ACTION FOR CHILDREN
ACTION FOR CHILDREN (AFC) DON'T WAIT! APPLY NOW! Forms Available at High Ridge YMCA
Action for Children (AFC) is a child-care financial assistance program provided by the Illinois Department of Human Services for low-income, working families. You may pick up applications, re-determination forms and change-of-provider forms at the High Ridge YMCA. Action for Children can take up to a month to give approval; you must plan accordingly in order to have approval before the first week of camp.
If you are not approved before the first day of camp, you will have to pay the full price until approval is received. Regardless of your approval status, you are required to put $30 down at the time of registration for each week
of camp. This money will be applied toward your total monthly payment fees.
After you are accepted in the program you are responsible for paying the parent assigned monthly co-pay* each month IN ADDITION to the differential. The differential is the daily cost of our program less the daily rate paid by AFC.
For example, if your child is a member of the YMCA and your AFC parent assigned co-payment is $300 per month, you are also responsible for a differential of $90 per month. The total monthly parent fees would then be $390.
If your child is NOT a member of the YMCA and your AFC parent assigned co-payment is $300 per month, you are also responsible for a differential of $170 (see table below).
