First Holy Communion Celebrations — Today the final group, for this
year, will be celebrating their First Holy Communion in Newmarket
and Kirtling. They have been preparing for this special day since
January.
We welcome them and their families and friends to Mass today, and
we ask everyone to pray for them. We hope this special day may
remind them in the years to come of their promise to follow Jesus,
and of His constant love and care for them.
Throughout the three Sundays of First Holy Communion celebra-
tions in Newmarket we had our usual loyal photographer, Czech-
law, capturing many special stages of the celebration, especially
the receiving the Blessed Sacrament for the first time for our
young people.
A very special Thank You to Czeslaw for all this work and being
with us throughout the three Sundays. Parents will soon be able to
view, and buy, photographs of their children on their special day in
the Church. Please support Czeslaw, for all his effort and dedica-
tion to ensure there are many photographs of all the children, by
purchasing photographs of your child. There will be albums for
you to view in the office, where you can also place your order.
What is Lectio Divina?
Lectio Divina, literally divine reading,’ is an ancient Christian practice of praying the Scriptures. During Lectio Divina, a person listens to or reads the text of the Bible with the ‘ear of the heart,’ as if he or she is in conver-sation with God, and God is suggesting the topics for discussion. The meth-od of Lectio Divina includes moments of reading (lectio), reflecting on (meditatio), responding to (oratio) and resting in (contemplatio) the Word of God with the aim of nourishing and deepening one's relationship with the Divine.
Please come along on Thursday evenings from 19.30pm in the parish bar (after 7pm Mass) and experience this powerful prayer. All Welcome
