My Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Theresa,
Our journey has begun
M any thanks to all who celebrated with mixed feelings the leaving of our Church home last Sunday evening and ventured to the
Gym, our new place for Sunday worship. Many people helped to make last weekend a celebration, not least Deacon Dwight and Johanna Bransford, who are coordinating the phase two of our Capital Campaign. On your behalf, I would like to thank them.
Thank you Deacon Larry also, for speaking to us from a deep faith, love of God, and the parish of which you have been a member since you he was one year old. Our maintenance men, under the direction of Andras Bandi, have worked tirelessly and joyfully. Their praise often goes unsung. Please thank them when you meet them. Our journey has begun! Describing ourselves on a journey reminds us that we are pilgrims, “not resting peacefully until we rest in Christ.” Let us stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters close to home and throughout the world, where so many are suffering. May we be united in prayer as we remember the victims of extreme weather here in the U.S. along with the people of Mexico, and the millions that are refugees, having left their homes in fear, facing, so often, neighbors that do not want them.
I wish peace to every man, woman and child, and I pray that the im-age and likeness of God in each person will enable us to acknowledge one another as sacred gifts endowed with immense dignity. Especial-ly in situations of conflict, let us respect this, our “deepest dignity,”
and make active nonviolence our way of life. This time of Transformation is an opportunity to extend the mercy that we receive from God to all of those that are also part of His creation. Matthew 20-: 1-16a, today’s Gospel speaks about the beautiful bounty of God, availa-ble to all. In thanking God for your generosity to our Church and School, may that same God, made known in Jesus, increase the openness of our hearts to all. With every good wish,
Fr. Phil
