1.1 PREREQUSIITES:
1.1.1 HoldcurrentfullmembershipwithACPEWAInc.1.1.2 Havesuccessfullycompletedatleastone400-hourunitofCPEwithanaccreditedCPE
Supervisor,inaclinicalsetting.Thisunitistohavebeencompletedwithinthreeyearsofapplication.Iftheunitwascompletedoutsidethethreeyears,thenthecandidatewillhavebeen:a. Activelyemployedasapastoralcarerandreceivingregularprofessionalsupervisionb. ORbeenactivelyinvolvedinthelifeofACPEWAInc.c. ORrequestingrecognitionofpriorlearningandexperience
1.1.3 ForthoseseekingcertificationofLevelICPEprogrammeLearningOutcomes,thefocusofthewrittenmaterialsubmittedbythecandidateistodemonstratepastoralcompetency,reflectiveabilityonpastoralministryandpastoralidentityformationasarticulatedintheCPELevelILearningObjectivesandLearningOutcomes.
1.2 PROCESSFORREQUESTINGANADHOCCOMMITTEE1.2.1 ThecandidateshallwritetotheSecretaryoftheACPEWARegistration&Certification
Committee(R&C)requestinganAdHocConsultationtoassessthecandidate’sprogressafterparticipationinoneormoreunitsofLevelICPEandrequestcertificationofLevelICPEProgrammeLearningOutcomes.TherequestshouldbereceivedbytheSecretaryACPEWAR&CatleastthreemonthsbeforeexpectingtheAdHocConsultationtobeheld.
AdHocCommitteeswillnormallybeheldinMarchandOctober/November.
CompletionoftheLearningOutcomesmayrequireparticipationinmorethanoneunitofCPEatLevelI

2.1.3 AtleastoneCPEunittohavebeenundertakeninaCPEprogrammewherethecandidate’slearningwasfocussedonLevelIICPELearningObjectives.
2.1.4 ForthoseseekingcertificationofLevelIICPEProgrammeLearningOutcomes,thefocusofthewrittenmaterialsubmittedbythecandidateistodemonstratepastoralcompetency,reflectiveabilityonpastoralministryandpastoralidentityformationasarticulatedintheCPELevelIILearningObjectivesandLearningOutcomesasdescribedabove.ThecandidateisexpectedtohaveacertificateofcompletionofLevelICPEprogrammeLearningOutcomesbeforeapplyingforCertificationatLevelII.
Wherethisismissingorunavailable,thecandidateshouldincludetwoadditionaldocuments:a) Thecandidate’sfinalevaluationfromparticipationinaLevelIaccreditedCPEprogrammeb) Awrittenpastoralencounterreview(verbatim)withevaluationarisingfromthe
candidate’spastoralministry,demonstratingcorelearninginreferencetopastoral,professionalandpersonalinsightsfromhis/herparticipationinaLevelICPEprogramme.
NB.ThepurposeoftheLevelIIAdHocinthiscaseistocertifythecompletionofLevelIorLevelIIoutcomes,notboth.
2.2 PROCESSFORREQUESTINGANADHOCCOMMITTEE
2.2.1 ThecandidateshallwritetotheSecretaryoftheACPEWARegistration&CertificationCommittee(R&C)requestinganAdHocConsultationtoassessthecandidate’sprogressafterparticipationintwoormoreunitsofLevelICPEandLevelIICPEandrequestcertificationofLevelIICPEProgrammeLearningOutcomes.TherequestshouldbereceivedbytheSecretaryACPEWAR&CatleastthreemonthsbeforeexpectingtheAdHocConsultationtobeheld.AdHocCommitteeswillnormallybeheldinMarchandOctober/November.
CandidatesshouldallowsufficienttimeforreflectionfollowingthecompletionofaCPEUnitatLevelII.CompletionoftheLearningOutcomesmayrequireparticipationinmorethanoneunitofCPEatLevelII.
2.2.2 ACPEWAR&CwillappointthreememberstoformanAdHocCommittee.ThisAdHoc
CommitteewillincludeatleastoneaccreditedLevelIorLevelIICPESupervisor,whowillChairtheCommitteeto:a. Considertheclaimsofthepastoralcandidateregardinghis/heridentityasapastoral

2.3.7 AstatementofLearningGoalsforthefuture2.3.8 ArecentCPESupervisor’sreportinresponsetotheCPEunit(s)completed2.3.9 Acasestudywithacriticalevaluationofthecandidate’spastoralministrywithinaparticular
contextorspecialtyoveranextendedperiod,lengthbeingnomorethan3,000words.Inthereport,thecandidateshouldensurethathe/shehasdemonstratedacapacitytoengagewiththeCPELearningObjectivesandOutcomesatLevelII,whichwillincludeademonstrationofthecandidate’suseoftheclinicalmethodoflearning,throughtheinclusionofclinicalmaterial.Theclinicalmaterialshoulddemonstratethecandidate’spracticeofpastoralministryorspecialtyasdescribedintheCPELearningObjectivesatLevelII.
2.3.10 Thecandidateshouldensurethathis/hermaterialaddresseseachoftheLevelIICPEprogrammeLearningOutcomes.
2.4 OTHERREQUIREMENTS
Achequemadeoutto“ACPEWAInc.”fortherequiredfeeshallbeforwardedtotheACPEWASecretaryatleastsevendaysbeforetheAdHocConsultation.

