Before you can celebrate a successful event, there is a lot of planning you need to do to make it all run
smoothly. Thoroughly planning your events makes it much easier on the big day. But exactly how do you
go about setting up an event? In this session well cover Myths, Facts, Challenges, and Tips in areas you
might not have thought about before to make your event-planning life even better. By the time were
finished, youll be ready to toast your next successful event!
DR. COLLEEN DI RADDOIS THAT WHY THEY DOTHAT?!?!College Center, Room 211As leaders, each of us will work with others who seem so different from us! No they are not from
another planet nor are they weird. They approach and interact with the world in specific ways that may
be opposite to your approach. Using the Myers Briggs Type Indicator we will identify different
approaches to interacting with the world. When you have an idea of the options, leading others who
are different may be easier because you will know some strategies to use as you work together! This is
a highly interactive workshop; you will identify your approach and may understand others who use a

First well look at today our current pressing issues. Then well look at tomorrow our vision of whatwe really want! Together, well fill the gap between what is and what could be with concrete
actions that will improve our ability to lead purposefully and improve our results. Be prepared to leave
with direction in the form of actual goals actually written down!PEG VOORHEESDRESS FOR SUCCESSCollege Center, Room 211This session will introduce a basic understanding of how to Dress for Success and create a positive first
impression for a potential employer. A picture is worth a thousand words. The picture you create will
greatly influence your chances of being hired. This 40 minute session will introduce students to basic
knowledge of what it means to present a professional appearance using the proper clothing, grooming
and behavioral practices. Following a general presentation, students will be asked to engage in an
interactive exercise to discuss various interview scenarios.
JEFF ELLISLEADERSHIP - FROM THE CAMPUS TO THE WORKPLACECollege Center, Room 213Wesley Alumnus and former campus leader Jeff Ellis will discuss the transition from being a Campus
Leader to becoming a Workplace Leader. Many of the skills being learned and developed by campus
leaders are necessary for success in the workplace. Jeff will discuss his experiences as a campus leader
at Wesley and also his perspective as a recruiting and hiring executive for a large company to reveal
leadership skills and attributes that are critical (and lacking) in today's workplace.
DR. LYNN LOFTHOUSECOMMUNICATING AS A LEADERCollege Center, Room 210Verbal communication is extremely important in being an effective leader. However, lets not forget out
non-verbal communication. Learn how verbal and non-verbal communication strategies can make or
break and effective leader.

after learning 5 key topics related to recruiting members, youll discover that giving them meaningfulwork to do keeps them involved for the long haul. Well finish our time together looking at ways to
acknowledge members for their work on behalf of our groups in order to not only retain them but
convince them to assume more for the organization. Beware: this is a fast-paced session, so come ready

body feels like its running on fumes. Student leaders hit road blocks every day procrastination,
working with different types of people, leading peers, etc. Learn key tools on how to keep your energy
going and maintaining your enthusiasm.

BIOGRAPHIESDr. Jacqueline HodesJacqueline Hodes is the Assistant to the Vice President for Student Affairs at West Chester University in West
Chester, Pennsylvania. She has been at West Chester for 25 years in various positions in Student Affairs. She has
worked closely with college students by challenging and supporting their education, growth, and development.
Dr. Hodes also teaches as an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Counselor Education at West Chester
University and the Department of Educational Leadership at the University of Delaware. She is a frequent
presenter on issues of leadership, civility, and diversity at local institutions of higher education. Dr. Hodes is a true
Blue Henshe has earned a B.A. in Sociology and Psychology, a M.Ed. in College Counseling and Student Personnel
Administration, and an Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration/Educational Leadership from the University of
Delaware. Her research interests involve understanding best practices in learning outcomes assessment in co-
curricular and extra-curricular activities on a college campus. Dr. Hodes has lived in Delaware for 30 years.E-mail: [email protected]
Jeff EllisJeff Ellis is a Wesley College alumnus (Class of '88) and graduated with a B.S. in Environmental Sciences. While
attending Wesley, Jeff was an active leader on the campus in Residence Life (3 years as an RA and RD), Greek Life
(a Founder of the Wesley Greek system and President of Sigma Pi fraternity chapter), and also various clubs and
the SGA. Since graduating from Wesley Jeff has had a varied career spanning 20+ years in the waste management,insurance and transportation industries. He has 15 years of experience as a manager and leader in operations, risk
management/safety and human resources. Jeff is currently the Vice President, Human Resources for TransCare, a
2,700 employee medical transportation company with operations in DE, NY, PA, and MD.

Counseling with dual emphasis in Student Personnel Services and Secondary Guidance. She has worked at a variety
of educational institutions in a variety of capacities from Admissions, Student Activities, Counseling to her current
role as Dean of Students and Interim Dean of Admissions. Dean Ozechoski is a published author, speaks nationally

the Chaplain. She is passionate about meeting students where they are and walking with them as they figure out

Chris KinkadeChris Kinkade received his Bachelors degree in Broadcasting and Telecommunications from Temple University. He
worked as a Supervisor for Temple Universities Telefund program for 2 years and is currently managing the Wesley
College Phonathon program.E-mail: [email protected] KinkadeAmanda Kinkade joined Wesley College as the Coordinator for Student Life in August 2008. She currently serves asthe Special Assistant to the President and Coordinator for Intramural Sports & Recreation. She has experience
working in Residence Life and graduated with a M.Ed. in College Student Affairs from the University of South
Florida in Tampa.
E-mail: [email protected]. Colleen Di RaddoDr. Colleen Di Raddo, Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs, has been at Wesley since April, 2010. She has
been in Higher Education as a teacher or administrator since 1990. She has a Ph.D. from Temple University.
Several things you would not know about her are: she has had extensive experience as an International Trainer
working in South Africa, the Caribbean and North America; she sings and a member of a Christian singing group
she has traveled and sung in the US and Canada.E-mail: [email protected] VoorheesPeg Voorhees is an alumna of Wesley College graduating magna cum laude in Spring, 2002 with a B.S. in Business
Administration. Her professional background includes experience in healthcare consulting and corporate sales.
Upon graduation from Wesley, Peggy embarked on a corporate sales career enjoying an outside sales position with
Staples Business Expo based in Dover, DE where she was recognized as Presidents Club Winner in her sales
division. Peggy later worked as an Account Executive for Oakwood Worldwide, a global leader in the Corporate
Housing Industry. She enjoyed traveling across the U.S. on assignment while selling corporate housing to Fortune
500 and Fortune 1000 clients. In her most recent position with Preferred Health Technology, a subsidiary of BC/BS
of SC, she worked as a Manager of Business Development selling payment processing solutions to physicians
practices and healthcare providers in the DC, Baltimore and Delaware area. Peggy resides in Rock Hall, MD and
has two sons, Jake & Sam, both currently pursuing degree programs in college.E-mail: [email protected] ReedShannon graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and has recently completed his Masters in
Business Administration at Wesley College. In his undergraduate roles at Wesley, Shannon held the president and
vice-president positions in organizations on campus Student Government Association, Psychology Club, and Psi
Chi. As a graduate student, Shannon works as Resident Director of Williams Hall, the Graduate Assistant for
Student Organizations and is the previous supervisor of Howl @ The Moon. He is also currently employed for his
sixth year at National Corporate Research, Ltd.E-mail: [email protected]. Lynn LofthouseDr. Lofthouse has a Masters and Ph.D. in Communication from AZ State University and Pennsylvania State
University. She has presented numerous conference papers in this area. At Wesley, she teaches courses in

elements of this variable.
