Fanfare on HYMN TO JOY arr. Richard Nichols
Call to Worship from Psalm 68
Sing to God, O kingdoms of the earth;
sing praises to the Lord. O rider in the heavens, the ancient heavens;
listen, he sends out his voice, his mighty voice. Ascribe power to God, whose majesty is over Israel;
and whose power is in the skies. Awesome is God in his sanctuary, the God of Israel;
he gives power and strength to his people. Blessed be God! Processional Hymn No. 304
Easter People, Raise Your Voices REGENT SQUARE
The Creed No. 885 A Modern Affirmation We believe in God the Father,
infinite in wisdom, power and love,
whose mercy is over all his works,
and whose will is ever directed to his children’s good.
We believe in Jesus Christ,
Son of God and Son of man,
the gift of the Father’s unfailing grace,
the ground of our hope,
and the promise of our deliverance from sin and death.
We believe in the Holy Spirit
as the divine presence in our lives,
whereby we are kept in perpetual remembrance
of the truth of Christ,
and find strength and help in time of need.
We believe that this faith should manifest itself
in the service of love
as set forth in the example of our blessed Lord,
to the end
that the kingdom of God may come upon the earth. Amen.
Gloria Patri No. 71 GREATOREX
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost;
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen. Amen.
Prayer of Confession
Merciful God,
Too often we stand looking toward the heavens for you.
Like the disciples, we are lost when we can’t feel your presence.
Teach us to look instead at our brothers and sisters in need.
Forgive us when we fail to be your light in the world.
Strengthen us to carry on your work in your holy name. Amen.
Words of Assurance
…In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven!
In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven!
Glory to God. Amen.
Anthem
Gentle Voice (8:30) Lee Dengler
Far above the noise of life, there’s a voice that is gently calling.
“Leave behind your cares and strife. Come to me. I will give you rest.
Bring your fear and bring your pain.
Bring your anger, and bring your worry.”
Do you hear the voice of Jesus, gently calling, “Come unto me”?
Gentle voice, so meek and mild; gentle words of understanding.
“You are my beloved child. Come to me. I will give you rest.
Bring your fear and bring your pain.
Bring your heartaches and bring your sorrow.”
Do you hear the voice of Jesus, gently calling, “Come unto me”?
Gentle voice, so full of love. Gentle words so rich in mercy.
“You are my beloved child. Come to Me. I will give you rest.” “Since By Man Come Death”
from Messiah (9:45, 11:00)
G. F. Handel
The Sacrament of Holy Baptism
Congregational Response Child of Blessing, Child of Promise STUTTGART
Child of blessing, child of promise,
baptized with the Spirit’s sign;
with this water God has sealed you
unto love and grace divine.
Child of God your loving parent,
learn to know whose child you are.
Grow to laugh and sing and worship,
trust and love God more than all.
WE HEAR AND RESPOND TO THE WORD

People: Hear our prayer.
The Lord’s Prayer
Offertory
When in Our Music God is Glorified (8:30) arr. Bruce Neswick
When in our music God is glorified,
and adoration leaves no room for pride,
it is as though the whole creation cried: Alleluia!
How often, making music, we have found
a new dimension in the world of sound,
as worship moved us to a more profound Alleluia!
So has the church, in liturgy and song,
in faith and love, through centuries of wrong,
borne witness to the truth in every tongue: Alleluia!
Let every instrument be tuned for praise!
Let all rejoice who have a voice to raise!
And may God give us faith to sing always: Alleluia! Amen!
One Faith, One Hope, One Lord (9:45) Craig Courtney
One faith, one hope, one Lord, one church for which He died,
one voice, one song, we lift in praise
to Him who was and is and shall be evermore.
There is one body, one spirit, as you were called to one hope.
One Lord, baptism and faith, one God and Father of all,
above all, and through all, who is in you all.
Though we be many people, diverse with various gifts,
we are given to each other for the unity of faith,
that we grow in the knowledge of the Son of God,
in the fullness of Christ.
Doxology LASST UNS ERFREUEN
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below; Alleluia! Alleluia!
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