3.0STANDARDSCONCERNEDWITHENTRYTOSUPERVISORYCPE
IntentionalformationasaCPESupervisorthroughSupervisoryCPEformationisintegraltothedisciplineofClinicalPastoralEducationandPastoralSupervision,thefoundationuponwhichsucceedinglevelsofclinicalpastoralsupervisionarebuilt.ThoseseekingentrytoSupervisoryCPEformationwillhavedemonstratedtheiridentityandcompetenceasapastoralcareprofessionalthroughanAdHoccommitteefortheCertificationofLevelIICPEProgrammeoutcomes.BeforeseekinganACPEWAConsultationtoexploreadecisiontoenterSupervisoryCPE,theapplicantshallconsultwithaCPECentreDirectorandTrainingSupervisor(LevelIIandabove)regardingthepossibilityofentrytoSupervisoryCPEatthatCPECentreandbeinreceiptofaletterofsupportforthisintentionfromtheCentreDirector.ThepurposeoftheACPEWAconsultationistoexplorewiththeapplicantreadinesstoenterSupervisoryCPEtraining.ItisaconsultativeprocessthatincludestheTrainingSupervisor,theCPECentreDirector,arepresentativeoftheACPEWAR&CCommitteeandmayincludeafourthpersonfromacognatediscipline(asperStandard3.0.4)whowillmeetwiththeapplicanttoexplore:
a. Theapplicant’slevelofpersonalandspiritualintegrationb. Theapplicant’smotivationtoenterSupervisoryCPEc. Theapplicant’sconceptualcompetence
ItisenvisagedthatuponentrytoSupervisoryCPE,theapplicantwillengagewithfoundationalsupervisorytheoryandformationissuesinpreparationforsupervisingCPEStudents,beforeapplyingtoACPEWAR&CforanAdHocCommitteeforActingLevelISupervisorandpermissiontocommencesupervisingCPEstudents.
3.0.1 PREREQUISITESforentrytoSupervisoryCPE
a. evidenceofbeingingoodstandingforpastoralministrybyarecognisedreligious/Faith/SpiritualCommunity;
b. holdcurrentfullmembershipwithACPEWAInc;c. successfullycompletedatleastone400-hourunitofCPEwithanaccreditedCPE
Supervisor,inaclinicalsettingatLevelIandcompletedafurtherunitofCPEwithanaccreditedCPESupervisorinaclinicalsettingatLevelII.Oneunitistohavebeencompletedwithinthreeyearsofapplication.
d. successfullyreceivedtheACPEWAcertificationforthecompletionofLevelIICPEProgrammeLearningOutcomeswithinthelastfiveyears.Applicantsoutsidethistimeframeshouldincludeanupdateofrecentpastoralexperienceandpastoraleducation.
e. beinreceiptofaletterofsupportforthisintentiontoenterSupervisoryCPEfromaCPECentreDirector
f. providethenamesandaddressesofthreeprofessionalpersonstowhomtheTrainingCPESupervisorwillsendareferralandrecommendationform,outliningthecriteriaforacceptanceintoSupervisoryCPEtrainingwithinACPEWAInc.andaskingfortheirresponsesandrecommendations.
g. TheologicalStudies:completedaB.TheologydegreeorGraduateDiplomainTheology/Ministry;ORhasformulatedaplantoactivelypursuefurthertheological
studiesatatertiarylevel,withthegoalofgainingaBTheol.orassessedequivalency
bythetimeofseekingaccreditationasaLevelICPESupervisorandbeforerequesting
ActingLevelIICPESupervisorstatus.

h. ApplicantsforentrytoSupervisoryCPEfromamajorworldfaithotherthanChristianity,priortoseekingentry,shallactivelypursuetertiarystudiesinthatfaithtradition;ORhavesuccessfullycompletedstudyinthatfaithandpractice,equivalenttotheacademiccreditoffiveunitsofaBachelorofTheology,studiesrecognizedinformandcontentbythepeakbodyofthatfaithtraditioninAustralia;ANDbeactivelypursuingfurtherstudiesinthatfaithtradition;
i. ApplicantsforentrytoSupervisoryCPEwithaBachelordegreeinadisciplineotherthan
theologywillbeconsidered,onthepresentationofevidencethattheyareenrolledorintendtoenrolinatertiarycourseoftheologicalstudiesleadingtoassessedequivalencywithaBTheol.,tobecompletedwithinareasonabletimeframe.
j. ApplicantsholdingaGraduateDiplomainTheology/MinistryoraBachelordegreeina
disciplineotherthantheology,shouldconsiderstudiesinthefollowingareasoftheBachelorofTheologydegreeasrelevanttoSupervisoryCPEformationandCPESupervision.• PastoralTheology• SystematicTheology;Doctrine,SacramentsorMinistry• BiblicalStudiesandExegesis• Ethics• Churchhistory
3.0.2 REQUIREMENTSforentrytoSupervisoryCPE
Inadditiontotheprerequisiterequirementsabove,theapplicantshallprovidethefollowingwrittenmaterialstothemembersofconsultationcommitteetwoweekspriortothemeeting.
a. AcompletedcoversheetaspertheCoverSheettemplateinAppendix6andattachtothefrontofsubmission;
b. Astatementofrequestbytheapplicantforthisconsultation,whichincludesanunderstandingoftheprocess,timelineandestimatedreadinessforanAdHoccommitteewithinthenext12monthstobegrantedActingLevelISupervisorandauthorisationtocommencesupervisingCPEstudents.
c. Anupdatedreflectivestatementwheretheapplicantconsidershis/herpersonal/culturaldevelopment,familyrelationalhistory,educationalandvocationaldevelopment,religiousandspiritualjourneyandthecandidate’sexperienceofCPEwhichincludesanarticulationofhis/herstrengthsandlimitationsasapotentialCPEsupervisorandthecandidate’smotivationforenteringsupervisoryCPE.Acopyofthefindingsandrecommendationsfromthecandidates’presentationtoanypreviousACPEWACommittee;
d. AstatementexploringthewaytheapplicanthasaddressedtherecommendationsfromanypreviousACPEWACommitteeorconsultation;
e. Acopyofeachofthecandidate’sFinalEvaluations;f. Astatementoflearninggoalsforthefuture,whichincludesadescriptionofthelengthof
timetheapplicantconsiderstobenecessarytogainaccreditationasaLevelIISupervisorandhis/herawarenessofanyobstaclesthatmighthinderprogresstowardsthesame;
g. AllCPESupervisors’reportsifavailable.WheretheSupervisor’sreportincludesrecommendations,theapplicantshouldattachanadditionalpageoutlininghowtheapplicanthasrespondedtotheserecommendations;
h. Apaperof2,000words,articulatingthecandidate’stheologicalpositionthatundergirdshis/herunderstandingofCPEandthedesiretobecomea“CPESupervisor”

