FROM THE ALLISONSin 2006–2008 a tremendous civil unrest swept Mt. Elgon. Hundreds were killed and thousands were forced from their land. Many children lost their parents and today struggle to live. Many of them cannot afford the costs of going to high school and college. You can sponsor one of our High School students. Go online to www.christianrelieffund.org and click Sponsor A Child, click sponsor online then scroll down to categories and choose Mt. Elgon. You will see pictures of students who need extra help and read their profiles. You can sponsor a student for $35 a month. This will give them a great chance to get out of the poverty cycle they are in. Also, we started a scholarship program to help educate students who graduate from our Kapkirwok High School on Mt. Elgon and want to continue their education in teacher training college, a trade school or college. Janet and i interview the students who qualify each year and help them go on to college. We’ve had 7 travel all the way to Swaziland to study with us at African Christian College. it costs $500 for one student to ride a bus from Kenya to Swaziland. We welcome you to contribute to this fund. Give your check or cash to Dana and earmark it for the Elgon Scholarship.
