XXXV No. 16

The Hardy
Heartline Dear Church family and friends,
We are approaching a very special day at Hardy.
On September 12th, we will celebrate our first year in
our new facility! On that Sunday we will dedicate our church cornerstone in a ceremony following a fel-
lowship meal. Then everyone is asked to celebrate with the youth as we dedicate our brand new Martha
Miller Youth building. It will be a special place for all our youth as well as Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.
The new facility will be dedicated to the glory of God, who has called us by His grace, to the honor of Je-
sus Christ, who loved us and gave Himself for us, to the praise of the Holy Spirit, who illumines and sanc-
tifies us. This facility will provide a place for teaching and guiding the young, and a place for them to
grow strong in the grace of Jesus Christ. The youth building was made possible because of the love and
generosity of Martha Miller. Martha has a vision for the youth, a vision that has become a reality. This
youth facility is named in her honor. We give God praise for the way He moved in the heart of Martha to
fund this endeavor. Many young lives will be blessed both now and in the future because of Martha's
generosity
In the love of Christ,
Rev. Garry Masterson
FROM MICAH
―I will praise You, O Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all Your wonders. I will be glad
and rejoice in You.; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High.‖ Psalm 9:1-2
Throughout the scripture we are called to praise our God. We are called to praise Him in many ways, with dancing,
with instruments, with all that we are, and especially with singing. Singing is such a beautiful way to express what
we are feeling inside in a way that mere words cannot fully capture. Why we sing and what we sing are so impor-
tant to our spiritual development. Since God desires to hear our voices lifted in praise to Him, we should oblige.
Let us sing loudly to our God and praise His name!
While many of us will sing robustly on Sundays and during the week in praise to God, sadly many of us never con-
sider what we are actually singing. When was the last time you read the words to a hymn and meditated on its true
meaning? Many of the hymns we sing are now sung almost automatically because we have sung them so many
times over the years. We do a disservice to our Lord Jesus and to the hymn writers when we dismiss the words
and just sing a melody line without ever considering what the words we sing actually mean.
So, I want to encourage you to change two habits: First, sing out loud and strong and joyfully to God no matter
what style of music is being sung; and Second, think about what you are singing and let it seep into your heart.
You’ll be glad you did, and so will our gracious Father.
We’re the church
with a warm heart

only request is that you let the church office know if you can’t make a particular Wednesday night. Make
your plans to join us!

people we already have in choir…and they are waiting for YOU to join them! Choir starts at 7:00 on Wednes-
day nights…so come join us!
* If you are interested in being a part of the worship ministries here at Hardy, please let the office or Micah
know. We would love to see dance, drama, puppets, kids, teens, and all sorts of things added to our wor-
ship times but we need help to do it! We need you!
MISSION MOMENT As part of our outreach here at Hardy, our congregation collects supplies for the Child Protective Ser-
vice’s RAINBOW ROOM. These items help the CPS caseworkers meet the critical needs of abused
and neglected children in our town. Collection bins are located at each of the side entrances by the
balcony staircase.
For the rest of August, and early September please help us collect school supplies for the children.
For the months of September and October, we want to help ―Share the Warmth‖ by collecting clothing and acces-
sories for cooler weather. This would include gloves, socks, windbreakers, underwear, sweaters, etc.
SAGER-BROWN MISSION TRIP Hardy has reserved four spots at UMCOR Sager-Brown for December 5 – 10, 2010. This is a wonderful mission
opportunity for any adult to work in the UMCOR warehouse preparing relief supplies for distribution around the
world. There is also opportunity for outreach in the Baldwin community. If you are interested, a deposit of $20 will
reserve your spot. The balance of $185 will be due one-half on October 1 and the remainder paid by December 5.
Lodging and most meals are included in the cost. Please prayerfully consider giving of your time to help those less
fortunate and you will indeed receive a blessing in return. There will also be a trip to Sager-Brown in May, 2011,
with exact dates to be determined later. Deposits of $20 can reserve your spot on this trip.
UMCOR School Bags for the Needy Hardy’s Mission Committee is in search of seamstresses who would like to make school bags for UMCOR Sager-
Brown. These bags will be filled with school supplies and distributed to needy areas overseas. Whether you can
sew or not, there is a job for you. Contact Joyce Bell, Carolyn Fant or the church office if you are interested in this
opportunity to serve.
HARDY HEROES CALLED TO THE FRONT LINES! We are accustomed to waiting for things. We wait in checkout lines at stores. We wait for the next available repre-
sentative to assist our phone call. Our anxiety and frustrations with these situations does not compare to that of
those who are waiting for a much needed blood product. Almost 60 percent of the population is eligible to donate
blood; only 5 percent actually do. It is up to donors to make sure that those needed products are always available
to hospital patients in need. Will you save three lives on September 26th? It could be your own life you are saving.
Blood Drive +++ September 26th +++ 8:30am – 1:00pm +++ Goal 25+ units saving up to 75 lives!!!!

help raise money for the playground. If you would like to purchase some
bread, please see someone from the Faith Seekers Class. We are also still tak-

please memo it to the playground. Each time we raise $2,000.00 we will dis-
play a piece of the puzzle. Please be in prayer as we begin to reach out to the
children in the community. Our children are the future!
