createaplatformforexchangeofideas/experiencesandtoofficiallylaunchtheSESproject.Day,onecommencedwithanintroductionsessionamongparticipantsandmembersofthehostuniversity.WelcomingspeechesbytheRectoroftheuniversity,bytheDeanoftheEducation,ArtsandArchitecturefacultyandbytheHeadofMigrationandGlobalizationdepartmentwereheldrespectively.TeammembersfrombothprojectsandtheEuropeanpartnerspresentedonarangeoftopics.ThefirstpresentationwasconductedbyDarshiniMahadeviafromCEPTonthespecificsituationinIndia.Inthispresentation,theslumfreecityplanningcontextsapproachesandmethodologieswereexplained.Presentationson‘housingEthiopia’byMr.YonasAlemayehuSorressaandon‘SurveyreportonArchitecturecurriculainEthiopia’byDawitBentiErenawerealsoconducted.BothpresenterswerefromEiABC.Thefirstpresenterprovidedageneraloverviewon

housingissuesinEthiopiaandexplainedurbanizationhistory,housingcondition,housingdemandandsupplyandthekeyconsiderationsforfuturehousingstrategies.ThesecondpresenterprovidedanoverviewofarchitecturaleducationhistoryinEthiopia,itsregionaldistribution,durationofcompletion,harmonizedcurriculumanddescriptionsofthearchitectureundergraduateandpostgraduateprograms.GeraldSteiner,DeanoffaultyofBusinessandGlobalization(DUK)likewisewelcomedteammembersatDUK.

Cityprofilesfrombothprojectswerealsopresentedfollowedbyheateddiscussions.

SitevisitinViennaTheseminarparticipantswereprovidedwithguidedtoursinViennaonthe7thand8thofMarch.TheaimoftheguidedtourswastointroducetheapproachofsocialhousingprojectsinVienna.Thetourswereguidedbylocalexperts,architects,socialworkersprovidinginformationonthedevelopmentprocess,thecurrentsituationsofthebuildingsandcommunities.Afirst

DiscussionatthecommunitycenterSchöopfwerk

Schöpfwerkisamunicipalresidentialareawhichishometomanymigrantsfromothercontinents.Discussionwasconductedatthecommunitycenteronthecivicengagementandresidentialconflictresolutionspracticeofthearea.TheSecondtourwasconductedatSonnwendtquarterVienna;aCo-housingandcooperativehousingproject.Thisprojectwasinitiatedbydeveloperswiththesupportofthecitygovernment.Theypromotedtheirideas/proposaltothepublicandinterestedindividualsbecameshareownersofthehousingproject.

Ontheseconddayofthetour,participantswereprovidedwithapresentationonanewsmartgridcitydevelopmentapproachandtheimplementationoftheapproachonthedevelopmentofthenewsiteinAspern,Vienna.‘’SeestadtAspern’’isoneofEurope’slargesturbandevelopmentprojects.Participantswerealsogivenatourinsidethedevelopment.InthosesitevisitsthepartnersfromEthiopiagotagripofthecurrenthousing

SESprojectmanagementdiscussionsDiscussionswereconductedontheSESprojectmanagementduringthelastthreedaysofthelaunchseminar.Thediscussionsfocusedoncasestudies,curriculaandThematicTraining.MITOpenCourseWareaccesswaspresentedbyTomasPfefferfromDepartmentofMigrationandGlobalization.MartinaFriedrich,theNationalErasmusContactpoint,briefedtheEthiopianpartnersonthefinancialmanagementofthegrant.Relevantsectionsofthepartnershipagreementwereexplained.Shealsorespondedtoallthequestions

raisedbytheorganizersandparticipantsoftheseminaronthefinancialmanagementofthegrant.Finally,theIndianparticipantsfromtheorganizationalandadministrationofBInUComprojectmanagemententertainedquestionsraisedbytheSESprojectpartners.Fromthisdiscussion,theSESpartnersgotagoodintroductionontheprojectscale,outputandtheextentoftheirengagementontheproject.Inaddition,preparationdiscussionswereconductedonthenationalconsultationmeetingsandlocaldisseminationworkshops.