i. Apaperofnomorethan2000wordsindicatingthecandidate’sunderstanding,atthisinitialstage,ofsupervisoryconceptsincludingCPEfoundationaltheory,personalitytheory,educationandlearningtheory,andtheology.
TheTrainingSupervisor
TheTrainingSupervisorshallprovidethefollowinginwritingtotheConsultationCommitteememberspriortotheConsultation,allowingthemsufficienttimeforconsiderationandreflection:a. IdentifyareasofsupervisorylearningfortheTrainingSupervisorwiththis
candidate,includingstrengthsandlimitations;b. SubmitawrittenlistofsupervisoryareasthattheTrainingSupervisorseekstobe
exploredintheconsultingtimewiththeTrainingSupervisor.NB Pleasenotethatthereisanhonorariumchargeforthisconsultationof
$120.00
3.0.3 PROCESSforseekingaconsultationforEntrytoSupervisoryCPEFormation
Theprerequisiteshavingbeenconfirmed,theapplicantshallwritetotheSecretary,ACPEWARegistrationandCertificationCommittee(R&C)requestingaConsultationtoassesstheapplicant’sreadinesstoenterSupervisoryCPE.
3.0.4 ACPEWAR&CwillappointaConsultationCommitteecomposedof:
a. Theapplicant’sTrainingSupervisor,beinganaccreditedLevelIIoraccredited/actingLevelIIICPESupervisor
b. TheDCPEoftheCPECentrewheretheapplicantwillengageinSupervisoryCPE.Ifthisisthesamepersonsasabove,theDCPEwillappointanalternateLevelIIorActingLevelIISupervisor
c. ArepresentativeoftheACPEWAR&CCommitteed. Anadditionalmembermaybeaprofessionalfromacloselyalliedorrelateddiscipline,
suchaschaplaincy,theology,education,spiritualdirectionorthepsychotherapeutictradition.
e. TheconsultationshallbechairedbyacommitteememberotherthantheTrainingSupervisor.
f. TheoutcomeoftheconsultationshallbeexpressedinrecommendationstotheapplicantandtotheTrainingSupervisor.
3.0.5 TheCommittee’sroleisto:a. Readtheapplicant’smaterials;b. Interactandreflectwiththeapplicantonthewrittenmaterialsthatsupporttherequest;c. Providefeedbackonhowthecommitteemembersexperiencetheapplicant,ineachof
thethreeareas:personalandspiritualintegration;motivationtoenterSupervisoryCPE;conceptualcompetence,affirmingstrengthsandsuggestingareasforgrowth;
d. OfferfeedbacktotheapplicantandtheTrainingSupervisorontheirperceptionsoftheapplicant’sreadinessforSupervisoryCPE;
e. PreparerecommendationsfortheTrainingSupervisorandtheapplicantregardingtheapplicant’srequesttoenterSupervisoryCPE
f. Expresstherecommendationsbasedoncriterialistedat3.0.above.g. TheChairwillnotifyACPEWAR&CofthecompletionoftheConsultation.

3.0.6 TheTrainingSupervisorandtheDirectoroftheCPECentrewheretheapplicantwillpractiseSupervisoryCPE,willhavethefinalwordontheacceptanceandthecontinuationofanapplicantinSupervisoryCPE.

ACPEWARegistrationandCertificationCommitteearrangesaccreditationreviewsforcandidatesseekingaccreditationatCPESupervisorLevelI.ACPEWAR&CiscommittedtoensuringjustanddueprocesswhenformingAccreditationCommittees.Wherepossible,theparticipationofSupervisorymembersfromANZACPEmemberassociationswillbeinvitedtoparticipateinAccreditationreviewsinWA.ThecandidatemayrequestACPEWAR&CtoarrangetheLevelICPESupervisoryAccreditationpriortoanANZACPEConferenceortobringaccreditedCPESupervisorsfromotherCPEAssociationstoWAfortheReview.Inthesecases,thecandidateorhis/heremployerwillneedtofundtheadditionalcostsoftheAccreditation.InterstateaccreditationreviewsrequireACPEWAaccreditedSupervisorstomakeupatleasttwomembersoftheReviewCommittee.TheCommitteeshallnormallycomprisefive(5)membersdrawnwhereverpossiblefromdifferentaccreditedCentres,genderandfaithtraditions.Wherepossible,aReviewCommitteeappointedbytheRegistrationandCertificationCommitteeshallconsistofatleasttwoCPESupervisorsLevelI,atleastoneCPESupervisorLevelII,atleastoneCPESupervisorLevelIIIandtheDirectoroftheCPECentrewheretheCPESupervisorLevelIhasworkedoranalternative.
3.9.1 RolesoftheCommitteeMembers
Onemember,preferablyanaccreditedCPESupervisorLevelIshallbeappointedpresenterandshallprovideawrittenreviewandevaluationofthecandidate’smaterials.CopiesofthisreportshallbeprovidedforeachmemberoftheCommittee.AcopyofthePresenter’sreportmaybesenttothecandidate24hoursbeforetheReview.Anothermember,otherthantheCentreDirectorandpreferablyaCPESupervisorLevelIII(ActingorAccredited),shallbeappointedCommitteeChairperson.TheChairpersonshallprovideawrittenreportandrecommendationstotheSecretary,ACPEWARegistrationandCertificationCommitteewithinsevendaysoftheReview.AcopyoftheChairperson’sreportshallbeavailabletothecandidateonrequesttotheR&CCommitteeandwithpermissionoftheAdHocCommitteemembers.Allmembersaretoconsidertheclaimsofthecandidateregardingtheircompetencyinpastoralpractice,pastoralsupervisionandtheological/spiritualreflectionontheirpastoralsupervisorypractice,andtodeterminetheirreadinesstobeaccreditedasaCPESupervisorLevelI.ThisconsiderationmaybeundertakeninthelightoftheAssessmentToolforAccreditationwhichtheCommitteemayuse.
3.9.2 Provisionofhospitalitybythecandidate
Inadditionto3.8.3,theCandidateinconsultationwiththeCentreDirector,ensuresthattheCPECentrearrangesavenueandhospitalitye.g.refreshmentsfortheReviewCommittee.
3.9.3 ReportofReviewOutcomes
TheChairoftheReviewCommitteeshall:

