I’m going to show you 12 national
dishes, I want you to mark them out of ten for how
appealing they are- would you
eat them?

It consists of the traditional Australian meat pie covered with
tomato sauce sitting, usually inverted, in a plate of thick green pea soup.

Goulash is a (sometimes) spicy dish,
originally from Hungary, usually made of beef,
red onions, red peppers,
vegetables, and paprika powder.

Hákarl (Icelandic for "fermented
shark") is a food from Iceland. It is a Greenland or basking shark which has been cured with a particular fermentation
process and hung to dry for 4-5
months. Hákarl has a very particular ammonia-rich smell and taste, similar to very strong
cheese.

Buuz are a type of Mongolian
steamed dumpling filled with
minced mutton, or yak meat. The
meat is flavoured with onion or garlic and salted.
Occasionally, they are
flavoured with malted fennel
seeds and other seasonal herbs.

Potato pancakes, also
known as latkes in
Belarus are shallow-fried pancakes of
grated potato and egg, often flavored with grated onion.

Amok trei is a traditional
Cambodian. It is fish coated in a thick coconut
milk with kroeung, either steamed or baked in a cup made from banana leaves.

Feijoada is a Brazilian thick stew of black beans with beef and pork.

Kushari, is a popular traditional Egyptian national dish. It consists of a base of rice,
brown lentils, chickpeas,
macaroni, and a topping of Egyptian garlic and vinegar and spicy tomato sauce (salsa).
Caramelized onions are commonly added
as a garnish.

Mansaf is a national dish of Jordan, made of lamb cooked in a yoghurt sauce and
served with rice. The lamb is cooked in a broth made with a
fermented then dried yogurt-like product called jameed, and served on a large
platter with a layer of flatbread topped with rice and then
meat, garnished with almonds and pine
nuts.

Ugali is a national dish in
Kenya. It is generally made
from maize flour and water, and
varies in consistency from porridge to a dough-like substance.

Dal Bhat is a traditional
Nepalese staple dish which is
essentially rice (bhat) and lentil soup (dal). Dal
generally contains lentils tomatoes, onion, chilli and ginger along with herbs and spices
such as coriander, garam-masala and
turmeric.

In Venezuelan cuisine, an
hallaca typically involves a
mixture of beef, pork, chicken,
capers, raisins, and olives
wrapped in maize (cornmeal dough), bound with string within plantain
leaves, and boiled or steamed
afterwards.

On your world map you will locate, shade and label each
of the countries.
Labels must be in block
capitals and written on a
straight line.

For each country you are then going to graph your response to how appealing their national
dish is.
Using the graph paper, use one 0.5 cm box to equal one mark out of ten.
Produce a shaded column (1cm in width) to represent each of your
scores.

Stick your column to your map and draw an arrow to
the country.
