It’s remarkable to analyze why many of us believe that milk,which is designed to help calves develop, is also suitable forhuman beings. We are the only species on the planet thatconsumes the milk of another animal. Furthermore, we arethe only species on the planet who continues to drink milkafter weaning. Even for cows, this would be a no-no. Thereare multiple studies showing that drinking milk for a cowleads to an increased mortality rate and actually makesbones more prone to fracturing, not less. One examplewould be this giant study from researchers at UppsalaUniversity in Sweden.

But not only are westarting to becomeaware that our milk-drinking habit is one ofthe main sources ofmultiple health ailmentsand chronic disease; let’snot forget about the factthat 80 percent ofAmazon rainforestdestruction is the resultof grazing animals formeat and dairy. It’s one of the main sources ofenvironmental degradation and pollution.

And when we support the dairy industry we also supportanimal torture, suffering and heartache. Cows are forcefullyimpregnated so they can lactate, and when their babies areborn they are ripped from their mothers and head straightfor the slaughter house. Animal agriculture represents oneof the biggest genocides on the planet today, and it showshow much we’ve lost our connection to all that is.

Lactose Intolerance

But back to consumer health concerns. If we look at allother animals who don’t consume the milk of anotheranimal or after weaning, it is because they do not have theenzymes to break down the sugar found in milk. We are nodifferent, and this explains why in some ethnic populationsaround the world, lactose intolerance is present in 90percent of the population. A staggering 70 percent of theworld’s population has some degree of lactose intolerance.

That being said, some people might have evolved anddeveloped a cows milk just fine, which is why thisinformation may not apply to everybody but overall, itdefinitely appears we are doing something unnatural.

This is explainable by science. Humans actually never hadthis enzyme, and to digest the sugar in milk, a cow’s milk atthat, we had to develop the LTC gene, which was acquiredby mutation. This is the lactase gene, which allows us toprocess lactose as adults. Clearly, we are not doing what isnatural and in accordance with our bodies. Metabolic Acidosis

One of the most important points people are becomingaware of is the fact that animal protein may in fact beharmful for human consumption, and that plant protein is amuch better option. One thing animal protein does is trigger metabolic acidosis.This happens when the body produces too much acid andbecomes very acidic, which can be caused by multiplethings, including the absorption of casein found in animalprotein. Casein makes up almost 90 percent of the proteinin a cow’s milk. When the body experiences this type ofacidosis, it actually forces the body to compensate byleaching calcium from the bones to help neutralize theincreased acidity. Over time, all of this can have severe anddetrimental effects on bone health, and studies have shownthis.

We Have Been Misled

Science tells us that nations with high instances of hipfracture and osteoporosis also have a very high calciumintake. Given this correlation, and the fact that animalprotein causes metabolic acidosis, sucking the calcium outof the bones — in direct contrast to what the dairy industrywould have us believe — it’s easy to see that we have beenmisled.

Studies have also shown that animal protein can “turn oncancer.” This mainly comes from the work of Dr. ColinCampbell, an American biochemist who specializes in theeffect of nutrition on long term health. He is the JacobGould Schurman Professor Emeritus of NutritionalBiochemistry at Cornell University. Scholars like Campbellare vital to the world, because they are among the few whoactually examine and study nutrition and health, somethingthat our modern day medical industry completely ignores.How ironic is it that medical doctors don’t learn anythingabout nutrition? How does that make any sense? It’sbecause modern day medicine puts profits before health.

The China Study has become known as one of the mostcomprehensive studies of nutrition ever conducted. It hashuge implications for diet, weight loss and longer-termhealth. It implicates animal protein in various ways thatmost people aren’t ready to accept.

The Takeaway

The big takeaway here is to realize that we have beenmisled by the food industry in various realms. Productsthat have been pushed as healthy, like milk for example, areclearly not healthy and responsible for multiple diseases.Mass marketing and food propaganda, together with thepharmaceutical industry, completely control what webelieve to be real when it comes to our health. They evenfalsify science, to counter claims by actual impartial sciencewhich strongly opposes what is put out by these industries.It’s not easy to let go of what we’ve been programmed tobelieve for so long, but the bottom line is when it comes tofood and nutrition, critical thinking and independentresearch is far more valuable that relying on our medicalassociations and textbooks for information. Don’t be afraidto think for yourself, do your own research and listen to yourbody through experience.