a. writeareporttotheACPEWASecretaryR&Cstatingtheprocesses,outcomesandrecommendationsfromtheReviewCommittee.
b. thereportshalleitherrecommendaccreditationatCPELevelIorstatethattherequestforaccreditationatLevelIisnotgranted.
3.10 RegistrationofAccreditation
a. onthereceiptofthereportfromtheAccreditationReviewChair,theR&CshallmeettoapprovetheReviewCommitteerecommendationsandtopreparealettertoberatifiedbyACPEWAManagementCommittee,whichnotifiestheAccreditationapplicantofaccreditationstatusornot.
b. theSecretaryACPEWAshallforwardthelettertotheaccreditationapplicantstatingtheaccreditationstatusandtherecommendations.
c. theSecretaryACPEWAregistersthesupervisoryaccreditation.
3.11 Postaccreditationresponsibilitiesandaccountability
OnreceiptofnotificationofAccreditationatCPESupervisorLevelI,thecandidateshall:a. reviewandprepareanupdatedIndividualLearningPlanandmeetwithaCPESupervisor
LevelIII(ActingorAccredited)toprepareacontractforon-goingEducationinSupervision.TheupdatedILPmaybesubmittedtoACPEWAR&Cforregistration.
b. negotiatewithaCentreDirectortocommencepractisingasanaccreditedCPESupervisorLevelI.TheCPESupervisorLevelIisauthorisedtosupervisewithinCPEunits,underthesupervisionofaCPESupervisorLevelIIorIII(AccreditedorActing)
ThefollowingsectionsprovideguidelinesforLevelISupervisors,CourseConductorsandCentreDirectorsfunctioningwithinaCPEunit.
3.12 ResponsibilitiesofLevelICPESupervisors
TheemphasisfortheLevelICPESupervisoristoassisttheparticipantingainingasenseofpastoralidentityandprofessionalself-worth.Pastoralsupervisionaimstodevelopparticipants’qualitiesandabilities,whichfacilitatetheenjoymentofandcompetenceintheirpastoralpractice.Theresponsibilitiesforadministration,groupco-ordination,direction
andeducationassociatedwithaccreditationbelongtoothersupervisorylevels.
InaCPEunit,theCPESupervisorLevelIisresponsiblefor:• individualsupervisionforselectedLevelIandwhereappropriateLevelIICPE
participants;• supervisionofnomorethantwothirdsoftheparticipantsinagroupandinnocase
exceedingthreeselectedparticipantsinanyoneunit;• leadershipwithinthecontextofclinicalseminarsandcaseconferencesasspecifiedby
theCourseCoordinator;• activesupporttotheactingoraccreditedCPELevelII/LevelIIISupervisorconductingthe
course;• aonepagereportoftheirsupervisionofeachCPEparticipantsupervised,tobe
maintainedforfiveyearsintheCentrefiles(Guidelinesforthereportasper3.5.2ciii)
3.13 AccountabilityoftheCPELevelISupervisor
AtalltimestheCPELevelISupervisorwillbeaccountabletotheCentreDirectorforfunctioningintheunitsofCPEwithintheCentre.TheCentreDirectorensuresthattheCPESupervisorLevelIreceivesongoingindividualCPEandpeergroupsupervisionappropriatetotheirprofessionalstanding.Relevantprofessionaldevelopment,includingpastoral,theological,andsupervisoryeducation,willbeencouragedbytheCentreDirector.

