If you walk through our streets, you will feel the scent of good food that can reverse the mood of the moment and cheer up any sad person!
That scent was very well known to our grandmothers, great grandmothers as well as it is to us today. The link with the past is the most lively and profound through the food. Food determines the life of every individual in the most memorable way.

This school year, pupils are
learning about healthy and varied
diet, so, together with their teacher
they decided to collect recipes for
healthy food and dishes that are
traditionally cooked in this region.
They tried to prepare some dishes
with the help and assistance of
their mothers and grandmothers.

The big chefs and the little chefs
Very pleased grandmothers told us that
this was a great start. Lunch is still the
main meal that brings together the whole
family, and is based on local vegetables,
fish and seafood, Mediterranean spices
and olive oil.

Octopus as a star of the day
Veronica's dad caught a fresh octopus while diving
in the sea. It is not easy to clean the octopus.
Where are its teeth?

Too many cooks spoil the broth – or do they?
Normally, it takes about an hour to roast the
octopus but our oven malfunctioned and it
only slightly warmed it. Nevertheless, the
grannies improvised and fried the octopus in
a pan so that children wouldn’t go hungry.
![Page 17: Traditional dishes](https://reader033.vdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022042715/559a5bc81a28ab204a8b4850/html5/thumbnails/17.jpg)
The children were taught an important lesson – „if life deals you
lemons, make lemonade..” They ate their lunch and, of course, drunk
their lemonade with pleasure.

After lunch, the pupils set up a play called
Fruit talk

In the end
The children washed the dishes and
cleaned the kitchen.
They have learned to cherish and
preserve for the next generation the
traditional values they inherited from their
grandmothers and grandfathers.
Everyone enjoyed learning without pen
and paper and looks forward to our next
gathering in the kitchen.

And now just a couple of recipes for the dessert.
Enjoy!
