Sahuarita High School Families,
With four weeks of school under our belts, we are off to a great start to the 2019-2020 school year. Below is helpful information that all parents should know at the beginning of the year.
1) Many of our students have jobs, care for siblings, play sports, or participate in club activities after school, consequently we have dedicated tutoring time, Mustang Power Hour (MPH), during lunch on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Students can complete homework and tests or get tutoring during this time. Students with a grade less than 70% must attend until their grade is 70% or higher. The PowerSchool software program calls home every Friday beginning at 5:30pm to notify families if their student needs to attend MPH the following week. 2) If you have a question or concern about a class, please contact the teacher directly via email or phone. If you still have questions after communicating with the teacher, please feel free to contact me or my administra-tive team. 3) Please be sure to pick up and drop students off in the front parking lot (Desert Gem/Sahuarita Rd). The main gate is closed from 7:30-8:30am and again from 2:00-3:30pm. Please do not pick up or drop off students in the student parking lot. 4) Email our Attendance Clerk, Pat Torres, within 5 days of a student absence to excuse it. If you have any type of medical excuses, please provide documentation so the absence will be recorded correctly. Phone calls do not excuse an absence, but if you follow up the call with an email or note within 5 days of the absence the absence will be excused.
5) All teachers have websites where you can see the class syllabus and assignment calendar. Here is the link:
https://susd30.us/schools/sahuarita-high-school/student-life/course-websites/
Please let me know if you ever have questions or concerns.
Respectfully,John Kneup

These students as well as other members of the group will have the oppor-tunity to discover and explore with new items that have been ordered as a result of winning a Centurylink grant last spring! Some of the items in-clude: two laptops to be used for coding, programming and creating games, a DIY 3-D printer, a modular electronics kit and more! We are looking for-
ward to a great year and hope to expand our 3-D printing business!
The SHS Library, always a busy place, has been home to processing and bar coding our new Social Studies books and removing the previously used textbooks. Another recent activity has been Library Orientation. Upperclassmen, in their English classes, came to the library computer lab to review expec-tations with a Quizalize game. Freshman English classes played a Kahoot game to familiarize them-selves with procedures and explored the library in small groups then reported back to classmates with locations of helpful sections and items. Soon, student art projects will fill the library and help provide an even more awesome atmosphere!