3.14 Withinthefiveyearreviewperiod,theLevelICPESupervisormustcomplete100pointsofprofessionaldevelopmentforSupervisors,ofwhichatleast25pointsshallbeconductedwithinACPEWAInc.andrelatedtoCPESupervisorypractice.UsuallythiswouldreflectavarietyofProfessionalDevelopmentactivities(SeeAppendixTen)
3.15 ResponsibilitiesoftheCourseConductor
WhilsttheCPELevelISupervisorassistsinsupervisionintheunit,theCourseConductor(AccreditedorActingLevelIISupervisororLevelIIISupervisor)shall:
• beresponsibleandaccountabletotheinstitutionmanagementinwhichCPEparticipantsareplacedfortheconductoftheCPEunit;
• attendandhaveoversightofallclinicalseminarsandcaseconferencesintheCPEunit;• welcomeandorientateCPEparticipantstotheCPEprogramme;• beresponsiblefortheoversightandfacilitationofgroupdevelopmentandfunctioning;• directtheworkoftheactingoraccreditedLevelICPESupervisorandconsultdirectly
withthemonatleastfiveoccasionsduringeachunittoplan,monitorandevaluatetheCPEunit;
• ensurethattheActingorAccreditedLevelICPESupervisorwritesaonepagereportofhisorhersupervisionofeachparticipant,tobemaintainedforfiveyears(5)intheCentrefiles.
• ensurethattherecordsoftheActingorAccreditedLevelIIorLevelIIISupervisorsconductingthecoursearefiledintheCPECentre.
3.16 ContinuationofActingStatus
AcandidatenotaccreditedasaLevelISupervisorfollowingreviewmaybepermittedtocontinuetoactasanActingLevelISupervisorwithinapprovedprogrammesofCPEforsuchperiodsastheRegistrationandCertificationCommitteeshalldetermine.
3.17 ReviewofAccreditation(OrRe-Accreditation)LevelISupervisor
AccreditationasaLevelICPESupervisorissubjecttoongoingreviewafterfive(5)years.HowevertheACPEWAManagementCommitteereservestherighttorequestareviewatsuchtimesasdeemednecessary.Intheperiodunderreview,itisexpectedthattheapplicantshallhavesupervisedinatleastoneCPEunitinanaccreditedCPECentreandcompletedtheAssociation’sProfessionalDevelopmentrequirementsforaLevelICPESupervisor.AccreditationwilllapseforaSupervisorwhohasnotfulfilledtheserequirementswithinafive(5)yearperiod.LevelICPESupervisorswhoareunabletomeetthisrequirementmustappealinwritingtotheR&Ccommittee,detailingreasonstosupporttheirrequestforextensionoftheiraccreditation.ThislettermustbeaccompaniedbyaletterofsupportfromtheirCentreDirector.
3.17.1 ApplicationforReviewofAccreditationWrittenapplicationforreviewofaccreditationshallbemadetotheSecretary,ACPEWARegistrationandCertificationCommitteebyMarch1stintheyearfollowingthefifthyearofaccreditation.ThisapplicationwillincludeacopyoftheSupervisor’sProfessionalDevelopmentLogBooktogetherwithachequefortheprescribedreviewfee.TheSupervisormakingtheapplicationshouldindicatewherehe/sheenvisagestheRe-AccreditationReviewistobeheld.Itisunderstoodthatapplicationforreviewprovidesconditionalextensionofaccreditationuptothereviewdate.

3.17.2 CommitteeforReviewofAccreditationLevelISupervisor
TheReviewCommitteeshallbearrangedbytheRegistrationandCertificationCommitteeinconsultationwiththePresidentofACPEWAInc.andtheSupervisortobereviewed.Wherepossible,thefivememberCommitteeshallconsistofamajorityofSupervisorsaccreditedasCPELevelIorIISupervisorsandotherConsultantsasrequired.TheReviewCommitteeshallbechairedbythemostappropriateSupervisorfortheparticularreview,whoshallpresentareportandrecommendationtotheRegistrationandCertificationCommitteewithinsevendaysoftheReview.ThecandidateinconsultationwiththeCentreDirectorensuresthattheCentrearrangesavenueandhospitalitye.g.refreshmentsfortheReviewCommittee.
Thecandidateincludeswiththematerialsacoveringletterindicatingdate,time,directionstothelocationoftheReviewCommitteemeetingandthecostandavailabilityofparkingortravelarrangements.
3.18 MaterialsforReviewofAccreditationLevelISupervisor
Thefollowingmaterialsarerequired:
1) acompletedCoverSheetasperAppendix5includingdecisionsandrecommendationsfromthepreviousCommittees.
2) anevaluation(ofnomorethan5,000words)ofthesalientfeaturesofhis/her
professionalexperiencesincetheirlastaccreditation.Thiscouldincludeevidencefromhis/herpastoralpracticeandpastoralsupervision;andreflectionuponandevaluationofrelationshipswithCPEparticipants,ACPEWASupervisors,InstitutionandChurchauthorities.
3) evaluationsoftheapplicant’ssupervisionoftwoCPEparticipants,ensuringthatthey
includecontrastingsupervisoryexperiences,limitedtoonepage,notexceeding500wordseach;
4) anevaluativestatementattestingtotheimpactofprofessionaldevelopment
undertakenaccordingtoStandard3.13ontheSupervisor’spractice.5) astatementaddressingtheCPELevelISupervisor’splansforthefuture(limitedto500
words);6) areportfromtheCentreDirector,whichaddressestheprofessionalsupervisorypractice

