2017 Theme:
“In Christ” – Romans 8:1-5
To our Visitors: We welcome you here this morning and hope that you will make plans to come back at your earliest
convenience. Presently, our congregation has no minister, elders, or deacons. We are prayerfully working toward that goal. We do not go beyond the limitations and instructions set forth for the one
and true Church. If you have any questions as to our practice or beliefs, please do not hesitate to ask any of the men of
the congregation. We will be happy to answer any and all questions you may have. We hope that your time with us will be pleasant and uplifting.
A Four-Letter Word All Children Need to Learn – Part 2 There’s the four-letter word God wants every child to learn – “OBEY”! Especially your parents! Why? Because God said, “This is right.” It’s just the way it’s supposed to be. It’s not right and it’s not healthy and it’s not good for kids or parents or families or schools or societies when children are allowed to disregard authority. Children should obey their parents not only because it is right, but because that directive has been revealed by God – “Honor your father and mother” was the very centerpiece of what we know as the Ten Commandments (found in Exodus 20:12 and Deuteronomy 5:16). Do you not find it more than a little noteworthy that when Moses came down from Sinai with two tablets of stone holding ten fundamental commands, that smack dab in the middle of the list was the command to honor your father and mother?! That is a central part of God’s Old Testament revelation to mankind, reiterated repeatedly in the New Testament. You don’t really respect God if you don’t respect your parents. And then, obey your parents because there is a reward – “the first commandment with promise: ‘that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.’” This may not be literally true in every child’s life – obedient children sometimes suffer and even die. But what is always true is that God will honor and bless every child who learns and puts into practice this four-letter word: OBEY! The four-letter word God would have every child to learn. Are you teaching it to your child?

Ashville Food Pantry: Heritage is actively involved in our local food pantry. The items
most needed this month are spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, and fruit. Dog and cat food are
also needed. It helps dogs and cats stay in their homes and not be surrendered to
shelters for adoption. A box is available in the foyer for your donations. If anyone would
like to help carry bags to patrons, your help is needed at 10:00 a.m. on Monday,
November 20 or Monday, December 11 at the food pantry.
Thanksgiving and Christmas pantry distribution: Our church has committed to
collect 410 cans of fruit. Presently we need approximately 81 more for this ministry. We
would like to have all the canned fruit in by Wednesday, November 15.
Weekend packs Ministry: So far 156 packs have been delivered. We are now doing 30
packs per week. Thank you for donations of food and money toward this worthy cause!
Please remember this ministry in prayer and donate if you are able.
Please check the “Those dealing with cancer” and “Continued prayers” lists and let us
know updates. Thank you.
Please let Jason Wohnhas know if we are running short of cleaning supplies.
