Stone High School was originally constructed in 1969, and received an addition and
renovation in 1998. Interior finishes are in fair condition, and floors show wear from
high-intensity use. VCT floors in the addition may have had installation issues, and show
an inordinate amount of wear. Over half of the classrooms have no access to natural light.
The technological infrastructure in most areas is insufficient. Level changes throughout
corridors create accessibility issues. The spatial layout makes wayfinding difficult and
limits access to natural light. Exterior cladding is in good condition. Mechanical systems
are in fair condition, and a back-flow preventer is needed. Electrical systems are in
good condition, but the emergency generator requires maintenance. Site entrances are
located along a heavily trafficked road, and congestion may pose a problem. Exterior
lighting is insufficient and the football field is not easily accessed by pedestrians.