4.0 SupervisoryResponsibilitiesasaLevelIICPESupervisor
TheAssociationforClinicalPastoralEducationinWesternAustraliaInc.recognisesCPEsupervisionasaseniorprofessionaldiscipline.AccreditationasaLevelIICPESupervisoristheaccreditationrequiredtoindependentlyconductACPEWAInc.certifiedprogrammesofCPEanddirectACPEWAInc.accreditedCPECentres.
4.1 FunctionsandrolesoftheLevelIICPESupervisor
TheLevelIICPESupervisorisauthorisedtoconductandmaybetheCentreDirectorofanindependentlyaccreditedCPECentre,maintainingtheStandardsoftheAssociation,andindialogueandfellowshipwithsupervisorycolleagues.TheLevelIICPESupervisormaysupervisetheworkofLevelIandLevelIICPEstudentssinglyorinsmallgroups.TheLevelIICPESupervisormaydirectandco-ordinatetheworkofoneormoreLevelICPESupervisor,andprovideindividualsupervisionforanActingLevelIICPEsupervisorbutisnotauthorisedtoprovide"educationinsupervision"(SeeSections3.5,3.6and3.12oftheAssociationStandards).
4.1.1 SupervisoryexperiencesatthislevelfollowthedecisiontobegintoactasaLevelIICPE
Supervisor.SuchadecisionshallbetakeninconsultationwithaSupervisoraccreditedoractingasaLevelIIICPESupervisor.
4.1.2 CandidatesintendingtoactasaLevelIICPESupervisorwillhavecompletedaBachelor
DegreeinTheologyortheologicalstudiesequivalenttoaBachelorofTheology.
PriorLearninginrelationtobeinggrantedActingLevelIISupervisorstatus.TheareasofstudycompletedshouldincludestudiesinareasequivalenttothoseinaBachelorofTheology.ProspectivecandidatesforActingLevelIIstatuswhobelievetheyhaveequivalenttheologicalcompetencewillneedtodemonstrateequivalency.CopiesofacademictranscriptsandestimationofrelevantqualificationsshouldbesubmittedwiththerequesttobegrantedActingLevelIISupervisorstatus.
4.2 PeriodofEducation
Acandidatemay,afterduenotificationtotheSecretary,RegistrationandCertificationCommittee,actasaLevelIICPESupervisorforaperiodofuptothreeyears.Anyextensionbeyondthisperiodwouldrequiretheapplicationto,andthespecificapprovalof,theRegistrationandCertificationCommittee.
4.3 EducationinSupervision
"EducationinSupervision"impliesthespecificeducationofthecandidateinthephilosophyandmethodologyofsupervisionbyaLevelIIICPESupervisororpersonactingatthatlevelasdistinctfromtheindividualsupervisionoftheActingLevelIIICPESupervisor.ItshouldbenotedthatiftheCPESupervisorisactingasaLevelIIICPESupervisorandprovidingthe"EducationinSupervision",theActingLevelIIICPESupervisorshallpresentforaccreditationasaLevelIIICPESupervisorwithinthreeyearsorwithinsixmonthsofcompletingtherequiredunitsofeducationinsupervisionreferredtoin5.6oftheAssociationStandards.

4.4 PeergroupcoursesinSupervisoryEducation
PriortopresentationforcertificationasaLevelIICPESupervisor,itisconsidereddesirablethatcandidatestakeacourseofsupervisoryeducation.ItissuggestedthatsuchacourseincludeaminimumpeergroupofthreeaccreditedLevelICPESupervisorsandbeofthirtyhoursduration.ThecoursecurriculumshallattempttointegratethetheoryandpracticeofCPEsupervision.Thecourseshallstudyrelevantpapersonthemethodology,philosophy,spirituality,theologyandpracticeofclinicalpastoralsupervision,itshallgiveattentiontothestudyoftheACPEWAStandardsandshallprovidetheopportunityforSupervisorsintrainingtoreviewthewrittenbriefand/ordetailedaccountsoftheirsupervisionandevaluatetheirprogress.
4.5 IntentiontoAct
TheSecretaryoftheRegistrationandCertificationCommitteeshouldbenotifiedoftheSupervisor'sintentiontoactasaLevelIICPESupervisorwithasupportingletterfromtheCentreDirectorinwhichthecourseswillbeconductedandfromtheLevelIIICPESupervisorwhowillbeconductingthe"EducationinSupervision".
4.6 Requiredpracticalexperience
Followingtheprecedingnegotiations,thecandidatemayactforaminimumoftwoandnomorethanfourCPEunitswithinthreeyears.Duringtheactingperiodthecandidate'sexperiencesinsupervisionshouldincludethefollowing:
4.6.1 Planning,ConductingandEvaluating
Actualplanning,conductandevaluationofaminimumoftwounitsofCPE(individuallysupervising6students),inasatisfactorymannerandinvolvingaminimumofthreedifferentstudentsineach400hourCPEunitandundertheoversightoftheDirectoroftheaccreditedCPECentreinwhichthecoursesarebeingconducted.AwrittenevaluationofeachunitasanActingLevelIICPESupervisorisrequired.(ANZACPErecommendsthecandidateconductsfourunits/8studentsminimumeachof400hoursCPEorlonger(ortheequivalentinpart-timeunits)beforepresentingforLevelIIaccreditation.)ACPEWAcandidatesforAccreditationatLevelIIshouldconsultbroadlyonhis/herreadinesstopresentforanANZACPELevelIIAccreditationReview.
4.6.2 ChangestoActingSupervisoryStatus
4.6.2.1 IfafterthecompletionofconductingoneormoreCPEUnits,anActingLevelIICPESupervisordecidestodiscontinuetrainingasaCPESupervisor,he/sheandtheCentreDirector,willnotifytheSecretary,ACPEWAR&CoftheActingLevelIICPESupervisor'sdecisiontoceasesupervisorytraining.
4.6.2.2 IfafterthecompletionofoneormoreCPEunitsanActingLevelIICPESupervisor
ceasestoact,butintendstoreturntohisorhertraining,theActingSupervisorwillwritetotheSecretaryR&CCommitteerequestingtemporaryleave.ThisrequestneedstoincludeasupportingletterfromtheCentreDirector.
4.6.2.3 Iftheleaveexceeds24monthsandtheSupervisoronleavewishestoresumehisor

Actualco-ordination,directionandoversightoftheworkofoneormoreLevelICPESupervisorsand/oractingLevelICPESupervisors.AcandidateseekingaccreditationasaLevelIICPESupervisorwhohasnotco-ordinated,directedorhadoversightoftheworkofoneormoreLevelICPESupervisor/s,iseligibleforaccreditationbutshalldemonstratethepossessionoftheskillsandsensitivityneededforthistask,aspartofthereview.(see3.11and3.15)
4.7 AccreditationReviewProcesses:Application

