientation activates and to in-
crease community awareness. We are currently
delivering Lunch & Learn sessions with the
Wasse Abin High School and have 2 community
orientation sessions scheduled in May and July.
The Post Secondary Counselling Unit will have a
information booth and be delivering a workshop
at the high school career fair on March 4th. PSCU
has a Facebook page with sponsorship reminders,
scholarship and bursary notifications, and other
information related to post secondary studies, so
please like us on FB! Additionally the Wik-
wemikong Board of Education website
(including the PSCU page) is currently being
updated with a new launch date scheduled
for March 26th.
We have also begun our fundraising initia-
tives for the upcoming 34th Annual Gradua-
tion and Awards Ceremony. All fundrais-
ing efforts go directly to students in the form
of bursaries. If you would like to help out or
join the graduation committee , please con-
tact our office.
If you are a continuing student please re-
member to submit your application before
the deadline. If you will be graduating this
year please notify our office so we can
acknowledge your success. Lastly, good luck
on your exams. We are very proud of your
post secondary achievements!

Aanii/Hello Students! I hope your
Winter semester is going well and
that you are enjoying the courses
in your program. As we head into
the final half of the semester, it is
time to start thinking about sub-
mitting your funding application
for the next school year. As you
know, our deadline date is June
1st at 4pm EST. Be mindful that
there have been some changes to
our policy. Please ensure that
you read it over and highlight any
information that applies to you. If
you have questions you can con-
tact us at the PSCU and we’ll do
our best to clarify any information.
I would like to ask the college stu-
dents to please submit your mid-
term grades by March 13th. This is
a reminder as I have emailed you
all already. If you do not receive
midterm grades, please let me
know. If I do not hear from you at
all, allowances will be held on
March 27th for the month of APRIL.
So please submit your grades as
soon as they are ready to avoid
delay in deposit of your allowance.
That being said, I wish you contin-
ued success in your current semes-
ter and please do not hesitate to
contact us if you have any ques-
tions or concerns at all. Keep fo-
cused, work hard, but also make
sure you have some down time as
well. Time is flying by and Spring is
just around the corner! Wishing
you all the best and looking forward
to hearing from you soon!

The basic Canada Education

will top up your annual contribution by
20%, up to a maximum of $500 each
year for each beneficiary. The lifetime
limit for the grant is generally $7,200.
Additional CESG grants may be availa-

group plan dealers are RESP providers.
The federal government will match contribu-

because they offer tax benefits and allow you
to take advantage of federal government
grants. There are different kinds of RESPs to
choose from, so it’s wise to shop around to
