Construction - PosterWe used Photoshop CS6 to create our poster.
Step 1
Using the gradient tool we created a radial gradient as the background using grey and white colours.
Step 2
Using the rectangular marquee tool, we created a rectangle and then filled it in black, which we would later use to add text.
Step 3
Shown above is the original photo that we decided to use as the main image on our poster and digipak. On our poster we used the quick selection tool to crop out the
model from the background as effectively as possible.
Step 4
We loaded brushes onto Photoshop from the internet (brushking.eu), then using the eraser tool with the loaded brushes, we created the above paintbrush splashes on
the image of the model (shown above).
Step 5
We created gridlines (CTRL + R), to establish where we write the text “DEBUT ALBUM”, and later added new gridlines to ensure precise dimensions of the
underline and also to establish where the following text would go.
Step 6
As you can see from above, the new gridlines helped us to minimise confusion and guided us as to where we would place the reviews. Due to the fact that there is not a
star shape creating tool on Photoshop, we copied an image of a star from the internet to place on our poster for the reviews.
Step 7
Above, we still used the gridlines to center the logo and website as accurately as possible. The logo is from the original artist of the song, so is the link for the website, therefore we decided to incorporate this on poster to make it look more professional whilst spreading awareness of the artist. We centered the logo and maximized it to
establish a brand image for the artist.
Step 8
We created new gridlines to determine where would add the main title of our poster. We did this to minimise confusion and to be as precise and neat as possible.