4.14 ReviewofAccreditationorRe-Accreditation
AccreditationasaLevelIICPESupervisorissubjecttoongoingreviewafterfiveyearsorreviewatsuchotherperiodsastheManagementCommitteeofACPEWAInc.shallfromtimetotimedetermineinparticularinstances.ItisexpectedthattheapplicanthasconductedatleastoneaccreditedunitofCPEandhasmettheAssociation'sProfessionalDevelopmentrequirementsforaCPESupervisor(4.13.1),withintheperiodunderreview.AccreditationwilllapseforaSupervisorwhohasnotfulfilledthisrequirementwithinafiveyearperiod.CPESupervisorswhoareunabletomeetthisrequirementmustappealinwritingtotheR&CCommittee,detailingreasonstosupporttheirrequestforanextensionoftheiraccreditation.Whereappropriate,thisrequestmustbeaccompaniedbyaletterofsupportfromtheirCentreDirector.
4.14.1 ApplicationforReviewofAccreditation
WrittenapplicationforreviewofaccreditationshallbemadetotheSecretaryoftheRegistrationandCertificationCommitteebyApril1stoftheyearfollowingcompletionoffiveyearsofsupervisorypractice.ThisapplicationwillincludeacopyoftheSupervisor'sProfessionalDevelopmentLogBook,togetherwithachequefortheprescribedreviewfee.ThereviewshalltakeplaceatthetimeoftheANZACPEConference.Itisunderstoodthatapplicationforreviewprovidesconditionalextensionofaccreditationuptothereviewdate.
4.14.2 ReviewofAccreditationCommittee
TheReviewCommitteeshallbearrangedbyChair,ANZACPEProfessionalStandardsCommitteeinconsultationwiththeACPEWAInc.RegistrationandCertificationCommittee,thePresidentoftheAssociationandtheSupervisortobereviewed.
4.14.2.1 Thecandidateshouldincludewiththematerialsacoveringletterindicatingdate,
time,andlocationofthereview,withparkingarrangementsforCommitteememberswhomaylivelocally.
4.14.2.2 Candidatesrequestinganaccreditationreviewoutsidetheframeworkofthe

TheLevelIIICPESupervisorisauthorisedtoconductanindependentlycertifiedprogrammeofCPEmaintainingtheStandardsoftheAssociation,andindialogueandfellowshipwithSupervisorycolleagues.TheLevelIIICPESupervisormaysupervisetheworkofLevel1andLevelIIstudentssinglyorinsmallgroups.TheLevelIIICPESupervisormaydirectandco-ordinatetheworkofoneormoreLevelICPESupervisorsandLevelIICPESupervisors,andmayprovideEducationinSupervisionforSupervisorsactingasaLevelIorLevelIICPESupervisor;oractingLevelIIICPE.
5.2 Consultation
SupervisoryexperiencesatthislevelfollowthedecisiontobegintoactasaLevelIIISupervisor.SuchadecisionshallbetakeninconsultationwithfellowSupervisorsinACPEWAandinANZACPE.ThecandidateaspiringtobeanEducatorshallpresentforaccreditationasaLevelIIICPESupervisorwithinthreeyearsofnotifyingtheRegistrationandCertificationCommitteeoftheintentiontosoactorwithinsixmonthsofcompletingtherequiredunitsofEducationinSupervisionreferredtoin5.6.
5.3 IntentiontoAct
TheSecretary,RegistrationandCertificationCommitteeshallbenotifiedoftheCPESupervisor'sintentiontoactasaLevelIIICPESupervisor.NotificationshallincludeasupportingletterfromtheLevelIIISupervisorwhowillbeconsultanttothecandidateduringtheperiodofactingasLevelIIISupervisor.
5.4 PeriodofEducation
Acandidatemay,afterduenotificationtotheRegistrationandCertificationCommittee,actasLevelIIISupervisorforaperiodofuptothreeyears.ExtensionsbeyondthisperiodofactingshallbedeterminedbytheavailabilityofSupervisorsseekingEducationinSupervisionandbyapplicationto,andtheapprovaloftheRegistrationandCertificationCommittee.ThecandidateshalldemonstrateactivepursuitofopportunitiestoconductunitsofEducationinSupervisionandshallundertaketopresentforaccreditationwithinsixmonthsofcompletingtherequiredunits(5.6).

"EducationinSupervision"impliesthespecificeducationofCPESupervisorsinthephilosophyandmethodologyofsupervisionbyaLevelIIICPESupervisororpersonactingatthatlevel.ThisEducationinSupervisiontakesplacebothinthecoursework(5.6.3)andintheindividualsessionswiththeLevelIIISupervisor(5.6.2).

AccreditationasaLevelIIISupervisorissubjecttoongoingreviewafterfiveyearsorreviewatsuchotherperiodsastheManagementCommitteeofACPEWAInc.shallfromtimetotimedetermineinparticularinstances.ItisexpectedthattheapplicantshallhavesupervisedinatleastoneaccreditedunitofCPEwithintheperiodunderreviewandundertakenaminimumoftwentyhoursofprofessionaldevelopmentperannum.AccreditationwilllapseifaSupervisorhasnotsoughtareviewofaccreditationwithinafiveyearperiodsincethelastreview.
Oncompletionof15yearsofpracticeasaCPESupervisorandasaLevelIIISupervisor,andthecompletionofoneaccreditationreviewfollowingaccreditationasaLevelIIISupervisor,thepersonmayapplytotheR&CCommitteeforrecommendationtotheManagementCommitteethattheybeawardedanHonoraryFellowship.HavingattainedHonoraryFellowshipinthisway,theLevelIIISupervisorshallnotberequiredtopresentforReviewofAccreditationunlesstheLevelIIISupervisorrequestsareview.TheLevelIIISupervisorwithhonorarystatuswillreporttoR&Ceachfiveyearswithanaccountoftheprofessionaldevelopmentcompleted,inlinewithACPEWAStandards.AreviewwillberequestedbytheRegistrationandCertificationCommitteeifithasreceivedwrittencomplaintsfromaCentreDirector,orSupervisorycolleagues,orsupervisees.TheR&CCommitteewilldeterminewhetherthecomplaintisaddressedbyaReviewCommitteeortheACPEWAManagementCommittee.

