Staff, be mindful of the fact that
you are always at the forefront of
exposing our students to what it
means to be a professional in
appearance. Your consistent
professional appearance imprints
upon them the need to always
look appropriate. Thank you to all
who have set this high standard
for yourselves, your campus, but
most of all for your students.

“HERO” Mentor Program
Helping
Excel by
Reducing
Obstacles
“We had our first mentor rally this week and it was a great success! I enjoyed sitting
by listening to mentors motivate students to excel. We currently have 87 students
assigned to Cypress Springs staff mentors. In addition to many of these students
being in our 10th grade AYP group, they were identified as a result of not passing
both their 9th grade Algebra I and English I EOC exams. Remember, you are not
limited to meeting with your mentors only at the designated rallies, meet with them
often, encourage them often.” - Mary Becher, AAS
Future Mentor Rally Dates:
11/29, 12/14, 1/24, 2/14,3/28, 4/18, 5/23
Staff,
Remember that this week we
will witness another presidential
election. Don’t forget to do
your part by casting your vote
on election day. Remember that
we will not be running late
buses on Tuesday.
Nov 7, 2012
This Wednesday we will take advantage
of our first early release day. Students
will clear the building by 12:48. We will
start our staff development at 1:05 p.m.
in the auditorium. We plan to release
from staff development at 3:15 p.m.

Biology teacher Patricia
Matus keeps her
students actively engaged
in their classroom
instructional activities by
closely linking them to
biological concepts.
These hands on
models/activities help to
foster multiple modality
learning and thereby help
to increase student
understanding.

When is it appropriate to use the call
button?
Teachers, remember to push the call button in
your classroom when you have an emergency
situation. We are also asking that you push the
button when dealing with one of the following
issues:
Student refuses to give up a cell phone.
Student is disruptive and noncompliant to the
point of impeding your ability to deliver your
instruction.
Be prepared to explain fully to the
responding administrator the nature of
why you requested assistance. Also be
prepared to send a discipline referral as
soon as it is possible to the
administrative office.
Please send students who are out
of dress code and who are without
an ID Badge to the AP office.
We need 100% compliance
with the display of the parking
hanging tag on your vehicle.
Remember to come by the AP
office if you need assistance
with your parking tag. There is
no charge for the tag and you
will need to fill out a form in
the AP office to register your
vehicle.
The Butterfly Struggle
What do butterflies
have in common
with the human
spirit?
Before a butterfly can
emerge out of it’s chrysalis it has
to go through a lot of struggling.
Yes, struggling. Each time it lunges
out to escape, acids are being
removed from its wings. If
someone were to come along and
break the chrysalis open for it,
then the butterfly would die from
those acids. In essence, the
struggle is necessary for the
butterfly to survive. Then, when
the struggle is over, the butterfly
can come out and share its beauty
with the world.
“Embrace the
struggles!”
