Term Definition
Activities The Activities object in Salesforce encompasses Tasks, Events and Calendars
Activity TimelineThe Activity Timeline is a lightning component that allows you to see a scrolling timeline of all tasks, events, logged calls, and sent emails for any given record
TaskAn assigned action that needs to be completed. Tasks can have specified due dates and statuses
EventCalendar event scheduled for a specific date and time. Events can be actual events or just a hold on the calendar for a specific action
Activities Considerations
● Create predefined Activity values for easy user selection
● Enable shared activities to relate multiple users to an event
● Salesforce automatically archives events and closed tasks that ended 365+ days ago
● Access to other users’ activities is managed by:
○ Role
○ Sharing Model
● Integrate with Gmail or Outlook to log email interactions

Activities: Events and Calendars
Events Considerations
● Attendees field has to be added to the Events page layout by an admin
● Data from any Salesforce object can be used as an ‘event’ (ex: track Opportunity closing dates by adding them to a calendar)
● Create an event series for recurring events
● Export events to add them to third-party calendars
Calendar
Calendar Considerations● Calendars don’t reflect the business hours selected in personal settings
● You can view up to 150 calendar items total in the day or week view
● You can share your My Events calendar with your manager or other colleagues, but not with personal and public groups
● When sharing your calendar you can specify the level of permissions
○ Hide Details: only availability is shown
○ Hide Details and Add Events: only availability is shown, but coworkers can add events to your calendar
○ Show Details: detailed information about your calendar can be seen
○ Show Details and Add Events: detailed information about your calendar can be seen and events can be added