WrittenapplicationforreviewofaccreditationshallbemadetotheSecretaryoftheRegistrationandCertificationCommitteebyDecember31stofthefifthyearofaccreditation.ThereviewshalltakeplaceatthefollowingANZACPESupervisors’Conference.Itisunderstoodthatapplicationforreviewprovidesconditionalextensionofaccreditationuptothereviewdate.

referencetospecificstudents,issues,themesandincidents.iii) AnevaluationofrelationshipswiththeCPECentreDirector(s)orequivalentwhere
applicable–andthecandidate’ssupervisor(s)andmentors.iv) Astatementdemonstratingthewaythecandidatehasaddressedtheissuesrelatingto
professionalidentityandfunctionasLevelIISupervisorincludingplans/goalsforthefuture.
3.1.8 ForASPEAandSANTACPEapplicantsandothercandidateswhohavecompletedaunitof
“EducationinSupervision”anevaluationofthecandidate’sparticipationinthatunitincludingtherelationshipswiththeLevelIIISupervisor,andanevaluationofthepeergroupcourseinsupervision.
3.1.9 Astatementbythecandidateandco-signedbytheCentreDirector(s),verifyingthatarelease
formgivingpermissionforthecandidatetousestudents’tapedvignettesandwrittenmaterialsintheiraccreditationprocess,hasbeensignedbythestudent(s)concerned,andisstoredintheCentrewiththestudent(s’)materials.

4.0 ProvisionalAccreditation
IntheeventofthecandidatebeingunabletosatisfytheANZACPEStandardsforAccreditation,theReviewCommitteemaydecidetorecommendtothememberorganisationthatprovisionalaccreditationbegrantedfortheperiodofoneyear.
4.1 ThecandidateshallundertaketofulfiltheCommittee’srecommendationsinhis/her
supervisorypracticeanddemonstratethesametoasubsequentReviewintwelvemonths.4.2 Thememberorganisationshallretaintherighttograntprovisionalaccreditation.4.3 Thememberorganisationshalloverseeandsupportthecandidate’ssupervisorypractice
duringtheprovisionalperiodandshallberesponsibleforrequestingthesubsequentreview.4.4 Shouldthesubsequentreviewnotoccurintherequiredtimeframe,accreditationshalllapse.
ThememberorganisationshallberesponsiblefornotifyingtheANZACPERegistrar.4.4.1 Intheeventofanextensiontotheperiodofprovisionalaccreditationbeingrequiredan
appealmaybemadetothememberassociationinthefirstinstanceandtotheANZACPEProfessionalStandardsCommitteeinthesecond,givingreasonsfortherequest.
4.4.2 Anyextensionswillnotexceed24monthsfromthedateofthefirstreview.5.0 Re-accreditationatLevel11
Re-accreditationreviewsaretobeheldaftereveryfive(5)yearswithamaximumperiodofseven(7)yearsbetweenreviews.Acandidateseekingre-accreditationisrequiredtoclearlydemonstrateandgiveevidenceoffunctioningataprofessionallevelofsupervisioninaccordancewithStandards2.1-2.6above.
5.1 Candidatesshallapplytotheirmemberassociationrequestingare-accreditationreview.ThememberassociationshallwritetotheChairoftheProfessionalStandardsCommitteenolaterthantwo(2)monthspriortotheproposedreviewdaterequestingtheformationofaReviewCommitteeontheirbehalf.Theletterofsupportshallcontain:• Thecandidate’sname,postalandemaildetails• Summaryofthecandidate’sCPEsupervisionundertakensincethelastreviewor
equivalentsupervisoryactivity• Thecandidate’sfaithaffiliation• Namesandemail,telephoneandpostaldetailsofpotentialReviewCommitteemembers
fromthememberassociation,oneofwhomisnominatedasChair.5.1.2 MemberassociationsareentitledtofieldthreeaccreditedSupervisorsatLevelIIoraboveon
acandidate’sReviewCommittee.5.1.3 InformingReviewCommitteesthecandidateandCommitteemembersnominatedbythe
memberassociationshallbenotifiedandgiventheopportunitytoexpressreservationsinrelationtoanyproposedmember.Intheeventofanobjectiontotheproposedmembership,reasonsshallbepresentedtotheChairandtheANZACPEProfessionalStandardsCommitteerepresentativefromthememberassociationforconsideration.

onepagefocusingonthecandidate’saddressingofthesame,makingreferencetoprofessionaldevelopmentopportunitiestakenupandissuesaddressedinthecandidate’sownsupervision.
5.2.4 Anevaluation(limitedtofourA4typedpages)ofthesalientfeaturesoftheSupervisor’sworkasaLevelIISupervisorduringthepastfiveyears,highlightingthehighandlowpointintheSupervisor’srelationshipswithstudents,supervisorycolleagues,peers,LevelIandLevelIIISupervisors,theClinicalPastoralEducationorganisation,Institution,churchauthoritiesand/orfaithcommunity.
5.2.5 Anevaluation(limitedtofiveA4typedpages)oftheSupervisor’sprofessionaldevelopment
insupervisionundertakensincethelastreview.ThisshouldaddresschallengesandinsightsgleanedfromreflectionontheSupervisor’sengagementinthesupervisoryprocessthroughhis/hersupervisoryinterventions,theSupervisor’sexperienceofreceivingprofessionalsupervisionandreading,studyortrainingundertakenwithinthefield.
5.2.6 Documentaryevidenceofprofessionalsupervisorycontractsandanycoursesortraining
completedsincethelastreview.Thiswillincludealetterofsupportforthecandidate’srequestfromhis/hersupervisorindicatingcontractualagreementandareasoffocusforthecandidate’ssupervisionsincethelastreview.
