Collaboration is a process where two or more people or organizations work together to accomplish some common goals by sharing knowledge, experience and skills
Electronic collaboration is the purposeful use of networking and collaboration technologies to support groups in the creation of shared understanding toward joint effect
Benefits of Collaboration Technology
Letting people connect with the correct information at the right time
Helping connect people with the correct business processes
Letting people connect with the other people they need to connect to
Research questions
What are various collaboration technologies and tools and their associated benefits in driving workforce collaboration and productivity?
What are the Frameworks that organizations can use to evaluate disparate Collaboration technologies for application to their unique needs and cultures
What are the factors driving and hindering adoption of collaboration technologies in organizations? What are the approaches for successful roll-out of collaboration technology across organizations?
Hypothesis
In order to improve productivity and gain full benefit of collaboration technologies, an organization has to select right set of technologies that address various adoption factors that are unique to its organizational needs, situation and culture
An organization that carefully selects collaboration technologies suiting its unique characteristic and challenges, applies them systematically and follows through in their adoption can notice substantial benefits post implementation
